  1. Any group of people born into a particular minority status, sure. Last time I checked there weren't any born adulterers, though. Of course, if all a$$holes got together to form a group seeking equal rights, we might find they are in the majority By the way, nice job calling someone out on defending someone else's question when you have yet to answer mine.
  2. If you think that anywhere near a majority of gays appreciate this, you are off your rocker. Next to nobody thinks this is right.
  3. I hope you're not trying to be sarcastic (and if you aren't, please accept my apologies). Interracial couples throughout history Loving Decision, Supreme Court 1967 In any case, I'm not "lumping" these in. These are good examples of morals in our society changing, to challenge Arondale -- that was my only point.
  4. People in this country used to: - morally rationalize owning slaves - morally rationalize the wrongness of interracial coupling and marriage - morally rationalize that women had no right to participate in our democracy They don't anymore. Society thinks differently now. I'm sure you would not have drawn the line at any of these. The Bible was written by men, translated to your language by men, books were selected and rejected for inclusion in it by men, and you as a person are interpreting it the way you wish. Prove to me there is no subjectivity going on in this process and I will agree with you that morals are ironclad and unchanging.
  5. Other dude to Rob: "Dude, you totally CAN-NOT ride that gnarly wave. And is that headband from, like, 1989? You look like a Bugle Boy ad!" Maybe Rob should invest in Ron Jon surf shop. Makes sense to me
  6. What are they (honestly)? I have only read good things about him and it seems to me like he's doing good work. Any links?
  7. I don't think J.A.'s question mentioned anything about Democrats or Republicans. You're evading it by employing the "Democrats do it, too, tactic." The point you are making is hypocritical. You can't claim that government is too intrusive into personal life and then push for legislation that encourages more of the same.
  8. In all honesty I wish we had been able to bring Kordell in instead of Matthews. Might have been worth it. He could certainly have been a caretaker and knew Mularkey's offense.
  9. Actually Derrick Blaylock has been filling in quite capably (180 yards/game in two feature outings). If they can run the ball on the Pats they might be able to pull it off.
  10. Not really a fan of Schumer. I'd much prefer Spitzer as gov. The question is what's up with Pataki? He pretty much looked (and sounded) like an idiot at the RNC. Doesn't seem like he has much more of a future than a potential cabinet position.
  11. It's kind of like "All the President's Men," except for there is no cover-up (everything being done is transparent), no reporting on these issues (yawn, Survivor's on, *click*), no consequences and hence no public outrage. Anyone who's a real conservative should be screaming for Tom Delay's resignation. The guy is a cancer.
  12. I don't think Drew sucks, he is a great person and I wish him well. I could even see him being a good backup for us and a great tutor for JP if he wanted to be (and would reduce his cap #). However, keeping him as the starter only delays the inevitable and does stunt the growth of a new, young nucleus for next year. To say the future does not lie with Drew does not mean he should be run out of town. He brought some excitement for a little while and he ran on adrenaline for the first half of '02; he has just faded after a horrifying injury and has a big complex on the road.
  13. Honestly this one didn't bother me. This is kind of like that time when you got old enough to admit to your dad that MC Hammer really did suck.
  14. Maybe they'd be a little too drained to come out and play their A-Game, though sorry, tasteless.
  15. Dillon did kill us. But the score was what mattered. It was 3-0 after that first quarter. 6-0 into the second. The defense was keeping us in it. If the O could have kept them off the field for more than 30 seconds they might have had the wherewithal to stop Dillon. Also, if the offense had scored the defense might have thrown a parade that would have stopped the game and given us time to regroup and game-plan, since a week wasn't enough. Let me spell it out: the offense was held to ZERO points. They couldn't even get the 2 point conversion with two attempts. You don't need me to tell you that when Johathan "Farking" Smith is your highlight reel you are in big trouble.
  16. I know plenty of people who would argue with you that as marriage is a right that those who are not gay enjoy, it does place gay relationships on a lower-tier status. Regardless, a majority in our country feel that committed same-sex relationships should be recognized by either civil unions or marriage. I am saying marriage should be left up to the church and all couples should have access to a civil union. Referring back to the original topic of this thread, church vs. state -- if the objection to same-sex marriage is grounded in one's church, it should remain in that church. Churches can decide for themselves what will be recognized as a marriage and gays can find churches that will accept their unions as marriage, such as Unitarian congregations. Plenty of people are married with no justification of marriage as sacred in a religious sense, in secular ceremonies. What makes the union sacred is the commitment the two people have made to one another. And what is sacred has nothing to do with government these days, if it ever did.
  17. Whoah, whoah, whoah, you made it into the third quarter?
  18. Well, the defense came up large the first few drives but you can only be run down the field so many times before it comes back to haunt you. They looked tired early. NE just controlled the ball. We didn't. Those offensive three-and-outs are torturous on the defense. RE: Drew I have always given him the benefit of the doubt and it hurts because he has his good games. But they are good games, usually against bad or unprepared teams, and nothing more. He is not a player to be counted on when times are tough. A few dropped passes, missed opportunities and he is rattled. No coming back. Put in JP. I would rather watch him face the hard learning curve in this lost season than ruin the next one.
  19. You are exactly right. My point was the Bills only made it more likely that this will continue. I think the Bills deserved to get reamed for their performance. I just wish commentators would find something new to do besides wet their pants over the Patriots.
  20. Drew's 3rd INT had me turning the game off, but I was on the edge most of the game with ESPN's commentary. I suppose the Bills could have done the favor of showing up so there was another team to talk about, but Kolber, Patrick, Theismann and McGuire were so far down Brady's pants that I just couldn't take it anymore. Every completed pass was an excuse to talk about Brady's greatness. It was sickening. About the only thing more phony than Brady's "interview" were the laughable CGI backdrops behind Theismann et. al (in front of the Boston skyline one moment, and the stadium behind them 5 minutes later). I get it. I know Brady's great. I know Belicheck is a genius because he plays guys at different positions. Talk about something else. I was expecting interesting commentary from a nationally-televised game. Guess I haven't watched enough Sunday night games to remember these guys are idiots who can barely be bothered to stop drooling on themselves, much less say anything intelligent. ARRGH.
  21. That's exactly it Thanks for pinpointing exactly what is going on in my mind. I'm feeling real great about myself, real proud. Thanks for pointing out how !@#$ing amazing I feel because I am championing this unworthy cause. It would just be the worst thing ever to treat people like people, wouldn't it?
  22. You're pretty obsessed with the act for someone who finds it so deplorable.
  23. Go back and read the quote: No excuse. I am saying the grounds for the situation would not be as likely to exist if sexually confused people did not feel that celibacy and the clergy was the only way they could live a good life. The grounds are societal AND personal to the people who committed these awful acts.
  24. Of course, since sodomy is your language, not theirs. How liberating. How much of a problem do you have with lesbians? Or lesbian twins? Coors light, owned by almost-Senator-of-virtue Pete Coors, seems to like it. No sodomy there.
