Center C. Spencer visits Cincy

I'm surprised the NFLPA would allow this. Somebody better tell Troy Vincent! http://www.nflpa.org/Media/includeu%5Caudi...un04Audible.pdf (Check out page 2) -

http://www.pga.com/news/tours/pga-tour/bayhill032005.cfm "I was trying to win the golf tournament,'' Singh said. "If I had to do it again, I probably would have hit a different club, played safer a little bit and hopefully see if Kenny made a mistake. But that's not the way I play. I play aggressive and I went for the flag. It just came up a little short.'' "It looked like it was going to fly right next to the hole,'' Perry said. "From my angle you're thinking, 'Man, that looks perfect.' And then to see it ... I was stunned.'' No longer needing to match Singh's aggressive play, Perry hit safely to the middle of the green some 70 feet away, lagged to 2 feet and closed with a 2-under 70 for a two-shot victory over Singh (69) and Graeme McDowell (66).

Scouts Inc. Todd McShay says Henry for Shelton
Sound_n_Fury replied to brihs2005's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It just sounds to me like McShay's been reading old news items and hadn't seen Denny Green's recent statement that he's "not messing around with draft choices." A lot of these so-called experts don't have the pipeline they portray to the public...they just surf the net, gathering news items and rumors like we do. -
I was about 20 yards away when Vijay took the shot and it sounded like he hit it fat. He had Perry on the ropes, but his shot selection was just way too aggressive... there's no way he would have lost had he hit it to the middle of the green (Perry was cooked after missing his par on 17). I saw an interview with Vijay afterward and he said he aimed at the flag because "that's what Arnie would have done," and he really wanted to win Bay Hill badly after finishing second twice. The guy who was really pulling trick shots out of his a$$ was Sergio Garcia. After he hit his drive on par 5 16th into the 18th hole tee area (I have no idea how he did that...it's about 75 yards from the 16th fairway!), he hit a blind second shot OVER the 17th hole grandstand and landed it in a spot about 10 feet in front of the lake guarding 17. He hit back across to 16 on his third stroke and ended up parring the hole. I've never seen anything like it.

Asked and answered. I'll never understand the "Look at Me!" mentality in any group setting, be it a sporting event, concert, etc. Sadly, the trend toward "reality TV," where everyone can be a star, seems to be feeding on this same trait. As an aside, I went to my first PGA tournament a few weeks ago (Bay Hill in Orlando). The gallery was very knowledgeable and respectful of the players. The only fan I saw talking too loudly while the players were on the greens tuned out to be a guy from Buffalo (go figure...he was complaining about the hockey lockout to a guy from Canada). It was cool to be a couple yards away from guys like Tiger and John Daly (he took an 11 on the 18th hole on Sunday and finished with an 80--dead last in the field ) when they were in the tee box or on the green. When Vijay Singh knocked his second shot on 18 into the lake, you could have heard the fans' gasp a mile away. Neat experience...

http://www.newsoftheweird.com/archive/nw050327.html In February, Amanda Monti, 24, of Birkenhead, England, was sentenced to 30 months in jail for ripping off one of her ex-boyfriend's testicles with her bare hands in a rage over his refusal to have sex. (According to witnesses, Monti briefly hid the testicle in her mouth, but a friend retrieved it and handed it back to the man, saying, "That's yours.") [Reuters, 2-10-05]

Yesterday sucked. We had 18" of snow in Eden, south of the city. None of the roads were plowed well (State, county, local) and it was a general mess everywhere. The parking ramp next to HSBC Arena was the best option and most fans were using it.

I was there (seasons tickets at the 45 yard line in the upper deck behind the Bills bench--boy, those were great seats!), but almost left after Houston scored right after halftime. Once the comeback started to gain momentum, everything sort of became a blur. Some of my lasting memories include: ...watching fans who'd left trying to rush back into the stadium after they got outside and heard the roars after each Bills TD. ...Warren Moon, who'd been on fire for the first 35 minutes seemed to finally realize it was January in Buffalo and it was really cold! He just siezed up, like all his adrenilin was gone and he was just plain freezing his ass off. ...Don Beebe clearly stepped on the sideline on his TD and everyone in our section was laughing at how fate was with the Bills. ...After Christie kicked the game winner, we were jumping up and down, up and down, up and down, and the moment seemed frozen in time.

Dumb As Dirt - Too stupid to be drafted
Sound_n_Fury replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Frankly, I'd love to see the Wonderlic made a requirement for TSW regisration. How about this topic thread: "Dumb As Dirt - Too stupid to post, Wonderlic scores" -
Agreed. Under Gilbride's offense in 2002-03, there were very few hot receiver options and DB looked the worse for it. Last year, there were indeed "hot" options, but it took Evans a while to get the hang of reading the D and getting on the same page with Drew. Still, it was infuriating to see Bledsoe continue to hold the ball when he did have dump off options. His lack of pocket presence (slow decision making) is really astounding for a 12-year vet.
-
Holly Cow! Hasn't there been enough TSW discussion of Shelton over the past two months? Here's his profile from Scouts, Inc. Comment: Shelton is a good athlete for his size, he has tremendous upper body strength, he shows a good initial punch, he extends his arms, and when he is locked onto a defender, he can be very effective. At left tackle, he does not have what you are looking for athletically but he can be effective if he can get his hands on the defender, lock on with his long arms, and simply ride the speed rusher past the pocket. However, if you put him on an island and ask him to be an athlete and to handle double moves or great first-step quickness, he is going to be in big trouble as he is simply not very good in space. Because of his size, Shelton can dominate at the point of attack. Will push the pile in the running game, comes off the ball hard and can simply overpower DL to get the job done. He needs to continue to improve his footwork, but he has a good work ethic and will certainly give you good effort. Shelton has been somewhat of a disappointment thus far but he is still young enough to salvage a nice career if he's eventually moved inside to guard.

The 34 defense is designed to confuse the QB about where the rush is coming from...and blitz recognition/pocket presence is DB's weakest attribute, so this is not surprising. As the Anti-Drew, I'm really excited to see what JP brings to the party this fall. He played behind a weak line at Tulane and had to constantly make quick reads and pull plays out of thin air as the pocket broke down. If he can bring this quality to the Bills, it'll take a lot of stress of the OL and keep defenses honest (eg, not sending 5+ guys after the QB as most of the good teams were doing to DB).

Sell outs for the Amerks
Sound_n_Fury replied to Bills/Sabresfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm taking my kids to see the Amerks Sunday. It'll be their first professional hockey game and we're all looking forward to it. The place should be packed... -
This might make scoring go up, but it won't fix the ultimate problem: lack of skating room. I don't care if two extra goals a game go bouncing in off some defenseman's ass or from a scrum in front of the net...I want to see some 2-on-1's and breakaways, just like in the 1970s before the Broadstreet Bullies ruined the game forever.

Hey, this year's pagent is in Albany. Can anyone say, "Road Trip!" -
I particularly like this item, as well APRIL 1 ONE-LINERS The Bills have hired O.J. Simpson as a part-time regional scout (and part-time knife sharpener).

Different era, different stats (just run the damn ball, OJ!). I think if he were playing today, he'd at the very least be on par (status-wise) with a guy like Wayne Chrebet.
