Report: Bills express interest in Kenny Britt
1billsfan replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This tells me that the Bills don't really want to trade up for Watkins (I hope they at least try), that they're really not excited about Evans and that they will go defense, Ebron or Matthews at #9. -
Gil Brant is one of the most well respected evaluators there are. I might think about taking the risk and drafting Evans in the second round, but I wouldn't think about drafting a player with such serious questions in his skills at #9. Especially at a position that has accounted for so many first round busts. BTW, none of these links even touched on his maturity issues. His getting upset and acting out on the sideline comes across as a kid throwing a tantrum and who has some growing up to do. He's 20, I get that he IS still a kid. However, I need a much more mature player that's not going to take a couple of years just to grow up mentally with as high of a pick the Bills are picking at in the first round.

Taylor Lewan Charged With Assault?
1billsfan replied to BIllsNation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I had a discussion in another thread a while back regarding this incident and wondered why there were no charges brought on Lewan when they had eye witnesses to what happened. I'll bet that the local police were getting some serious heat over their inaction and this is why charges were finally brought. I wouldn't take Lewan as an undrafted player let alone using a draft pick on him. -
I think many Bills fans voting for Evans (the voting majority so far) are simply not doing their homework on him. They only see what they want to see and they either don't know about his flaws, or aren't taking them seriously. In this "once in a decade" premium draft class, that #9 pick should be used on a prospect who is projected as a near flawless and/or elite player as possible. The Bills aren't picking high enough for the "lock" prospects, but that doesn't mean that it's ok for them to roll the dice on a "boom or bust" prospect like Mike Evans just because of his size. I've taken the time to provide links describing Evans' boom/bust profile. If after reading them you still want the Bills to pick him then so be it, I'm glad you aren't the Bills GM… http://www.nfl.com/n...from-extra-year Gill Brandt -…"a big issue I have with Evans is that he's not a good route runner. He often pushes off on his defender and gains a big advantage with offensive pass interference." http://www.behindthe...ects-mike-evans "In the right offense I believe Evans could be a solid player in the NFL for a while. That offense however has to be one that manufactures space between Evans and his defender so he can use his size to gain YAC. Relying on him to get separation in a 1-on-1 match-up would be a mistake. In the NFL he is going to need more than just great hands and great size to be a top caliber player. http://nosebleednote...bust-potential/ "Projecting an event in which the result takes years to come to fruition is not easy. Evans will need to underwhelm in proportion to where he is drafted, likely in the first 16 picks, to be labeled a bust. His inability to run NFL-style routes well, his inflated statistics due to such a large size gap from the competition, and his lack of strong, sturdy hands are clearly leading him on that track." Now, the reason I like Eric Ebron so much is that he is projected to be an elite at his position. This article has a draft analyst stating he's the cleanest TE prospect since Vernon Davis… http://fansided.com/...n-davis/#!AFb4h

One can only hope that this "new" story of this continued, well known, yet completely ignored rules breaking by the Pats will finally force loser commissioner Goodell into forming a real investigation followed up with a real penalty. I'm surprised the players association hasn't gone after the Pats since it hurts their players in contract negotiations.

Is Evans working with James Lofton on how to not act like a big baby on the sidelines? I'd draft Kelvin Benjamin before I'd draft Mike Evans.

The top 5 tight ends in the league averaged 11.4 TDs last year. Scott Chandler had 2. Chandler is one of the worst starting TEs in the league... http://www.footballo...rs.com/stats/TE IMO they only signed Chandler because they needed a reliable second TE to go with a new offense featuring a 2 TE formation with Eric Ebron flexed out and with Johnson and Woods as the featured wide outs. I think Revis signing with the Pats for two years only solidifies the Bills picking Ebron who Revis can't cover even if they did move him from his island position on the outside. As for Evans, he wouldn't even be on my first round board since I think he's got a high probability to be a bust as a first round pick. IMO the guy is built and plays like a TE and will be forced into the WR position which he just doesn't look athletic or agile enough to play at a high level.

