  1. So Pegula's followed the wrong path by pouring money into an underachieving Sabres roster that was on the verge of playoffs in 2012 AND they're following the wrong path by gutting an underachieving Bills roster that was on the verge of playoffs in 2016?
  2. You mean he spends his days and nights doing things other than watching football and rewinding tapes of the last 17 seasons to dig up every bad nugget of this franchise? Since you keep telling us that you know football better than anyone else on this site, why haven’t you answered the question on why didn’t a single QB starved team make a play for a relatively cheap and super-available Tyrod Taylor last February & March? Do you think Cousins accepts a below market deal to return to Washington because there would be no takers?
  3. Don't you think that's part of the Process? They had a free option on 2017 and it almost worked out for them. It's also clear why Rico was their 3rd option for OC. Who knows maybe McCoy is available again after this season. I'd be a lot more upset if this roster is this poor next season
  4. Sounds like the story that was reported last week
  5. Well look who's getting sloppy now. Tell me, how many games did Roethlisberger apprentice under those guys? And the analogy isn't quite valid, because the Steelers are a model franchise of stability, which could get away with mediocre QB play. Why aren't you throwing out the example of the Colts with and without Peyton? Bills are not a model franchise at this moment, and if anything, McDermott is trying to build that foundation that others tried, but never succeeded because they never hit on the QB and ran out of owners' patience. The last guy who tried to do this kind of rebuild was Donahoe, and he'd still be here if he hit on the trade to get Ben. Winning 9 games this year with Tyrod and clinching the last playoff spot is immaterial from a long term perspective, because there would still be a gaping hole at QB. Bills can easily sign a Josh McCown or Brian Hoyer for one season while they wait for the rookie to ease into the league. Hell, Fitz will be available again
  6. Well look who jumped off the "draft a QB with the first pick" bandwagon. Didn't think it would be Tyrod who got you off the habit.
  7. Patrick Mahomes is the litmus test. They clearly thought they could get a Mahomes level talent in the '18 draft, but also get a free option to see if Tyrod can elevate his game. If they don't draft a QB early next year, then it's time to get the pitch forks out. It was, but they weren't going to get there with the way TT played recently. In any event, looks like Dareus's trade was a far greater impact on the team, and I'm not afraid to admit that I was wrong about the trade
  8. If you feel confident about your rookie, why not against a mistake prone 3-6 team? The move clearly backfired, but the franchise QB is not on this roster and they need to keep looking.
  9. You're not going to find the QB by playing Tyrod. Now you can cross both QBs off the list and keep moving on
  10. Having two bad QBs on the roster is part of the problem. Look up the other thread where my opinion of Petermans performance wouldn't change an iota that they need to draft a QB high
  11. Not ready for prime time, or 1 pm or 4pm
  12. Never mind the eye test, and that no QB worthy teams made a play for Tyrod when he was clearly available in March. But if you want unsubstantiated claims, here's one, here's another, and another. People can decide on their own. I had a post last year, which I can't find on the new board where I went through each of his last drives when trailing by 8 or less, and not only had he not come back, but only managed something like 2 first downs in TOTAL. So yeah, my opinion is unsubstantiated. Meanwhile let's take a look at your solution to make Tyrod a QB - keep all the weapons around him and help him out. So, let's add up the numbers since we know the true market values of all the players. In your world, to give Tyrod the supporting cast that he needs, means allocating $30 million to 4 players. But yeah, that's a realistic solution to roster management.
  13. I don't know how much more clear I can be in my take. I'll repeat it for the resident narcissists and others who are incapable of seeing others' opinions. Tyrod's stats are overstated because he is one of the worst QBs to generate points or to get first downs when they're needed most. That's why he only has two fourth quarter comeback wins, and I think this year was the first year he won when trailing by more than 4 points in the second half. But other than that, he's a great QB to have, and that's why there was zero interest in his services last March. But I'm sure you'll tell us why you know more than every single QB starved team in the league.
  14. Last season, as in 2016? When out of 9 drives they had 5 three and outs vs Baltimore. You know the game that gave us the hashtag "Make him a QB?"
  15. And another case of cherry picking stats to support both sides of the issue by poster formerly known as BODOL-something. Because it's another case where the best ever, all time Bills' arm chair analyst knows better than the collective NFL front office staffs. It must be something that the entire league is missing in not jumping on a totally available Tyrod Taylor last March. Here's a fun game to play in your cherry picked analysis. How many of those points in the losses came after the game was completely out of hand? Just the NE & Pitt game added 2 pts/game to the average losses How does leading the league in 3rd & outs affect the defense? I could argue that getting at least one needed 1st down in fourth Q vs Dolphins & Raiders leads to wins. And those are the things that don't show up on the stat sheet, but make the difference between winning & losing. And I'm certain that next year when the Bills have moved on from Tyrod, you'd be using these stats to support whatever position the wind takes you.
  16. This is how bad it's gotten for Bills fans that people are thankful that we're not in the bottom rung of QB play. I still think that Tyrod's and offensive numbers in 2015 & 2016 are grossly overrated wrt actual production. In a sense, his production can be categorized by scoring a hell of a lot of points that weren't needed in the wins and not scoring points when they were needed in a loss. Of course that could apply to any situation. But in Bills' case, it's specific to TT needing to move the ball, get first downs and maybe score when the pressure is on. In that regard, he's one of the league's worst. And that's why a 2nd Bills regime put him on the bench and he garnered no interest last February. "Make him a quarterback"
  17. Now you understand why many people favor a flat tax. Eliminate distortive deductions, set a low flat rate and have a 3 line tax return for individuals. Ron Johnson's stand against the tax differential between corporations and small businesses is asinine and pandering. That's a ridiculous stand to take if it derails reform.
  18. Completed pass to Jack Nicklaus’s grandson.
  19. Have these people watched the Bills offense this year?
  20. I'm thinking about a remark someone made about the 80s a few years back.
  21. Same as if TT has a bad game on Sunday. They need to draft a QB early in 2018, and sign a good QB if he's available in March.
  22. What's the difference between a 3 and out inside your own 10, with opponent getting the ball at the 50 after a punt - and a 5 down drive with an INT at the 50?
  23. You guys don't have to believe me, but I was going to post about Franken in the Weinstein thread last week, as another one who should be watching over his shoulder.
  24. Except that there was a new regime, and by the time Taylor needed to make a decision he knew that Woods and Goodwin were gone. He or his agent surely foresaw a housecleaning. His agent shopped him around and came up with nothing better than low end starter money.
  25. That was a big part of Monday's discussion by the WGR guys. They highlighted that the ball left Peterman's hand a full two steps before Matthews made his break. I don't think I've ever seen TT throw that early. In fact, on several plays in the beginning of the season some of the incompletes came with the ball delivered after the WR broke and that allowed the DB to close in for the hit.
