  1. Was there a time during the prior administration when you expressed a similar sentiment? That’s the real question IMO. For me, I think it’s less about Americans suffering so the Dems look bad, more a belief that Americans are hurting because the Dems are in charge. In that regard, it’s not party over country, it’s about which party gives the country the best choice for success. As for Trump and impeachment, your perspective is interesting. It seems clear to me that the marketing plan of the dem party during the Trump admin was to scuttle his entire presidency with a scorched earth policy with accusations on treason, corruption, racism, sexism, and anything in between. It worked. As a result, we should expect more of the same.
  2. That’s partially accurate, but assuming a source is pure of heart, completely honest with no motive beyond transparency is sort of naive. Additionally, some folks like to pretend they are more dialed in than they actually are. I’d think it would be highly improbable that a coaching staff operating at the highest level of professional sports wouldn’t have disagreements.
  3. I ran projections through a Financial Planning software program I have. Using the traditional 4% withdrawal rate…carry the 1…8% average return…diversified portfolio…dividend performance…5% in crypto (duh)….you have to plug in inflation figures…bah bah bah…he’s 28…life expectancy, let’s put in 60 years….ipso facto… I like what I’m seeing, but would definitely recommend he make no deposits in risky ventures like Russian Banks or any of the Kardashian sisters.
  4. I don’t know about the firing, but the guy should get some anger management counseling. He lost control and really struggled to get it back. Then again, when badgers get into it with wolverines you’d expect a real Donnybrook.
  5. I think a lot of us are concerned we can’t convince you not to use a hair dryer in the bathtub, but what does that have to do with Biden and Putin today? NATO leadership knows exactly what they were getting when Biden was elected. He’s been in office for 25% of his term, and was VP for 8 years. Surely he had a plan to rebuild alliances, and established inroads over the past several years as he campaigned.
  6. Time to put away the yearbook, Bill. Joe Biden has been a central figure in American politics for 50 years, the current leadership on the house and senate for a long time as well. Tendencies are studied, calculations made and action taken. That his nefarious actions took place at this time, under this leadership, is quite telling.
  7. Hi Mup, In this case, I don’t agree with Trump speaking out. Actually I feel/felt that way about lots of things. That said, sadly this is the way the game is played. Virtually every democratic leader in power, and most major media outlets worked tirelessly to scuttle his presidency and pounced on every real, imagined or manufactured piece of red meat. From allegations of illegitimate presidency to allegations of treason to suggestions a coup occurred to stories about austere scholars being targeted with drone strikes, there was precious little done NOT designed to leverage the fears of the American people and destroy him. One quick for instance—when Biden and Obama were advised that the Clinton campaign was spreading disinformation with the Steele dossier, our country was engaged in a massive cafeteria food fight. If they knew, then surely Pelosi et al knew. If they all knew, surely highly placed sources knew as well. Did any of those individuals suggest a deep breath be taken, the good of the nation be considered, and the Clinton role in the alleged scandal be disclosed? Was there a call for transparency as people were at each others throats? Absolutely not. So, here we are. An unpopular president barely able to string together two or three cohesive sentences, a major crisis occurring on the watch of the guy full of bravado who suggested he was tougher’n Cornpop and Putin together. To take it one step further, Putin stayed out when Trump was in office, and started moving against Biden almost immediately. Alas, while it would be nice to come together and hold hands, that’s just not what political figures on that level do. You’re asking for too much.
  8. Kay, here’s the dealio. Tribalism is a fancy world for people being people, and there’s not much more to it than that. I visited Florida last week (the state, not hip hop singer extraordinaire Flo Rida to whose music you, @muppy and all your teeny bopper friends danced to at your sock hops or raves not all that long ago) and there were two old guys chatting in the pool. One guy was not so much anti-Trump as he was anti-Biden, the other not so much anti-Biden as “What do I know from supply chain issues and whattayagunnado?”. They talked for quite a while, loud af as I was trying to read my book in peace as the hot sun gently caressed my winter weary bones. I wanted to tell them to dial it down, or at least yell out “CAPITAL GAINS!!” when one geez was trying to remember what it was he was upset with Pelosi about regarding stock sales. Clearly they were not clients of @Chef Jim. I minded my business. The back and forth reminded me a bit of our site here, neither giving much ground, no problems solved, and of course not so much spicy language absent the cloak of invisibility present here. I’ve been reading many of the thoughts shared here today. Most of the back ‘n forth comes from muscle memory. We’ll have the obligatory cult reference, a reference to a poster long gone from this site, Biden is a tired old man commentary, castigation of Trump, and so on. My sense is most lack a fundamental understanding of what’s going on there, who’s to blame and how to fix it. I am counted among the faithful. My 22 year old son quite literally just asked me my thoughts on this crisis. Here’s the deal: In spite of my feelings about the current admin and how we got here, my hope is that somewhere, somehow someone with knowledge and leadership figures a way out of this mess with a minimum amount of loss of life, and protecting our National Interest as one of the top priorities. I’m that regard, we’re all part of the same tribe and the rest is just chit -chat. I particularly appreciate @sherpa his contributions and his thoughts here. God bless to all if they have people in harm’s way—military, civilian, or in whatever passes for “the old country”. For that matter, God bless to us all, the Ukrainians and innocent Rooskies wherever they may be.

