I think that it is really tough to get an kind of accurate gauge of the team from this game. The conditions were terrible, even hard to watch on TV because of the wind and the sun. A few of my thoughts - 1. Need to see more Coleman, not sure why he got the early hook in both halfs 2. MCW needs to slow down and let the offense develop, he seemed to be pressing/hurrying and it created a lot of TO's 3. Triche is a beast, he will have the ball at the end of games this yeaer 4. Xmas and all our bigs looked enormous out there and controlled the paint 5. So many foul calls, and not many for the Cuse 6. SDSU has a very athletic team, they will be good this year especially in the conference they play in. But the Cuse made them look terrible - we have a talented team and Jimmy needs to be the one to put that together and make it work. 7. I hope this is the last game Cuse plays on a boat...get back to the dome. 8. Seth Davis commented on twitter that a bunch of scouts noticed Coleman as being the most NBA ready prospect from either team in practices this week - thought that was interesting.

I love the start of SU basketball because it takes away the sting of 12 years of Buffalo bills losing. It is about this time of year that they have played their way out of relevance.

Pooj, I am pumped for Sunday to see Xmas and Coleman on the floor together. I cannot believe Coleman's size for a Frosh. On a side note, I caught that UK all access on espn and was completely impressed with Nerlens Noel. So wish we could have gotten that one and done.

GBID - Here are my recommendations for you (my wife and I moved to PDX about 12 years ago from the Cuse) The vibe in Portland tends to be a little weird, local, but very cool. Here are some things that my wife and I totally love about Portland Voo Doo donuts is cool, but the donuts are nothing special Bunk Sandwiches is a great spot to get an awesome lunch Pine State Biscuits is an awesome breakfast spot (usually got a good line if you show up after 9am)/The Screen Door is another great Breakfast joint I would definitely take a drive up to Mt. Hood - it is beautiful, go up to Government Camp, check out Timberline Lodge www.timberlinelodge.com and go for a little day hike/stroll/whatever. Also, the recommendation to do a Multnomah Falls run is a good idea (it's only about 35 minutes east of PDX) Oregon is known for it's Pinots and if you guys are wine fans I would totally go on a wine tasting tour in Newberg/Mcminnville (again only about a half hour out of pdx). One that is a little pricey but has great wine is Cana's Feast Vineyard www.canasfeastwinery.com Portland also has some awesome local breweries that are worth checking out - they have pub/brewery tours where a driver will take you all around town for the 4-5 hours. If you want to go high end on a dinner out I would recommend El Gaucho steakhouse (the best in town) or Portland City Grill (the best view in town at 30 stories up). The Oregon coast is cool if you have time (about 2 hour drive), I would absolutely recommend going to Cannon Beach - it has some good shopping, good local seafood, a great walking beach. It is usually pretty chilly and windy at the coast, bring a jacket. NW 23rd is a great street for shopping, walking, dining out - cool place in the city to spend a few hours. And if you guys are into live music - absolutely check a couple of websites (we like the Roseland theater, Alladin theater, Crystal Ballrooom). I could probably go all day, if you are looking for some more ideas - let me know!

I kind of agree here, it would be great to see some well executed football in the preseason. This might temper expectations a touch...

This has been written every preseason of the past ten years...and still haven't made the playoffs. I want to see the first team offense function well, make plays, score a touchdown. I don't think Lindell needs to make anymore 35 yard August FG's. Watch Aaron Rogers in a preseason game...promise you won't have to make excuses for him

Well, I went to the Nike employee store out here in Portland to buy my son one, didn't have any other than a bills tshirt (which I bought). He proceeded to pick out a panthers jersey which caused a great deal of consternation on my part...went with the best I could get, I don't even like cam newton. Might still be hope for my 2 year old though
