  1. THIS! If that were to happen the Bills could be in a prime spot to trade out for a 2012 1st round pick! Because the Bengals would almost certainly take Cam Newton. If it were Washington that made this trade, the Bills would almost certainly be very close to have the #1 overall in 2012! Dareus and Miller going 1-2 could actually be the best thing to happen people. As long as there's a team who really wants Newton and is willing to give up next year's #1.
  2. Bradford and Suh were "safe" picks. Gabbert is nothing of the kind. There's tons of stuff online about his not handling either real or perceived defensive pressure well and his propensity of throwing dinky little checkdown passes his whole career. Basically he's Trent Edwards 2.0 with a giant media hype machine up his butt. The only top 5 truly "safe" picks in this draft are Peterson or Green. I know that you don't want to hear that, but it's the truth.
  3. I'm with you. BTW, it's very unfortunate that the Bills probably won't get any calls for a trade down in the first because there are so many dang pass rushers in this 1st round, and Miller's smallish size and playing style scares the pants off me. I've resigned myself that they will pick Miller and there's nothing I can do but hope everyone who likes him is right. There will be so many great options at #34. This Ponder talk has me going crazy. He's at best a backup and there's nothing he can do that Fitzpatrick doesn't already do 10 times better.
  4. Uh oh... "3. Buffalo: Von Miller - LB - Texas A&M With a 90 year old owner and 70 year old GM, the Bills continue the trend of “reaching” in first, this time taking the overrated pass rusher..." That's what I've been saying all along...I still hope we pick Robert Quinn.
  5. I want you to be honest here, give me the name of a past or present QB who's level Ponder will most likely reach in the NFL.
  6. A couple of months ago when the Gabbert media hype machine started in full force, I did a lot of reading up on him and came away with the distinct impression that he's a check down guy who hates throwing it long for whatever reason and who gets skittish under pressure from the defense. I provided link after link and all I got was that I didn't watch his games. Well for all those guys...this guy seems to have watched enough of Gabbert's games that he's basically laughing at the prospect of him being considered a top rated QB. I've never really believed that Gabbert is on the Bills' board. At least I hope that's the case. I wonder if he has a report on Von Miller since this is the guy being linked to us by pretty much everyone.
  7. Want a new comparison? How about Drew Stanton... http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2011/introducing-lewin-career-forecast-v20 "Christian Ponder, Florida State: 413 DYAR Important stats: 33 games started, 61.8% completion rate, senior passer rating dropped 12.0 points. Maybe somebody reaches for him because so many teams have quarterback needs this year, but Ponder just seems to me like a classic third-round pick. How high is his ceiling, really? Isn't he basically just Drew Stanton? I would be scared of how his improvement stagnated in his senior year." You guys should listen to these "folks" because they're not acting like irrational love sick puppy dogs who are head over heals with any and every mid round level QB in the draft...OMG!!! LOOK AT ALL THESE QBs!!!! LET'S BE LIKE THE PANTHERS LAST YEAR AND BLOW A HIGH PICK OR TWO ON ONE OF THEM!!!!
  8. 1. Von Miller OLB 2. Christian Ballard DE 3. Quan Sturdivant ILB For all those thinking Heyward, I think the Patriots take him at #17 or #28. He probably won't be there at #34.
  9. Am I the only person here who thinks that the only potentially franchise QB in this draft is Cam Newton and that his prospects are at best iffy???? I mean, you at least have to have BOTH an NFL arm and pocket presence to even be in the conversation of having your team pick it's future franchise QB with either the #1 or #2 round picks? Well that right there eliminates pretty much everybody not named Cam Newton or Ryan Mallet. Really, I seriously don't understand the people who are throwing out names like Gabbert, Ponder, Dalton or Locker. Now that being said, Mallet does NOT have the three dimensional game that Newton has and which could warrant a team gambling a high pick on a potential franchise QB who has immaturity issues he must overcome. Would I pick Newton? Probably not, but IMO he's the ONLY guy worth talking about in this draft for the Bills! I think I'll throw up if they pick a QB in the 1st or 2nd round not named Cam Newton.