Just look at how much national press the last two superbowl champions Ravens and Seahawks have or had received. Not that much in the grand scheme of things. It's all about the Broncos, Cowboys, Patriots, and Jets. That's the national media Mount Rushmore for ratings. The Bills don't exist unless they do "Hard Knocks" or win a superbowl and even then they would fade back into the background much more quickly than the Ravens and Seahawks.

Props for you coming back in your own thread and admitted a change of heart regarding Evans. I hope the Jets draft him...LOL I'm big on Ebron but I'm worried the Falcons take him at #6. If they don't, IMO he's the Bills' final piece to get EJ, the offense and this team up off the mat and into the playoffs. As for the second round pick, I think there will be a player there that people were shocked to see available. I don't know what position they play, but that's the guy you draft.

Bills Top 9 War Room Picks for 1st Rd.
1billsfan replied to Owen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Teams like the Pats and Saints use their freakishly athletically gifted TEs like a feature WR. That's how Ebron is going to be used in the NFL unless the OC is an idiot. Which ever team picks him will no doubt use him flexed out the majority of the time and this guy should rack up huge numbers due to the obvious mismatches being covered by small CBs or slow footed LBs. IMO you don't avoid picking players because the "group think" world says that TEs only serve as supporting players. Especially when your "group think" three WR offense had one of the worst redzone offenses in the NFL. The Bills need to change their thinking. Change their offense. Because continuing doing something that isn't working is a recipe for failure. The Bills picking Ebron would be the dramatic change that I think the Bills offense needs. They would literally have a mismatch waiting to happen in every game. The offense would be run through Jackson/Spiller on the ground and Ebron in the air with occasional passes over the top to speedy WRs to keep the defense on their heels. The three touchdown thing doesn't worry me that much. College football is weird in that some players are just better fits for the NFL than in college. He did show himself to be a real playmaker. That TD catch against Wake Forrest was truly outrageous. That's a guy who will know how it's done in the NFL. -
Bills Top 9 War Room Picks for 1st Rd.
1billsfan replied to Owen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can blame everyone but Chandler. However, common sense should tell you that 4 TDs in 30 games is true bottom of the barrel production for a TE and that it's a position the Bills need and will look for a huge upgrade in talent. Also, common sense should tell you that the Bills just spent 2nd and 3rd round picks on WRs in their last draft and have no intention of drafting a WR in the first couple of rounds in 2014. Finally, a great TE is a young QBs best friend. EJ Manuel is still on the launching pad. IMO Eric Ebron will be the Bills pick if he's still there at #9. -
Bills Top 9 War Room Picks for 1st Rd.

Ok then, who is EJ passing the ball to in the endzone? It certainly isn't Scott Chandler. -
Bills Top 9 War Room Picks for 1st Rd.
1billsfan replied to Owen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Scott Chandler has had 4 TDs in his last 30 games. The Bills redzone offense has been stick in reverse ranking 29th in passing TDs in the league last year. Still feel that way? -
Re: With the 1st pick of the 2014 Draft...
1billsfan replied to JTO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills really want Ebron and it's a very smart personnel move to pick him. Chandler has had only 4 touchdowns in his last 30 games. Think about that. The other guys are pretty much nobodies. Ebron is a game changer and a couple years down the road there will be more than a few teams wishing they didn't pass on him in the top 10. -
It's going to be a long two months as both the Ebron and Evans sides harden as the one the Bills should take at #9. I'm pretty positive it's going to be Ebron, Evans or Benjamin (in a trade down). They have to get EJ a main target, there's too much riding on his success this year. I think it goes without saying fans will eventually rally behind the guy the pick once the season starts.

