How would the Bills of been if we drafted Dillon?
RuntheDamnBall replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What if we hadn't drafted JD Williams? We would have won 4 Super Bowls. I guarantee it. -
...made by a great competitor. I can't watch anymore. I hate these assclowns. Hopefully Pittsburgh destroys them next week.

Yup. God, I hate Brady. I just want him to tank terribly in this game and end the talk for awhile. The only thing worse than commentators going ga-ga over Brady is when they talk about how they aren't talking about him enough (!) and then do another piece about the big phony. Go Colts!

Maybe this was one of Maurice Clarett's papers. -
(OT) Braves close to signing

Ugh. I still have trouble forgiving the Blue Jays for trading Shawn Green for him, THEN paying the Yankees to take on half his salary. That guy is the underachiever of the decade. -
No chick is worth watching those pompous !@#$s prance all over the stage in ripped up Union Jack shirts.

It's a solid record, but I will say this, and I think Adam Duritz would agree, that without the two big R.E.M. records at the beginning of the 90s (Out of Time and Automatic for the People), August... either wouldn't have been released, or if it had, it would hardly have made the same impact.

Can you honestly say, even though that album is great, that the change was for the better? I mean, come on, we also got Def Leppard, Winger, and Guitar Magazines out of that deal. I'd say it's a draw at best.

Good one. Pink Moon's still my favorite. But Five Leaves Left is awesome.

He's been reelin' in the years.

No, missed it. But NorthSix generally has good shows, though. I've seen Richard Buckner, Dismemberment Plan and Les Savy Fav there. For Built to Spill, check out "There's Nothing Wrong With Love" or "Perfect From Now On." Both excellent. It's been downhill from there.

How do you know that? Most teachers I know spend hours at home lesson-planning every night after school and for most of August, and are working on mandatory master's degrees in the summer. Some teach summer school. And not to belittle any other job, but if you have kids you know how critical this profession is and how bad the results can be if it isn't done right. -
Pinback is pretty good. For that sound I guess I prefer Modest Mouse and Built To Spill's second and third records. Haven't heard the new one though. Portishead was fantastic. I also forgot to add: Brian Eno: Here Come The Warm Jets -- blueprints for indie rock at least 5 years in advance.

OT - Home recording software
RuntheDamnBall replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allow me. This is what I do. Pro Tools with the MBox is pretty powerful for the average consumer, and the learning curve is not too steep at all. Once you get yourself rocking with the keyboard shortcuts, you can do some damage. And editing is pretty easy. You can usually find the MBox with software for around $400. And the MBox, since it has mic preamps, will be handier to have than just your Guitar port, so you can actually record a guitar amp if you like. In addition, Reason is integrated into MBox with ReWire so you can use the sequences you create in Reason in a Pro Tools session. If you'd like further information, PM me. I've used Cubase, Cakewalk, Samplitude, Nuendo, some of the others. But Pro Tools is industry standard, and should you get the funding to go to a studio, your session would almost certainly be portable to that studio (ie you can bring your work from home into a pro studio just by bringing in your hard drive). Good luck! -
Plus, the ITunes software is actually usable and their downloads from the music store are not too shabby, though you can still hear some of the conversion artifacts in some songs. (I like the idea since I still make somewhat of a living through the music industry.) I think it's a great idea, though I personally would wait for the emergence of higher-capacity flash.

The Clash, R.E.M. "Murmur" and Mission of Burma's "Signals, Calls & Marches" are mine. Goes to show you, though, how many bands get better as they go on. Most of my favorite albums are not debuts.

That's their second album. "Bleach" was their first.

these are the six things I watch on TV besides sports: Daily Show NYPD Blue NOW with Bill Moyers Nature Simpsons (going downhill, but good while it lasted) 24 (new addition)

I will begrudgingly admit already that they are one of the best. But god, they are a bunch of a--holes.

ummm.... They didn't.

Ross Tucker on JP Losman

Depends on what their salary is. If they start at $25 grand, then they might as well save themselves the stress and go work at Wegman's. I agree about old teachers hanging on. There are plenty of them. I think tenure certainly needs to be revised and reconsidered, but the ideal behind it, which is making sure that teachers are not subject to the whim of administration and can teach in such a way so as to challenge students, is worth retaining. I'm glad your wife is a teacher, and I'm sure she does her best for her kids. But we've got to stop treating teachers and students like they are the enemy. After all, making education better is to make lives better for all, is it not? edit: and in re: to my statement earlier about Math and Science teachers, I think one problem with unions is that because they fight for the same cause for every worker, adequate compensation for those in the sciences cannot be given. While I am skeptical about making value judgements with regard to subject, I think teachers for these topics should be given far more money, because they can make far more in the private sector. What better way to get brilliant minds to motivate our kids to join these critical fields? -

Oh come on. I know what Tucker means. Just with regard to blitzes, I am not sure that Drew's having more experience with them means that he knows what to do when they come. Not a hater, just a guy who believed in Drew for too long, and loves the Bills too much to watch a quarterback who is a nice guy, but whom I have no confidence in anymore. If they decide to go with Drew again, I'll root for him. God, I desperately want him to do well. I just don't think he has it in him. I wanted, and still want, to be proven wrong. -

You obviously have no idea what kind of stress teachers are put under. Here in the city they have to practically raise some of these kids. If you put all the control of personnel in the hands of administrators (who are often worse than any of the teachers) and eliminate any of the security or real benefits of the teaching field, you are just going to find that many good teachers say "forget it" to the educational field, and go to the private sector, where they can get paid far better and probably be more appreciated (you are seeing this already in the vital science and math fields). Many good ones would also stay, but one could not be blamed for feeling the walls closing in on all sides and just giving up. I can't see kids or teachers handling school all year round. And I also can't imagine that someone who complains about how much money is "thrown" at education would understand the financial commitment of an extra two-three months in the school year.