  10. You’re looking at less than 1 in 2 at this point https://globalnews.ca/news/8492863/covid-19-vaccine-and-booster-tracker-coronavirus-canada/ That number is pretty pathetic especially in light of Napoleon Trudeauapart seizing control of everything Maple Leaf and the Canadian people supporting the play.
  11. There’s always an excuse to drop the boot, Bill.
  12. Lots of intolerance to go around in this one, as seems pretty typical.
  13. Actual photo of @Niagara Bill calling his old pal Leh-n to speak on the positivity of horse tramplins.
  14. Unwanted strangers, in the wrong part of town, looking to patronize a local establishment….who didn’t belong there, in an area restricted to a certain members of the community…intimidated physically by an unidentifiable member of law enforcement. Something about this sounds familiar, historically speaking.
  15. They heard ya, apparently. https://citizenfreepress.com/breaking/ottawa-police-brutality/
  16. Bill, how on earth do people keep falling for the “Russia” ploy? Do you really believe a full forensic review of the origin of the money has taken place in the past couple weeks? I think the intent of the law is to crush dissent and send a message for the next time.
  17. The protestors are not in Afghanistan, nor do they appear to be affiliated with the Taliban. In our system, the people entrust leaders to enact and enforce laws dealing with terrorist organizations, that’s where the right comes from. That brings me back to the original point—presumably law enforcement had the authority to enforce laws the protestors were violating, but that didn’t go far enough for Trudeau. In fact, he decided that crippling penalties were necessary for citizens not arrested or convicted of anything beyond donating to a cause they believed in. Imagine if your friend or family member was accused of a crime, and in support of their innocence you lent them money, or donated to help them defend themselves, and found out a week or two later that your assets were seized. Actually, in Canada, we don’t have to imagine that scenario. It’s playing out in real time.
  18. It’s not tough at all. You said it in your first sentence, though I would suggest formulating a scheme to seize assets in advance of due process is much, much more insidious than simple “overkill”. This is was a calculated plan designed to destroy and annihilate the opposition using the systems that people were conditioned to accept as safe throughout their lives. The good news in the US anyway, is that the entire populace has not been ground down to the point that they’ll accept a banker seizing lawfully earned money. Oy, Canada.
  19. Could be. Of course, that likely signals a failure in leadership at the highest level of the organization. The appropriate response would be to provide clear messaging, clear communication of strategy, with a clear understanding of adverse consequences for dereliction of duty. Yet, Trudeau opted to up the ante and ratchet up the power to destroy people. The Canadiens ultimately chose to place their trust in government and large corporations, said corporations apparently shielded from liability for improperly seized or frozen accounts. From what I can see online, there are questions as to how the banks and financial institutions are expected to comply with Trudeau’s directive(s), not at all unusual when a governing body decides to go off half-cocked. This should end well.
  20. The challenge for you and some of your countrymen is that they’ve convinced you that kneeling is comfortable and assured you that after a while, you’ll hardly even notice you’re doing it. If the protestors were violating laws, there is presumably a process to arrest them. Why didn’t that occur? Wouldn’t that have solved the problem without passing control over the assets of everyday working folk to what really amounts to Corporate Canada?
  21. @Backintheday544 and had this conversation the other day. I can understand Clinton seeking favorable coverage of her messaging, and steering clear of any sort of deep analysis into the actual filing, but going all in with Vanity Fair was almost unbelievably weak.
  22. Backstroke lover Always hidin tween the covers Til I talked to a daddy, he say ”You ain’t seen nothing til you’re down on C Muffins Then you’re sure to be a changin ways…” -Steven Tyler, circa 1978, on the original lyrics to Walk This Way. Holy crap, it was originally a love song.
  23. “A spicy story about another story is better than a factual recounting of the subject of the story.” -Cynthia Muffins Fair Publisher Emeritus Vanity Fair
  24. I get the appeal of a Vanity Fair expose….hard hitting infotainment, the latest trends and styles out of Hollywood, and a very strong online bra and panty offering. At the same time—and I’m not knocking you here, this is about sourcing—I don’t trust a damn thing until it’s picked up by Entertainment Tonight.