I almost spit my drink out after reading this!...LOL I have no want for the Bills picking Mike Evans at all. The more I look at this guy the more I see a big huge NFL bust. He seems like a head case, he seems like a big baby when he gets upset, his body type is a TE and not that of an NFL WR. I'd seriously take Kelvin Benjamin at #9 over Evans because at least he has the body type of a WR and him and EJ have a big connection. I'm hoping more and more Bills fans jump off the Mike Evans bandwagon and jump onto the much more sure thing Eric Ebron bandwagon. Dude's a baller, dude's a winner, and you can tell just by listening to him dude's gonna be an NFL star.

Mike Evans - does this effect how you feel a/b him?
1billsfan replied to RalphOP83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This tells me that Mike Evans is a dope. I didn't want the Bills picking him anyways so it doesn't change my mind. I want either Eric Ebron or Jake Matthews at #9. You want a both a baller and an intelligent football player at #9. Pass. -
Sammy Watkins, worth trading up for? What cost?
1billsfan replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd trade Marcell Dareus to whichever team wanted to swap picks for the chance to draft Watkins. I'm serious. Why? Because IMO Dareus is a player that doesn't give full effort and he won't justify a huge contract after 2014. Also, I get the feeling he doesn't like being a Bill, that he wants to play closer to home and I'd like the Bills to get something very positive from his departure unlike what happened with Byrd. I'd be nice if we could pick up Wilfork for a couple of years and groom a later round DT, but I'd still do the trade regardless. -
Scott chandler re signs with Bills
1billsfan replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's trying to make a case that the Bills are all set with Chandler as their starting TE and he failed. Notice that when I pointed out Chandler has scored a measly 4 TDs in the last 30 games he stopped responding to my posts? Any Bills fan who is accepting of that kind of production from for our TE position is plain and simply delusional. Chandler is a bottom of the barrel NFL starter. The Bills and specifically their 1st rd QB pick EJ Manuel deserve to get the best TE they can this offseason. It's not Scott Chandler, hopefully they draft Eric Ebron who will become one of the best TEs in the NFL. -
Trade Stevie Johnson to Carolina, they have no WRs
1billsfan replied to Security's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, trade away the one WR who owns Revis who now plays for our biggest division rival the Pats. Brilliant! -
Post combine, FA and personell interviews...
1billsfan replied to Armchair GM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unlike a lot of the draft sites, I think that Ebron is one of the last true elite players in this draft. I would put the order of the non-QB elite players as... 1. Clowney 2. Watkins 3. Robinson 4. Matthews 5a. Mack 5b. Ebron I think what impact Mack brings on defense, Ebron brings the same impact on offense. So if I'm correct, then the Bills would be fortunate to see Ebron still there at #9. There's always a player that the draft sites are off with their ranking and I think that player is him. We shall see come draft day who's right. -

You're not getting Ebron if you trade back more than one or two spots. The Bills will be lucky if Atlanta doesn't take him at #6. -
Scott chandler re signs with Bills
1billsfan replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just went back in your Scott Chandler time machine and saw that he had 4 TDs in those first four games of 2012. Bravo for finding that… …however, over the last 30 games Scott Chandler has played for the Bills he has had exactly 4 TDs. I repeat, Scott Chandler has had FOUR TDs in the last THIRTY games. You seriously need to get over Eric Ebron becoming a Buffalo Bill...LOL -
Scott chandler re signs with Bills
1billsfan replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You do realize that your team was 29th in the league in scoring TDs in the redzone last year, don't you? They also spent a 1st round pick on a QB last year who by most accounts is going into his make or break year. So maybe you need to get over not wanting the best TE on the Bills. Of course we're talking about Eric Ebron at #9 here. -
Scott chandler re signs with Bills
1billsfan replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This signing has no bearing on the Bills picking Ebron at #9 or not. It's simply insurance for them not to have a gaping hole at TE if Ebron were perhaps taken by the Falcons at #6 or if the Bills had Jake Matthews staring at them at #9 and they simply couldn't pass on him with Ebron still on the board. Watkins and Ebron are the only two known game changing receivers in this draft. He is still very much in play for the Bills at #9.
