  1. Look mr pessimist teams lose players every year either to injury or free agency. Kurt Warner never threw a NFL pass was a third stringer and won the superbow his first year, same with Brady. It is not impossible to make a superbowl run. We already have a superbowl caliber defense and it would do more harm than good to get rid of clements this year when a mediocre qb at best last season fell one game shy of making the playoffs off the coattails of the defense. Also Jennings sucked, thats is why TD didnt offer the tag he was afraid to over pay for him like the 49ers a completley desperate team did. SO i completely disagree with you you will see the tag on clements if a deal is not in place.
  2. Here I thought we were an intelligent bunch of fans. Why in the world would we trade Clements this year? Arent we trying to make a Superbowl run. If we are so concern about him walking next year theres a thing called the "Franchise Tag" then TD could do a sign and trade to the Redkins like he did for Price and the Falcons, since its apparent Clements has hinted going to Gregg Williams system. Then we would have 2 first round picks next year, much negoitating power for TD.
  3. It appears as though your not getting TD. TD will not pay over 4 mil a year for a QB hence all the trade rumrs surrounding clement this year not that it really matters because everyone is forgetting that TD has no problem using a franchise tag on a player he knows he can do a Trade and sign for valuable draft picks. However Surtain is looking to make over 6 mil a year so i dont see it happening, However, i do like your plan and has been one of my own dreams of obtaing but we have to wake up from thisone cuz it aint happening.
  4. Sorry i wasnt finished. Maybe he wants to get congresses attention to show that steroid use is out of control in the NFL and the need to revoke the Anti-trust Laws so he can start up his own team.
  5. Just going to be silly for a moment as I am BORED. I believe that all of Jim Hassletts comments in regards to his and other steroid use was to show that the MLB is not the only sport that congress should look at for Steroids. He's probably hoping the attention gets him media press and a call to congress so he can work out a new coaching deal since the Bills left him high and dry for Mularkey thus he retaliates with steroids.
  6. I think that the all defensive penalities over the first down marker should be a first down at the line of scrimmage for example: 3-4 on the 31 yrd line illegal contact infraction incurs instead of marching off 10 yards have it 1-10 on the 31 yd line. THus the defense still gets to hold and the offensive still has to prove they can go down the field. I think it should be this way on all defensive calls. My reasing is as follows: 1. you dont truly know if the guy would have caught the ball why give him the yardage of an imaginary catch. Let the offense prove they can march down the field but give them the 4 downs because even if he would have caught the ball it would have incurred a first down. Secondly anything behind the markers should be a repeat of down this way the offense could still maintain its groove and the defense isnt deflated completly. Just something id like to see.
  7. Ok, I will be the first to say it was because the QB sucked. THe guys that hold the ball way too long make the line look extremely bad I.E. Rob Johnson and Drew Bledsoe. We have seen evidence of Flutie coming in an making oour line that looked horendous look pretty good after RJ. However, We dont know how bad or good the line really is until Losman gets into some games. MOreover, Bledsoe's immobility and replacement of Brady in NE turned their OL from worse in the leaugue to 3 time world champions. THe same line with only rookie replacements over the years. Thus, IMHO I feel the only part of this line that needs upgrading is the center. I have stated this since day one and had felt this way for 2 years. The center is the core of the line, first and foremost. The only other 2 areas id like to see adressed is the 3rd/poession/slot reciver position and TE. THen i believe we have the tools too make the legiitamate shot at the title this season. Finally, depth, depth, depth. If there is any apge I want to take from the Pats its DEPTH adequate depth keeps you in the hunt when the stars go down.
  8. Well i would have hoped to see some of the boards brilliant minds at work with the great question of the 4-3 3-4 defense. Heres the think with a 4-3 defense we are currently running we are not getting any true pressure on the qb most of the time the pressur is coming from th lbs/cbs or safety blitzes. Personally I think we are better suited for the 3-4 we have outstanding lbs ( plus id like to see more of crowell) and could use them more in blitz packages and it would be better for our defense against the run. The 3-4 also takes away the huge gains on screen passes.
