  1. Yeah... we intend to stay here for good. However; we'll always keep our options open. Yes, there is a skilled labor shortage, but it is partially because NZ is expeciencing the lowest unemployment in history. (At least here in Nelson.) (Plus... I have some pretty good qualifications that Council was in need of. Not to toot my own horn) Yup... kaikoura is very nice. I spent some time there when I was here on Recon in March. There is sea life EVERYWHERE. When I was in Akaroa... I went out on a boat ride with a guy a met at the local cafe. Anyway... in 10 minutes, we saw dolphins, seals and even penguins. (Whales are quite common too although we didn't see them) Thanks for the offer for recommendations, but I've already been given A TON on "inside" information from all of my new Kiwi friends. I can't wait... two more days until my wife and kids arrive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO BILLS!
  2. Too bad you're back in the States. Springtime is arriving here and ITS GORGEOUS!! Blue water... palm trees, snow-capped mountains... (Although Autumn in the Finger Lakes is still my favorite place/time) If you're ever down here again, look me up!
  3. Are you down in Dunedin right now??? I moved out to Nelson (Top of the South Island) three weeks ago from the states Yeah... that game kicked ass last night. I still can't believe that I came on this Bills board this morning and saw an "All Blacks" report! Just so you know... The All Blacks and Crusaders are undefeated since I've been in NZ. (My visit out in March included.) What brings you down under? Do you live here too or just visiting? I came to a horrible conclusion last week at work (Nelson City Council) when I realized that since we're 18+ hours ahead of the States, that all of the NFL games will be played while I'm at work on Modays! Argh! If you find yourself up in the Nelson area drop me a line. My wife and kids finally fly out to Chirstchurch this coming Tuesday morning. I've been DYING with out them here. Cheers, Mark "The Kiwi"
  4. So, you're ripping on the guy becuase he wants to lose weight? Ha! ****... looking at the pictures of you guys on the board... 90% of you could lose 50 pounds. (Yeah... I could lose about 20)
  5. FEAR... FEAR... FEAR... FEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Screw the crap on the tube. My family has been TV free for a little over three years now. Unplug you Television, Liberate your Mind. Yes... this also allows me to head out to the pub to watch Bills games.
  7. I knew a guy in college that also had three balls...
  8. Great... now all of the White-Trash camo wearing Yahoos are gonna get behind this a-hole. "Wang dang... I'm gonna run for governor!"
  9. This same exact thing happened about 10 years ago in Colorado when I used to live there. WTF??
  10. Bledsoe came in to the Portland Bills Backers bar a couple years ago. (The day after we drafted Willis I think) Anyway... he was a really nice guy. He walked around the entire pub simply BS'ing with people. He signed me hat and even wrote a note for my wife on a bar napkin, because I told him that she was due with our second child that week.
  11. Thanks for all the kind words guys. (and gals.) I honestly can't believe that this is happening. Check this out... About 4 or 5 years ago, my wife and I started bs'ing about how cool it would be to move to NZ. The more we thought about it... the better and better it sounded. I researched 100's of hours about it through books and online. ANyway... I learned that when polled... most NZ'ers would like to live in the city of Nelson. (Top, middle of the South Island.) THis past March I flew there and spent 3 weeks scooping out what would be the best area to live. I also chose Nelson. (Abel Tasman Nt'l Park and Golden Bay are directly towards the west, with Nelson Lakes Nt'l Park being the southern boarder.) The land was incredible that the people were the best people I've ever met. (And I've met some damn fine people.) Anyway... I decided to drop off a resume at City Hall. (I currently work for my local city as a Civil Engineering Tech.) They e-mailed me thanking me for my resume but told me that there wasn't any openings, but I should pay attention to their website for openings... Sure enough, about two weeks passed and there was the perfect job. EXACTLY what I do here in the States. (With added authority.) I applied for it... exchanged e-mails/drawings and had a phone interview for an hour and a half. Then Wednesday I got the word... They want me to start on August 1st! YEA MAMA! (WE've already had a couple look at our house. We're selling the house FULLY STOCKED. It'll come with everything except the two suitcases that we'll each bring.) You may not know me... but keep me in your good thoughts. My little family will be facing MANY challenges in the near future. GO BILLS!
  12. I just got the call. The Engineering postion that I have been interviewing for in New Zealand was just offered to me!! New Zealand... here I come!!! a dream come true... (Wasn't someone just asking if there are any Bills Bars Down Under?)
  13. Geez... keep your kid at home. What the hell ever happened to little ones just watching Mr Rogers and Sesame Street?
  14. G'Day Mate! Sorry, but I doubt you'll find a Bills Bar. Right now... everyone is only talking about one thing. NEW ZEALAND ALL BLACK RUGBY! I sent three weeks on the South Island in March and am currently in the interview process with The Nelson City Council in regards to a Engineering opening there. (Nelson is located on the Top of The South Island. If you're in the North (and can't spend time in the South Is.) I recommend going to Raglan. (Great beach town) Auckland isn't really that impressive, though However, you're sure to love the Kiwi style!
  15. The next best sport would have to be... New Zealand Rugby Union! (Go Cantebury Crusaders!!!!!!) I'm interviewing for a job down there... so I better start rooting!
  16. I would love to see him here. My brother-in-law was his pee wee coach in Iowa and is his dads fishing buddy. (I could get free swag!) Sign him TD!
  17. Jim Kelly as a politician? C'mon... the guy could sure through a spiral, but... geez! When will you people in Western NY learn???
  18. How DARE they say bad things about the Military!!! We should send these whiners to Gitmo. Rumsfelds ethics and candor are unquestionable!
  19. GREAT news! That was one helluva show! (So was the parking lot before the show...) (The July '90 show was even better though...)
