  1. I think Dorenbos stays, but not because of the FG snap. Dorenbos does not ever snap FG snaps, just longsnaps for punts.
  2. Doesn't he take up a roster spot if he's PUP? I hope he makes it back, but if he takes up a roster spot and his prognosis is unclear, I've got to think there's at least a one in three chance they reach an injury settlement and cut him.
  3. Read it again. It was both. To head off future confusion: we have both Kevin Thompson and Kevin Thomas on our team, both of whom may be released.....
  4. I think Esposito will stick through the first round of cuts, unless they're trying to sneak him onto the practice squad. He has been playing center with the second team, and looks like the team's second best center (Preston has been playing RG next to him, and has been at center late in each game after Esposito). My guess is: Kevin Thompson Lawrence Richardson Evan Oglesby plus two of thes guys: 38- Thierrian Fontenot 54- Wendell Hunter LB 50-Ezekiel, Liam FB 44-Goldsberry, Jon OT 61-Jerman, Greg
  5. You think that Lee, Gates and Burns all get cut?? Me too. Did you read an article about him? I know nothing about him except the play I've seen from him in PS, which was enough that I'd love to see how he looks after a year on the practice squad.
  6. I think he'll start into the third quarter, unless things are not going well. I agree, he needs to get more comfortable and work up his confidence. I think this is both why he'll play more than a typical strting QB, but also why they'll yank him if things get ugly (a bad day for JPL or penalties, bad blocking, a surprising Detroit D??, bad luck...etc.) Was it Mularkey hat said he thought it was important the first-stringers get used to coming out of halftime mentally ready to play?
  7. Tory Woodbury didn't play. Does anyone still think he has a chance of making the team? I was very surprised RaShard Lee did not play against the Bears. At first I thought this meant they were pretty sure to cut him. Then I thought of Shaud Williams who also did not get any carries, and yet I'm pretty sure he'll make the team. Maybe the playing time means Gates is on the bubble, though except for Lee's long KR against GB, I think Gates has looked better all preseason.. Joe Burns is not getting any time at RB. Do you think this means he's history? Or does this just mean he's a known quantity...? DE 99-Uyi Osunde didn't play (ST only?) against the Bears. He looked better than Ritzmann in the GB Scrimmage, but I definitely think he's a gonner. So, what do you think?
  8. I don't think Dorenbos ever snaps for PATs or FG's. As hard as it is to beleive, the longsnapper just snaps for punts. I've been very opposed to cutting other players to hold this spot for him in the past, but man is it scary to have inconsistent snaps on punts. Yes, the snap was bad, and the recovery was decent, but not great. The ball was point-down, but was being held diagonally. From the one camera angle provided, it was impossible to tell if it was also leaning back too far. NFL Network edited out Lindell's missed FG. Was it far off? Could someone give me a written replay?
  9. Reactions to your list: Cieslak might squeek past the first cut. We don't have that many healthy TE's, and I don't see much indication that Trafford's getting more serious consideration. Joe Burns will make it past the first cut unless they're releasing him early as a courtesy so he can seek out another team. He does appear to be out of contention for a RB slot, but could maybe sneak in for ST play and as a back-up FB. Rashard Lee - similar to Burns. He is definitely on the bubble, and is one injury from making the team. His 69 yard kickoff return was not enough to offset his 1.7 yard/carry average and bumbled handoff last week. I thought it was telling he barely played against Chicago, but I don't see them cutting him early except as a courtesy. Shane Matthews - no way is he cut tomorrow, and I think he'd only be cut if the Bills went w 2 QBs, he retired and they offered him a job. He has been solid for an emergeny QB, and he's a good fit on the team. Woodbury did not even get a look against Chicago. What does that tell you? Jim Leonhard is in a dogfight with Wire to make the team. His hard-hitting over-achieving, ST play, and the departure of Prioleau mean he has a real shot at making the team. Wire has had several years to blossom, and the coaches might well believe that Leonard has more of an upside if they are performing comparably in preseason. Others I think will get cut first: While DE Uyi Osunde (#99) looked good in the GB scrimmage, and decent against Indi's 3rd team, he looked mediocre against Indi, while Ritzmann looked solid. He did not get any playing time against Chicago that I saw (but was listed in the NFL Gamebook as a substitution). I think he gets cut in the first wave, but would be happy to see him land on the PS. He seemed to have a lot of raw talent. Other possible 1st cutdown victims: LB 50-Ezekiel, Liam FB 44-Goldsberry, Jon OT 61-Jerman, Greg CB 39-Lee, Rob CB 46-Richardson, Lawrence Another interesting player: C 60-Jasen Esposito has quietly been doing a decent job playing center with the second string players, but I've not seen him get any press. He could be cut in an effort to sneak him onto the practice squad, avoiding the scrutiny the final cut players receive.