  10. Uh oh, it just occurred to me that Nix and Gailey will officially be on this list if they get cute with their top 4 (top 100) picks... Donahoe/Williams - failed Levy/Jauron - failed Nix/Gailey - on the verge of failure???? Seriously, if these guys screw up this draft with such high picks then it will be yet another crushing failure and blow to this once proud franchise. I.E. what's failure? Either picking Gabbert, or giving away pick #99 to move up into the first and blow a 1st round pick on Ponder.
  11. Sweet, 7 current and former Bills on the top 25 list... 24) Cornell Green, Buffalo Bills Tackle 23) Sammy Morris, New England Patriots 19) Brian Brohm, Buffalo Bills Quarterback 17) Trent Edwards, Jacksonville Jaguars 14) Aaron Maybin, Buffalo Bills Linebacker 12) Willis McGahee, Baltimore Ravens 9) Lee Evans, Buffalo Bills Wide Receiver http://bleacherreport.com/articles/670235-2011-nfl-25-players-on-the-verge-of-utter-failure-in-2011#/articles/670235-2011-nfl-25-players-on-the-verge-of-utter-failure-in-2011/page/13 Other than Evans and Morris, what a bunch of chumps. I think that none of us want to even realize how important this draft is to this franchise considering where they are picking. Please no more chumps, no more surfer dudes, and no more "cool" haircuts.
  12. Russell, Leaf, George ALL had great NFL arms. There's nothing about Ryan Mallett that says he will ever be a leader. Like those three failures mentioned above, he has the brain of a little kid who'll not only be playing in a man's game, but be expected to be the leader of these men. So when things don't go right, he'll eventually implode just like he did at the combine interview. I'll puke if they pick a QB within the first two picks.
  13. I could not agree more. The Bills have 4 of the top 100 picks in this year's draft. These should ALL end up being starting players...OLB, TE, ILB, OT/OG. The Bills should be salivating at the prospect that all of these QBs coming off the board ahead of them will push a 1st round talent to them at pick #34. Kyle Rudolph, Derek Sherrod, Gabe Carimi, Anthony Costanzo, Ryan Kerrigan, Nate Solder, Cameron Heyward...One or more of these players WILL be there at #34!!!!!!! But the Bills are looking to give away their #99 pick (and maybe more) for a guy that will never be as good or as smart of a QB as our current starting 28 year old QB?????????????????????? Newsflash for the Bills front office, the NFL WILL have a 2012 draft where if Fitzpatrick does turn into a pumpkin (Bills will no doubt be picking top 10), you will be allowed to draft one with your first pick. Don't be bigger morons than the Panthers and give away picks to move up into the 1st to grab a mid round talented QB with your second pick just because you're feeling lucky that Ponder or Locker are really franchise QBs in disguise. If they do this, they will prove that they really are a loser Double A organization trying to beat the New York Yankees.
  14. You need to dig just a little bit deeper past the great white hype machine... http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=gabbert+pressure&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq= It's a none too well kept secret that Gabbert has the pocket presence of our last two franchise QBs, Losman and Edwards. The Bill will thankfully pass on him, he'll be drafted by the 49ers who'll eventually find out that it's a very bad thing to have a "franchise" QB with happy feet.
  15. I just went to the Carolina Huddle and in the Patrick Peterson thread I read this quote... "All I know is I want this effing draft to be over." I think that's how we all feel...LOL
  16. Wouldn't we all! I'm very excited to see what Fitzpatrick does this year. I really do think he could be a late blooming franchise QB. I give him about a 50-50 chance of having an above 30 TD pass season.
  17. I read that Fitzgerald wants Kolb and that the Cardinals will draft Peterson in the eventuality that the Eagles will deal with Arizona on a trade involving Peterson and Kolb. That makes a lot of sense.
