  1. I couldn't agree more about needing a stud pass-rusher. Schobel is a good player but not a game changer. Plus, Williams from NC State is a big dude. That guy from BC seems too light for what this team needs right now. Use one of the early 3rd round picks to trade back up into the 1st round and Wright or Ngata will probably still be around by the late teens/early twenties. Use the other 3rd on a TE. And Ralph needs to open his wallet for Bentley (he will have to over-pay, but that is the stage the franchise is at).

  2. If he is still there at #3, the Bills would have to consider taking him. He has enough arm and enough mobility to succeed in the NFL. His intangibles and leadership are off the charts. The Bills would be in a good position because no one would deal with the 49ers at 2 because they can't take a QB and teams would know a deal could be had with the Bills at 3. It would be a nice position to be in. But somehow the Bills will manage to screw it up and win a game.

  3. In the Information over-load age that we live in, it is hilarious and disturbing at the same time how one outlet (Florio no less) writes something that is probably out of thin air and other outlets immediately run with it and start reporting it as well. It is getting to the point where despite their 'freedom of the press' cries, the media needs a regulatory watchdog. The current state of affairs mass produces stupidity in the population.

  4. In regards to Kiwanuka of BC and Williams of NCST, Williams has 25 pounds on him, and Schobel has showed to be a productive player at LDE. Schobel and Williams on the 2 ends would be nice. Then I'd like to see the Bills trade back into the middle of the 1st round and get a stud DT. On a side note, I think Donahoe's biggest problem as a GM is he acts like he is a portfolio manager at a mutual fund. He only looks for value. That works in the stock market but not in building a football team when you have needs that must be addressed and team chemistry to consider.

  5. they will probably have the #3 overall pick. The only teams I don't see the Bills passing are Houston and San Fran. That last game against the Jets will probably be worth a 5 position swing for each team. The ideal scenario would see the young players getting time and playing well, but still losing. Who do you go with - OT Ferguson or DE Williams?

  6. It seems kind of strange for a guy in the League 8 years, but his arm strength and athleticism seem greatly improved this year. He was always a great QB, but I never remember him having the zip on the ball that he has this year or being able to scramble for 1st downs.

  7. I don't think he is projected to be a 1st rounder, but I really like this Oshinowo kid, the DT from Stanford. He is playing well against ND. Reminds me of a young Pat Williams. He eats up at least 2 blockers every play and gets an excellent jump on the snap. I'd rather see 2 DL and a LB with the top 3 picks. I think OL are extremely risky picks in the 1st couple rounds. I'd rather see OL addressed in Free Agency.

  8. Look at the Eagles with McNabb injured and now out. Take Brady off of New England and they are worse than us. Look at the demise of Tennessee and see how it correlates to the deterioration of McNair's skills. The lone exception is perhaps Pittsburgh as they seem to keep winning without any stars. Stud players make plays and allow average players to be good role players because not as much is asked of them. These teams don't fall apart after giving up 1 or 2 touchdowns because they know they are never out of the game. I really believe the talent is basically equal among teams throughout the NFL. The difference is those stars that change the entire persona of their teams. The one player we do have like that has been out since week 2.

  9. This is a pretty good thread. Count me in the camp that in today's NFL, you need to be lucky when it comes to turning it around. The margin between winning and losing gets smaller every year. How can a team hold KC to 3 points one week then the following week give up 48 to San Diego? Put Carson Palmer or Peyton Manning on this team and everything changes, even the defense. Also, this team is playing without its All-Everything LB and its 2 starting DT's. Add in QB struggles and being without your 2nd and 3rd round picks for much of the season, and it's a wonder this team has won 4 games. I don't have a problem with Donahoe's leadership. I just think that you only get so long to turn it around and time and patience are running thin.

  10. I am all for sending guys like Sam Adams packing. When you are winning, you can put up with players who don't play hard all the time. When you aren't, stuff like that ruins team chemistry. Moulds does complain a lot, but he plays hard all the time so I can live with that. But Adams drives me crazy. Not only does he not play hard all the time, but he is good for at least one offsides penalty a game that extends a drive and leads to points.

  11. The only guys with large contracts on this team are Moulds, Williams, and Spikes. Spikes isn't going anywhere. Moulds proved last week he's still an excellent receiver if you can get him the ball. And you probably have to still stick with Mike Williams. Fletcher, Adams, Milloy and Vincent don't make huge money and don't have more than 2 years left on their contracts. You might as well draft their replacements this year, bring them back and cut them only if their replacements are ready. Posey doesn't make big money either. I'd like to see a DT and LB drafted in rounds 1 and 2 this year.

  12. Mularkey made the right call with Losman. He was getting worse. Every situation is not similar. For every Eli Manning, there's a David Carr or Tim Couch who probably could have benefitted from getting benched. That said, I think it may be time to put Losman back in there. Holcomb made some rookie mistakes down the stretch against NE. Short of Holcomb developing into a first rate Qb or realistic playoff chances, it's time for Losman. I also don't think this team is old at all. The offense is extremely young. On defense, the only old position is safety. Spikes will play for a long time, Crowell will replace Fletcher or Posey, and Adams is gone. The corners, ends, and depth positions are all young. The Bills will most likely have 5 Day 1 draft picks and at least 4 should be spent on a DT, LB, and safety.

  13. 3 moves have changed the SD franchise around and you could reasonably argue luck had more to do with them than anything else. SD passed up on Vick and Tomlinson dropped into their hands because they were fresh off the Ryan Leaf debacle (some luck, some good decision-making). Brees ends up the starter last year because Rivers drags his feet on negotiations (Entirely luck). SD signs a former mid-major college basketball player as training camp fodder and he becomes an All-Pro tight end. (mostly luck, but have to give the organization some credit). You could do a similar exercise with Bellichick, New England, Mo Lewis/Drew Bledsoe, and Tom Brady. Buffalo is still waiting for its lucky breaks.

  14. I am becoming more and more convinced that the over-riding common theme among successful franchises in NFL recently is luck. Most NFL organizations, the Bills included, are run well. The difference between consistently winning and losing in the NFL is a Tom Brady, Donavan McNabb, or Peyton Manning. Getting those guys on your team requires luck.