  10. Okay then, what's a reasonable risk? I'm not betting to make money, but am willing to lay some on the line to make it more interesting.... How about this: the loser makes a $50 donation to Hunter's Hope in the winner's name?
  11. So, wanna bet? 7-9 or worse you win; 8-8 or better I win?
  12. I think they could well get 12-14 sacks (Schobel 8-10, Kelsay 4-6). We will likely have quite a few team sacks, but the zone blitz will mean that a number of players have 1-2 sacks.
  13. I know this was directed as Simon, but I watched the GB scrimmage and the Indi games closely (GB game less-so), and have a strong opinion. Jerman looked horrible out there, really out of his league - - not even PS material IMO.
  14. Kelsay seems to struggle a bit when he has accountability for containment. He goes straight upfield a bit and stops, then doesn't have momentum to continue to the QB. When the Bills blitz, Posey usually blitzes outside him and takes this role whike he effectively pushes toward the pocket. I think this is one reason he looked so much better in the GB scrimmage and the Indi game. Schobel has looked great, a cut above the other players on the field. I thought we over-extended by giving him that contract, but as he's playing now, he looks like he's worth every penny. Posey is definitely a finesse player. I'm not sure I've ever seen him really bowl anyone over, except when he arrived at the QB unblocked. Posey does seem to make very good reads, however, and is a central player in the zone blitz. Here's more info on what I saw regarding Posey and the zone blitz. I don't think Stamer is close to replacing Posey on these plays, and the team is playing Denney in his place with the 2nd team. Ritzmann's sacks agains GB were certainly gimme's. But, I agreee, he got to the QB enough, that he shows promise as a pass-rusher, but still seems out of place on running plays. Reed had a solid game, after being completely absence against Indi, where he should have been jockeying for the 3rd WR spot after Parrish went out. I also think the ball was tipped on a great defensive play in the endzone, so I don't read too much into that one play. I think if he has one more PS game like that he wil land a spot on the final roster (and if he becomes invisible agin, he's gone). I think the over/under for games decided by ST's is at about 2.5 going into the year. While they might have a few TDs, the more important influence on the year-end win total will be the field position advantage, including the great kick coverage, which is likely to get the least attention.
  15. Ron seems to be filling Pat's old role. While Sam seems to have clearance to rush in and cause havoc, Ron is staying put, plugging the middle, but does not look as stout as PW looked at the POA. As another poster mentioned, he seems to get twisted up a bit, taking away his power. I'm very impressed that he looks anything other than completely outmatched at this point in his development. I'm quite impressed, and hope we keep him on our roster so we don't lose him. Not to steal Kelly tFBD's line, but do you know of any other personnel packages the Bills use/used? I'm trying to train my eye a bit more and would like some things to look for. I agree, TA seems to be in a bit over his head still, but seems to be making progress. I agree that boht Denney and Bannan looked good, definitely a notch above 2nd stringers. Anderson looked great against GB in the scrimmage (I was very surprised), but this did appear to be a step backwards for him. While I like what I've read about Preston, he has looked just only okay at RG with the second-stringers. I think he'd be grossly outmatched playing with the first team. While many people have suggested DP replacing Teague at center in different scenarios, it is actually #60 - Esposito that has played the center with the second string. Preston has taken rep's with the 3rd string each game, and hasn't looked as good. Esposito has PS written all over him. Agreed. Teague has earned some mention from TSW regulars, but usually: "hey your info's out of date, he doesn't look that bad anymore." Actually, he is now clearly one of our strongest points on the O-line. Kudos, Trey! I'm also surprised that TSW critics haven't jumped on Mike Williams more. In my opinion, Gandy has played better so far this preseason. I'm not too worried, as I'm hopeful MW is still getting into game shape (I do see improvement each week). In general, I've been very impressed with Evans' willingness to block downfield, but I doubt he'll ever be as good at it as Reed, who is much more physical. Did you see Evans whiff out there? Here, here. Shelton looked great and is an important part of this team. Yet I doubt fans of other teams, and some Bills fans, even know his name. Lee did look quite good in this game... but where has he been? These were the only flashes I've seen from him, and I still think he and Burns are on verge of not making the team. These are big preseason games coming up for his career!