  18. Yes, it probably is in the case the Panthers don't draft Newton and them not wanting someone to trade up with Denver. Also, in the case they have a QB in mind to take with their 2nd round pick and don't want someone to trade up ahead of them. I don't see them as thinking Fitzpatrick is good enough to let a guy or two they like pass them. If they take Newton, Fitzpatrick is obviously out of here after next year, if they take a rd 2 guy, then they're hedging their bets with Fitzpatrick. If he's great, it's the franchise tag long term contract route and they still have a bargaining chip in potential trades. If he stinks, they already have their guy who they believe can become a franchise QB.
  19. IMO they missed here, I think that the 49ers are the only team in the top 7 with Gabbert at the top of their board. It makes so much sense. They have been pumping up Alex Smith in the press recently (major smokescreen), Harbaugh recruited him, Harbaugh wants to go with his brother's success plan by drafting his QB in the 1st rd of his 1st draft as head coach, Harbaugh and Gabbert have similar personalities. I don't think the Bengals want to pay a top QB money, and Larry Fitzgerald has been pretty vocal about not wanting the Cardinals to go the rookie QB route. You heard it here first, Gabbert will be a Niner.
  20. These are the same things they were saying about Drew Brees. Remember Miami balking at getting Brees? BTW, don't put any stock in the opinions of people who don't watch us. I don't care if they've played in the NFL or not, they did not watch our team last year. You would have been much more on track if you'd said "they may have not missed every down." We obviously differ, but at least we've both watched our team's whole season. I can respect your opinion, not those two guys pretending to have a clue what our team's holes are.
  21. How does running back touches depress completion percentage stats? They don't, and when you have a great RB threat like LaDainian, those touches are likely to increase completion percentage on play action passes. That's probably what San Diego fans were saying. There are plenty of guys who didn't have "it" till later on like Kurt Warner, Rich Gannon, and yes, Drew Brees. Oh please, I saw that. Those two former players no NOTHING about our team. I'll bet you that they didn't even watch us play last season. The fact that they see Blaine Gabbert (btw, they didn't even mention anyone, including Von Miller, in the whole piece) as a "no brainer" pick tells you all you need to know about their "sage" advice for our team. Gabbert was a deer in headlights in college, there's no way we take a QB like Gabbert after what we endured with Edwards and Losman. I was literally laughing at them!
  22. 4% in completion points is not that big of a difference. You should also factor in that Brees had the running threat of LaDainian Tomlinson in combination with the TE Gates. I'm not saying he's as good as Brees, but he's on the same career path. Last year was an awakening for Fitzpatrick and I can't wait to see if he does indeed become a top 10 franchise type QB in 2011.
  23. Going off of GBN's big board, this would be my top four picks right now (since our first 4th rounder is #99)... 1. Robert Quinn (or Von Miller) OLB 2. Kyle Rudolph TE 3. Kendrick Ellis NT 4. Kelvin Sheppard/Mark Herzlich ILB http://www.gbnreport.com/top100.html
  24. That ship has sailed brotha. Fitzpatrick has cemented himself as a starting QB in this league. He's in the last year of his contract. If the Bills do draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round next week, Fitzpatrick's going to one of these teams as a starter in 2012…Miami, Minnesota, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Arizona, Washington, San Francisco, Seattle or Oakland. It amazes me that Bills fans still see him as a backup player, or that he would still see himself as one and agree to stay in Buffalo as a back up! Are you for real? This guy grew into a real NFL starter and leader last season. As you see, the NFL has a whole lot of teams who can only wish they had Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starter. I realize that he still has to prove it in 2011, but I really think he does prove it and become our franchise QB. If they can figure out the defensive front seven quick enough, I think they can even make the playoffs this year.
  25. Prediction: Fitzpatrick will be the Bills' franchise QB by the end of this year. I really do believe that this guy is becoming the next Drew Brees (poor man's yes, but almost as good as) before our very eyes (I was the first one to state as such in the early part of last season). Mark it down people, he's going to have over 30 TDs in 2011 and in a few years he's going to be the QB that brings the Buffalo Bills it's first Superbowl win. Now let's go get us some defense this draft!!!!
