  1. Are you 10? You believe what people say to the Media? If the Bills wanted him, he would be signed by now. Stevie is gone.
  2. Rotating Bye Week player! Hollah! ESPN You can pay back by extending my Insider account infinitely.
  3. SJ proved one thing. He works hard in practice and in the classroom and performs on the field. This is the type of player a smart team invests in, especially coming off a 7th rounder deal. No one questions his work ethic and his work ethic has paid off to performance on the field. The same cannot be said for Peters. However not signing a player because they may hold out sometime in their career is tant amount to sitting on the sideline with your thumb up your behind. The Bills had 3 season to see the type of player Stevie is and had more than enough ammunition to make a decision. The "Let's wait and see if this guy screws up next year, so we can get a deal." Is the way to lose talented players and remain mired in mediocrity.
  4. The combine is a marketing event. The flip side of this argument, is that you can find just as good talent in round 5 as you can in round 2 and the draft isn't just about the first 20 picks making an impact. Which btw shows why having additional draft picks is so important even if they are in the 4th round, You get to "flip the coin" a few more times.
  5. The point is they DO NOT HAVE A LIMITED BUDGET. The cash to the cap system is not a bad system. The Buffalo Bills do not have a budget issue. Making poor personal decisions over many years and not being able to lure free agents are not symptoms of a budget issue. The Bills could be $200M under the cap and Mario Williams will still not sign with Buffalo Bills. So again. Yes the Bills have problems. Yes they continuously make poor personal decisions. There is no reason to correlate these issues with payroll. The money is there to spend if they can get someone to take it. i.e. making Stevie Johnson a priority the day the lockout ended and agreeing to probably a lower contract than he will receive in Free Agency this March would have been a smart personnel move instead of digging another hole on the roster. The problem is not a matter of available dollars to spend. The problem is the Bills organization not understanding who, how, and when to spend the available dollars.
  6. "The Bills 20M under cap" needs to put into perspective. The Patriots have more cap space than the Bills. The NFL is not the NBA the teams are not spending up to the cap. If half of the teams have an extra 15+ Million dollars there is no relative advantage to the Bills in the Free Agent Market. Most teams have extra money to spend so most teams can go after Free Agents with the same extra cap space that the Bills have, meaning there is no advantage to the extra space in 2012 because everyone has the same advantage. Its not about the money its how you use it. Every team has money that is not the issue with the Buffalo Bills. Enticing Free Agents that can make an impact to sign with the Bills is the issue. The money is there and can be spent.
  7. Happy Birthsday Jim. Only 3 more years before Chad Kelly is a Buffalo Bill.
  8. By the way it is "You're talking" and "any potential playoff team's bench" besides the grammatical issues. That is your opinion based on your wealth of knowledge but not a generally accepted opinion, thanks for the knowledgeable, well thought out enlightenment.
  9. Are you not familiar with the term Priority UDFA? That's gonna hurt your already awesome scouting cred. Doesn't really matter how many walk ons are at the University of Florida since David Nelson was the 58th-overall prospect in the country and sixth at the wide receiver position coming out of High School and like I said before he received an atheltic scholarship at a skilled position in one of the best football programs in the country.
  10. Yeah Nelson was a scholarship WR at the university of Florida because he has no talent and no hands. spot on assessment, you should write for Football Outsiders. Maybe it was Tim Tebow's lack of throwing ability that caused Nelson to become a priority UDFA? No, like BPA says he was an UDFA because Nelson has no talent and no hands. Because BPA is an awesome judge of talent. BPA should be on the Bills' scouting staff.
  11. What the hell are you talking about? I AM TELLING you that I think that when you talk about where a WR stack ranks in line in stats it gives you little to no value. We're talking about 74 yards and 2 TDs different in a 16 game schedule. Instead of saying "tied for #6 and tied for #21" say "9TDs and 7TDs" It is meaningless to bring up where someone stank ranks in a season. I am saying you need to look at empirical numbers not stank ranking and certaintly not gold stars.
  12. You just proved my point. We're talking about 0.9 yds/game. Which means that stank ranking is irrelevant.
  13. I didn't exclude anything or cherry pick. Dez has 9TDs Stevie had 7, its right there in my post. But instead of saying 7 and 9 you want to say Stevie is 24th (Actually, infact he is tied for 21st and Dez Bryant is tied for 6th) Like I said before stank ranking means nothing to me; we're talking about 2 TDs over 16 game different; not "9th" and "24th". What the player does on the team in the offensive system is more important. What is so hard to understand about that?