  16. I think a savvy journalist should wait until he proves himself during the regular season, then write a "today most football fans can't pronounce his name; soon he will be a household name" article.
  17. I'm excited by Peters' progress too, and agree getting a "free" starting-caliber LT is a fantastic find. I will say, though, it's premature to start talking about Peters being dominant. Pushing Gandy to feel some pressure, is a long ways from being Jennings, and still a ways further from being dominant (not that Jennings wasn't solid LT). For both these guys I'm convinced that our scouts found guys with good "raw material, and suspect playing technique. Some time with McNally is developing them quickly. From what I've seen so far, I'd say Gandy is playing about as well as MW.
  18. It's scheduled to be replayed at 3AM. But, so you go into this fully informed: if the game runs over 3 hours (minus halftime) they'll edit it to fit into 3 hours. Also, if TO makes a statement between 3AM and 6AM, they'll likely cut to a Live news conference and you'll have to catch the full game the next time it airs....
  19. I agree with you FFS, and I think this makes 9/11 a less likely date for an attack. Al Q's MO has been to observe and plan for extended time, then act, once they are sure of the logistics. Because our security and behavior will likely be different on 9/11, I don't think it is a logical target, since 9/11 "patterns" cannot have been observed at length, and are not at this point predictable.
  20. Hey, I haven't joined you guys in the Pick 'em before (sounds fun), but I have a suggestion for this issue. You should consider having the auto-picks always choose the home team. This way people aren't knocked out of the running for the year if something comes up, but they still will likely get punished for not getting their selections in.
  21. I don't think there was ever even a hint that Matthews would be more than a mentor and an emergency QB. I do think there's a strong argument for keeping Woodbury (assuming he continutes to shine), and trying to retain Matthews in an assistant coach capacity. I did just hear ini the last couple days (forget where) that AVP is currently doing that for the Bills, so maybe that position is already full. The other thing we'd have to consider is whether Woodbury and Losman get along and communicate well. Even if Woodbury has "more of an upside," we should not retain him if he distracts/annoys/attracts?/confuses Losman.
  22. I would wait to leave feedback - - there's no rush. Maybe the tickets will still show up today with an early postmark, in which case leave positive feedback with comments relecting the real heartburn "Tickets got delayed in mail, but seller good with communication" or similar. I f the tickets do not show up at all and you do not hear from the seller ("apparently postage is now over 32 cents!"), I'd leave either neutral or negative feedback... probably neutral unless you think there was intentional problems or gross negligence (postage example would probably qualify, actually).
  23. I don't usually post to say a topic isn't working for me, and it usually bothers me when other do that, but... WTF is this? Here's what I found (top link at Google): http://www.partium.com/~andrewb/blancmange/ Those look like avatar opportunities....
  24. http://www.yourdictionary.com/ahd/l/l0300300.html n. pl. lux·u·ries 1. Something inessential but conducive to pleasure and comfort. 2. Something expensive or hard to obtain. 3. Sumptuous living or surroundings: lives in luxury. In sense 1, TiVo is certainly a luxury. In sense 2. it certainly is not, and yes, TiVo does give me that sumptuous feeling. Breaking news happens. I didn't see it (TiVo'ed first showing on NFL network), but I'd say that cutting away for non-news (what happened today at Jags training camp) is BS. If it was TO making live comments then it seems like a reasonable choice, however. Not for most Bills fans, but for the broader NFL network audience.