  9. I agree with previous post about a training camp trade. If the Bills cannot execute a trade before the draft, they will let him play a majority of time during preseason games, and its in Travis best interest to do this since he is seeking a long term deal. We would then be able to trade him for a conditional 2006 draft pick like we did with Mike anderson. With Travis's ability we should be able to get a number 1 in next years draft easily but I would be content with a number 2.
  10. Jus t needed to refut rumors of previous postings that Law was close to a deal with Buffalo. FALSE The truth is is no one is really talking to Law until after he heals from his injury. They said noone wants to put that kind of money into a player until he can show hes healed. also that he is still a great player and once he heals there are several options for him.
  11. Well your idea about mould is almost correct. The fact was that Kelly and Moulds had zero chemistry and moulds was 3 or 4th on the depth chart for his first 2 seasons. Then Bam Kelly retires and FLutie turns him into a probowl Recevier in 1998. Maybe Losman can do that for Reed?
  12. AH take oout your microscope, No TY LAW in the superbowl and the secondary was scorched for 355 yds by donavan mcnabb and a broken TO, Patriots are going to have some serious secondary issues this season. The only thing that makes their secondary something is their safety. But they were payin LAW 10 mil a year for the last 3 years. But 3-6 mill for the position is not such a bad thing.
  13. Why would make you think Henry is worth a Player and a 1st round pick. He did nothing last year, he killed his trade value hes worth a one on one for Shelton only no pick other than that hes worth where we picked him #2 rd then you could trade the 2 2nd rds for a 1st round then trade down the first roud and get a 1 and a 3rd round.
  14. Im sorry but I had to post this, I feel saddened at all the post I read that say Clement will be traded this season if we got Ty Law. Obvisously the arm chair GMS have gottena little to lazy in their Lazy chair, or mixed too much Kool-aid. First off Clements is in his last year of the contract, if we cant sign him to an extension or resign him next season he can be Franchised and we could get a min first round pick for him but the tag calls for 2 first round picks. Clements is defenately a top 10 CB in the leaugue and I seriously doubt we would let him go for nothing. Secondly, Ty Law's signing would be complimentary to Clements and another sigining to make our defense even better. Not an indicator that we would trade Clements. Think of Ty law tutoring Clements how much better he could possibly get. Finally, why must almost everyone have someone out the door on the heels of some prospect. We have a championship caliber team. Cutting Clements only weakens our secondary and special teams, personnally I wouldnt do it and i dont see it happening.
  15. Just because a player fills in for an injured player doesnt make him a ft CB. He got burned alot, im not saying he wont be a FT CB just not this upcoming year hes still not ready.
  16. Im glad you could live with this, I could not. First off mcgee is nowhere near being a FT starter yet, and second off how do we know if the player we bring in is going to be an improvement over clements a proven starter. As far as thw winfield comparison he wasnt that good in the first place all he could do was tackle that was it and he wasnt worht the money he wanted. On the other hand Clements is worth a good contract for the next 5-6 years.
  17. Let me get this straight you want us to sign a 30 year old and CB trade our proven 25 year old back for an unproven first round pick????????? I think that is completely unwise. Ty law would be a great compliment to Clements but not his replacement.
  18. I agree with you the agents control their overinflated dollar value because how else would the agent live. I just feel based on worth its not fair to a Veteran good/great player to have to be released take less money else where because the teams first round picks a bust and its eating up the salary cap. However, i did say that their would be incentives included in the 1 year deal maybe even pyramiding down the round 1 minimum so it still appears the higher drafted players are getting paid more that year, but their true deal is in the 2nd year thats when they would sign a blockbuster deal so they woould still get paid but after a years tryoout per say. OTher rookies might like this becuase if these first rounders turn to bust it opens a roster spot tryout.
  19. Heres another link confirming TY LAW is only intrerested in 2 teams the colts and the JETS http://www.bergen.com/page.php?qstr=eXJpcn...2Y3dnFlZUVFeXk2
  20. Essentially I dont think their giving up money they are guaranteed 1 mil plus incentives the first year if they pan out they get their blockbuster deal if they dont well maybe they need a new career.
