  1. Kelsay is also going to have to be locked up long term. I could see him commanding more than Schobel. Unfortunately, the Bills won't be able to pay all these guys what they are worth and will lose some good players. McGahee, Clements, Kelsay, McGee, and possibly Edwards will command large contracts over the next year or so. Guys like Bannan and Denney are no brainers to extend because they are valuable backups and will probably come cheap. Tough decisions will also need to be made on veterans like Moulds, Fletcher, Milloy, Vincent, Adams, and Teague. The Bills could go in almost any direction when it comes to the 2006 draft.

  2. Orton was 0-2 with a 3 and out against the Bills 1st team defense. He tore up the Bills 2nd team defense with the Bears 1st team offense. Hard to judge from that. Hutchinson is bad, but it is almost as if the Bears' coaches are looking for a reason to elevate Orton as an excuse for not getting some of the veterans that were on the market last March.

  3. I know that nothing good can come from sloppiness and failure. When 2nd stringers are in, it is hard to be as critical because it is a bunch of guys trying to earn a roster spot. But there is no excuse for the 1st stringers. This is supposed to be a power running offense, and the 1st team probably had as many no gain runs as positive yardage runs. Penalties, fumbles, jail-breaks... I don't understand how that is part of any pre-season strategy. It is only pre-season but there is plenty of reason for concern.

  4. Looks like Mularkey agrees with me. Are the Bills going to run a trick play every 3rd down? If you can't lineup and knock guys off the line to convert 3rd and 1's and 2's now, it's not going to change in the regular season. I guess some of you pollyanna's think otherwise. It is frustrating that at this point in the pre-season, the offense looks like it is the first day they've ever played together.

  5. Pathetic. Parrish and Everett are sorely needed. I also don't buy the argument that Mularkey and the play-callers are sand-bagging for the pre-season. What good does the current slop on offense do for anybody? You can't just all of a sudden turn on a switch come Sept. 11 and have an efficient offense. I will be pissed if Mularkey does not rip apart the ineptness of this offense publicly. They better start showing some concern. This offense isn't getting any better.

  6. Anybody know that stats so far this pre-season for the offense converting 3rd downs? It's gotta be pathetic. I know it's just pre-season, but somebody's got start asking Mularkey some questions. This was the problem last year with Bledsoe and it seems like nothing has changed.

  7. The way Jerry Gray has been raving about the young cornerbacks, I think Kevin Thomas is in trouble. A lot of guys that we have pegged for the practice squad will probably get picked up by other teams. Especially a team like the Packers who have seen these guys play a few times and who have no depth.

  8. Where does he say he has to be the highest paid CB? There's a difference between thinking you're the best and expecting Champ Bailey money. I still think top 5 money gets him. Garbage journalism looking for a juicy story. He wanted Clements to say that he wanted more than Champ Bailey but he wouldn't do it.

  9. In terms of cash outlay not salary cap accounting numbers, Ralph has not really had to pay anyone so far this season outside of regular salaries and 'other bonuses' which if Culmping Platelets info is right amounts to about $60m this year. With no 1st rounder this year and the last guy to get big money being Spikes more than 2 years ago, it would appear the Bills have plenty of money to give Clements. The only other guy you have to worry about in the next 2 years is Mcgahee and maybe Kelsay and McGee but they won't be double digit bonus guys. Losman, Evans, Mike Williams, Spikes, and Schobel are locked up long term. Add McGahee, Clements, Kelsay and McGee and that's a nice nucleus to build off of.

  10. That's exactly the point. Did the Eagles really expect TO to play for $3m this year when they signed him last year? He was always an idiot. Everyone is giving The Eagles credit for sticking to their guns, but what good is it going to get them? TO is a 1st class moron and will continue what he is doing throughout the season until he gets more money. Their starting wideouts will be Greg Lewis and the 2nd round rookie and they will be paying Owens $3m to stay away from the locker room and field. The Eagles only play is to shut up and put up with his antics and maybe he'll come to play on Sundays. But for Reid to send him home for not talking to the other players is giving TO exactly what he wants if he doesn't get more money. More attention.

  11. TO is a moron but the Eagles need to take some of the blame here. They should have never let Owens sign that contract last year. You could see this coming a mile away. They got him on the cheap because he desperately wanted out of SF and didn't want to be traded to Baltimore and get his head knocked off chasing Boller's passes. Remember, the only reason he wasn't a Free Agent last year is because his agent forgot to file his FA papers in time. For all those who say he shouldn't cry about 7 years $49m, his guaranteed money was nowhere near what he should have gotten. Yes, TO is an idiot but the Eagles are equally to blame in my opinion.

  12. Even though TO did sign the contract, the Eagles had to see this coming. Despite the fact that it is a negotiation, you can't let a guy sign a contract that you know isn't fair market value. It's like playing chess against a moron and you have to tell him what move to make next because you don't want to beat him that easy. The 7 years $49m number is worthless. The only thing that matters in football contracts is guaranteed money because any game could be their last. As far as Willis goes, if he has an All Pro season, Donahoe will give him what he deserves. He is not a cheap bastard like the Eagles front office.

  13. This smells like Simon and his agent are communicating through the Trenton Times to get something going. They are the only ones who have been quoted in the 2 stories. Could also be the Eagles trying to spur a market for Simon. In any event, it looks like the Eagles have moved on and will be happy to get rid of him.
