  1. One of my friends from my old hometown football team (the Grenoble Centaures) will be at the game vs the Pats. He's about as crazy a Bills fan as I am and it will be his first game at the Ralph. He's gonna be there with a couple of friends from Montreal. Where should he go to have a few cold ones with some of you before the game? Is there a TBD zone or something?!!
  2. reminds me of my uncle.... pure socialist, his wife still involved in local politics, who was complaining last week end about all he lost on the trade market!! A guy who has for about 30 years the card of a party that calls for the end of capitalism!!!
  3. ???!!!!! you do live in SF or what?!!!
  4. Talking about genocides and faith... last night i saw a documentary about the Srevenisca mass killings in July 1995. Orthodox serbs killed 8,000 bosnian muslims, most of them civilians, in three days. Even i knew quite a bit about thoses events before, the details, images shown in that documentary were simple incredible. I really had a hard time to fall asleep after it...
  5. never heard about her before but great choice IMO

  10. i agree, don't know if any of you have been in the middle of a stampeding mob ... (i've been a couple of times in soccer stadiums) but there's no way you can affect it, all you can do is trying to get out of it fast and unhurt....
  11. i think it's in Milwaukee.... they call it : the Milwaukee Bucks
  12. Sedalia MO is in the middle of the corn plains of Mizzou... i doubt there's any wolves and bears there...
  13. Lot of Buffalo related stuff on P king's this morning... From his top15: 13. Miami (7-5). Odd game coming up -- versus sinking-like-a-stone Buffalo on the road, but in Toronto rather than Buffalo. So the Dolphins won't have the road problem playing in the snow. It might be a road game of relative indifference, but I have more faith in Bills' fans than those who think they won't show up in Canada, two hours from home. Goat of the Week Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo. Regardless of the weather, Lindell wears the horns this morning. From 40 yards-and-in entering the game, Lindell had made 56 straight field goals. In this game, he missed in the first half from 20 (HOW DO YOU MISS A 20-YARD FIELD GOAL?) and in the second half he missed from 40. In a 10-3 loss to a team Buffalo should have never lost to, those are ridiculously bad misses. The Way We Were Modern Kickers, all of them, vs. Pete Gogolak. Forty-five years ago, pro football had only straight-on kickers. Then, in the 1964 draft, Buffalo chose a revolutionary figure in pro football history, and not just because of what he did on the field -- Pete Gogolak. The soccer-style kicker from Cornell was picked in the 11th round, and promptly rocked pro football in an August exhibition game in Tampa, Fla. The American pro football record field goal at the time was 54 yards. Gogolak, in his first outing with the Bills, booted one from 57. An irreversible trend was born. As the NFL inches toward an all-time field-goal efficiency record -- the league's kickers have made 81 percent of their field goals entering Sunday's games -- I thought I'd do this category a little differently this week, thanks to longtime Buffalo football authority, peer and columnist Larry Felser, whose book, The Birth of the New NFL: How the 1966 NFL/AFL Merger Transformed Pro Football, is chock-full of great, great stories like Gogolak's, and will be one of the books I feature on my holiday shopping list in next week's full-service MMQB. Gogolak's 1966 defection actually led to the merger of the two leagues. At the time, the leagues had an unofficial truce -- neither league would raid the other league's veteran rosters. Rookies were fair game for competition, but not vets. Then, when Gogolak's contract expired after the 1965 season, Giants owner Wellington Mara signed Gogolak, enraging the AFL owners and starting a bidding war for players. Within weeks, the AFL signed Mike Ditka, John Brodie and Roman Gabriel; none ever played in the AFL, but their signings made the NFL take the AFL serious and forced the 1966 merger. The two leagues combined in time for the 1970 season. "Gogolak was the poison apple,'' Felser said Sunday. "Mara was Eve.''
  14. I've just learned reading the MMQB of Peter King on si.com that Dr Z has had two strokes last week. Mr Zimmerman is by far the best football writer in this World. I wish he'll be back soon. All my prayers for him!!

  17. i'm all for the International Bowl! The noon kickoff 'd make it a very viewable game for us in Europe! .... Forget about it!! in fact Jan 3rd noon ET, is the time of the first NFL playoff game... no chance they'll show the college bowl ...
  18. Probably not... But the O as bad as it is , is still the biggest stadium in Canada and actually a fun place when it's full like it was for the Grey cup last week end. We had the CFL on NASN those last few years but not this year, i really missed it... I really like their rules... That's now 5 lost finals for the Alouettes (and one win) since 2000...
  19. McNabb critics are funny.... When i think about McNabb, i always have those regrets coming back from the year he was drafted... He'd have been the prefect fit for the Bills, a starter for at least a decade, the perfect way to regionalise the franchise and win fans in Central NY... and we'd have given him much more respect that the never happy Eagles fans ever did... we should have trade up to take him... i remember guys laughing at me here when i proposed that at the time...
  20. you're prefectly right! and well her character in the movie made her probably more touching than the others
  21. She has that perfect face! And Scarlet does not look good in that blonde haircut.. while Penelope was more frigthning than sexy!
  22. of course Penelope... makes me think i saw the last W Allen movie last week with Cruz and Johansson and in fact the sexiest girl of the film was actually the "third" girl: Rebecca Hall: http://www.rebecca-hall.org/pictures/displ...um=62&pos=0
  23. The UK, Germany and France have decided last week to have a permanent mixed military force around the Aden Gulf and the South of the Red Sea to protect the commercial ships on their way to and from the Suez canal.