  21. I think the NFLPA should have a vested interest in this. These first round bust picks are bring down the veterans salaries. If teams arent wasting valuable cap space on wasted busts than they would be capable of paying the veteran player the money they are rightfully due.
  22. Apparently law is talking to a team in NY... the New York JETS http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/jet...l=ny-jets-print
  23. I have been thinking about this for two years and more so since Flowers was a bust, Leaf was a bust and many other first round busts. Proposed idea is as follows: Any college player drafted in the first round will receive a minim 1 year 1 mil mininum salary with incetives. Then at the beginning of the 2nd year their exclusive rights belong to the team who drafted them if the team feels they are worth a long term deal based on their actual experience with the player instead of the players projected potential based on college performance then can sign them to a lucrative deal, if the team does not feel they are worth the money the player becomes an UFA allowing any team in the league to sign the player to an offer that bith the player and them agree on. What this accomplishes is not over paying for busts and having to release our quality veterans just to afford these busts. Let me know what you think im all ears or should i say eyes.
  24. I want to start off I agree with Points 1,2,3,4 & 5 and now for my Disagreements: Let me ask you how is 2.5 mil a year too much to pay for any STARTING OL, Are you paying attention to any of these players salaries you have listed in Point 6 as well as the comparison of salaries in the leaugue. Coy is only makin 1.5 mil over 4 years rember all deals are back loaded, for the peole who dont have a clue of what that means is when we sign a player the first and second year salaries are extremely low to hel in thos years and then acclerate into larger salaries as they go into the final 2-3 years of their contract. Also, we all thought Prioleu was great at his posititon and TD did to and decided to lock him up that year instead of watching his value increase. Im actually still quite loss on how he lost his starting job and I think hes still a qaulity back. As far as Wire maybe they need to put him back to his natural position of LB. However, I strongly agree with you and everyoneelse when it come to the sick salary we are paying Williams. On point 7 i dont see where your going with this I am a believer of the 3-4 which has all the focus on LB they are the playmaker and the tacklers I would rather have my money there then on the DL. Especially since LB can bring the BLitz and pick off the passes. And the offensive line who says we need STARS what were they before they were stars just offensive lineman trying to get good at their Job. Stars cost mega money especially on the lines so if you want all our money to be tied up in 9 positions of 22 starters we would be consitient losers year in and year out. On point 8/ I dont see your meaning here either. We are out of salary cap Jail, We are not at the cap we are about 5 mil under it and we only lost 2 key- 3 players from a team that is picked in the top 5 of teams that could be the next Superbowl Champions. We dont need any big time players with a big time salary we need good players for depth at a reasonable salary. He has done a great job with the cap but as much as I want to Scorch TD for some of his moves the only one I could really love to nail him for is the 9 mil to Mike Williams. His signing of Holcomb at 1.4 mil a year for a back up is sooooo much cheaper then Losman at abck-up or Bledsoes 4 mil at back up. The answer to the play off question is quite simple if you watched any games last season DREW, DREW, DREW rember especiallt the last game against Pitt we win JETS are out and we are IN, ALso if he could have played better against ne twice, oh and dont get me satarted on his lost of mental capacity against the Ravens. If i have a good assement of JP as I think I do, You are going to see games soo much more competetitive with fewer 3 and outs. If he can carry 20% more of the drives that Drew was great for 3 and out it also improves our defense when there rested their unstopable and thats when the meaning of a good offens= a great defense. Sometimes we think man we didnt make the playoffs we have to make some huge siginings. FIrst huge signing takes huge money we dont have enough to go around. Second why dont you really look at our roster, look at the players at certain positions and then think what was our problem last year. First problem was the immobility and lack of escability and the inability for the screen passes by DREW. Drew makes a line look worse than what it is and also makes us soo damn predictable. Why did mcgahee and travis get soo many negative yards because the defense knew we were running the ball because we lost our trust in Bledsoe last season. By annointing Losman the starter our offensive line immeadately improved. It also put us back to a youthful movement losman, evans, mcgahee so it improves us now and well into the future. So tell me where is TD going wrong HOnestly, not for our dislike for his moves.