  14. Thats great that you find value in that. However I don't understand how it has any value. You need to look at real world in game yards, TD, and 1st down performance and the effect on that team. It has almost no meaning that Stevie Johnson got 54 less yards than AJ Green. I really don't know what comparing different offenses and where they stack up means. Lets look at the real numbers: 11 Mike Wallace (Pit) 72 1,193 16.6 74.6 95 8 12 Hakeem Nicks (NYG) 76 1,192 15.7 79.5 68 7 13 Dwayne Bowe (KC) 81 1,159 14.3 72.4 52 5 14 Marques Colston (NO) 80 1,143 14.3 81.6 50 8 15 Antonio Brown (Pit) 69 1,108 16.1 69.3 79 2 16 Vincent Jackson (SD) 60 1,106 18.4 69.1 58 9 17 A.J. Green (Cin) 65 1,057 16.3 70.5 58 7 18 Nate Washington (Ten) 74 1,023 13.8 63.9 57 7 19 Stevie Johnson (Buf) 76 1,004 13.2 62.8 55 7 20 Darrius Heyward-Bey (Oak) 64 975 15.2 65.0 58 4 21 Percy Harvin (Min) 87 967 11.1 60.4 52 6 22 Brandon Lloyd (Den/StL) 70 966 13.8 64.4 44 5 23 DeSean Jackson (Phi) 58 961 16.6 64.1 62 4 24 Reggie Wayne (Ind) 75 960 12.8 60.0 56 4 25 Julio Jones (Atl) 54 959 17.8 73.8 80 8 26 Greg Jennings (GB) 67 949 14.2 73.0 79 9 27 Pierre Garcon (Ind) 70 947 13.5 59.2 87 6 28 Jabar Gaffney (Was) 68 947 13.9 59.2 45 5 29 Jason Witten (Dal) 79 942 11.9 58.9 64 5 30 Dez Bryant (Dal) 63 928 14.7 61.9 50 9 31 Aaron Hernandez (NE) 79 910 11.5 65.0 46 7 Because Dez Bryant is the #30 WR and got 76 less yards the Steven Johnson is Dez Bryant 21 slots worse than Stevie Johnson? You tell me what that means, because I don't believe it is relevant at all. Nelson performs on the field and performs well. He gives the Bills a 3rd option to get first down, TDs, and yards and is very effective at his role. Yeah you can call it nit picking I call it fact checking. If you're going to write an article about the Buffalo Bills and you get the facts wrong but come to the obvious conclusion that everyone knows, do you really write anything of value? The Bills need a DE and to sign Stevie; Wow ground breaking. HOwever the rest of the article is lazy. If this is their level of reporting about the Bills does the other assessments of other teams have any value?
  15. What does this have to do with SJ13 being a starter for 2 years. Which outsiders said he wasn't. BTW Nice move not putting the empirical data out there: 2011 Buffalo Bills 16 16 76 1,004 13.2 55 7 2010 Buffalo Bills 16 13 82 1,073 13.1 45 10 and twisting to mean something else. Numbers look mostly the same to me. BTW Lee Evans played for the Bills in 2010 Lee Evans 2010 Buffalo Bills 13 13 37 578 15.6 54 4 David Nelson 2011 Buffalo Bills 16 13 61 658 10.8 35 5 I was just pointing out that the bumbling stumbling buffoon of a WR that can only catch passes when he is wide open In your opinion, David Nelson outperformed the WR you claimed was the "#1" WR in 2010. I was backing you up
  16. "#1" is fan speek. Stevie was a starter for 2 years. And if you want to look at numbers "#1" for two years. That's great that you have an opinion. I can't remember a single Nelson catch where he didn't have a guy draped on him. I don't think your opinion is close to reality though. Thanks I mistyped. Well let's start that Nelson's production in 2011 is more than the player you claim was the "#1" in 2010. Is that a start? There will never be another Bruce Smith. Bruce Smith played DE in a 3-4 and got number that more double any other career 3-4 De. Dareus is not a DE in a 4-3 he is an interior lineman. There is no comparison. Dareus role when drafted today tomorrow and forever will never be to get sacks. He is not in a position to get double digit sacks. People just stop with the sack talk and Dareus. Sacks are a nice to have when it comes to 3-4 d-line or 4-3 interior D-line. It's generally not a designed play when they get sacks.
  17. Word. Nelson has Size, Shiftiness, and strength. He can and does make plays. You can't cover him well with a CB or a LB. He has good hands. He creates mismatches and then takes advantages of them. Either way the Outsiders are waaaaaaayyyy outside on this one.
  18. Um Stevie Johnson started two years in a row. David Nelson has playmaking ability. Wanny isn't a new hire. They switched to the 3-4 two seasons ago. Yeah besides that spot on.
  19. It was a ****ty pick. The Entire Draft world was like, "Who? Oh typical Buffalo draft some small conference stand out way too early." I liked Cody there, or Kindle there. Both may not have been a great pick in retrospect either, but I really don't think Gronk was on the Bills radar at the time. As I have a noted NFL draft problem. I really don't see Gronk in my ratings and rants for that draft, and don't recall a lot of chatter on this board before the draft about Gronk. I do recall a lot of Mt. Cody talk though. So it wasn't just Nix that missed out on Gronk it was most of this board. Until 2011 comes around then everyone thought it would have been a great pick.
  20. Oh so a college kid smokes some weed and the Bills decide not to draft a pretty much guaranteed stud at TE in the 4th round over a guy that walked on to a nothing football program like UCONN. Genius decision making.
  21. Gronk at the time wasn't really on the table. I think its a bit of revisionist history to say the Bills shoulda coulda woulda with Gronk. Hernandez in the 4th over Easley was the real issue. Hernandez was a target in the second possibly over Gronk and definitely in the 3rd. Then when he was there in the 4th, I was getting ready to order my Hernandez Jersey. But we took Marcus "F'In" Easley!!! Talk about an injury risk. A 1 year wonder at UCONN over an All American TE like Hernandez who played at a powerhouse like Florida!!! That was the real botch job.
  22. Plus I'm 100% sure that the Giants defense gave up less points than the Patriots Defense in the Super Bowl Round???!!
  23. Oh yeah it says that in Big Letters at the top, How about that . . .
  24. um, The San Francisco 49ers have a great defense, They lost the NFC Championship team however to the #1 ranked defense in the playoffs, so I'm not really sure what you're getting at. Either way if the 9ers win the Super Bowl or if the Giants win the Super Bowl it is easier to argue that "Defense wins Championships" than "a balanced team with an equal good offense and a defense wins championships." Not that I'm arguing one way or another. I'm just saying the whole argument is mastabatory.
  25. No one is going to mention the Ronnie Harmon drop? That was devastating. We were so bad for so long there was real fear that we may never get back to the playoffs with that young team. Although we all know now that was just a learning experience but at the time it was completely devastating. I was just a wee lad in middle school and its possible I know someone that knows a friend of a friend that was crying profusely after that game.
