What song rocks u the hardest?
RuntheDamnBall replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Never seen a thread where the original poster was so dead on. "Sugarcube" is bar none Yo La Tengo's best song. I would take "Schizophrenia" over "SugarKane" though. -

M. Ward is one of the best and brightest new musicians going right now. Think John Fahey, Tom Waits and beyond. Lots of other good acts on there. Really like Iron & Wine, Toots and Modest Mouse. Might stay away from all the hippies, though. I prefer people who bathe. -
Where will Travis Suit Up in '05?

TD has traded in the draft with the Bucs before, no? (thought it was the year we drafted Clements). I think they have different folks in the front office now, though. -
Jets Interviews on "Point After Tuesday"

I guess my point is it doesn't make me feel better to rag on the Jets or Jets' fans about it -- not till we have a big-game kicker, that is. -

Who knows if the Bills wouldn't have been in the same exact situation if they had made the playoffs? Definitely within the realm of possibility, assuming they would have been dumb enough to give Lindell the ball with the game on the line. Time to draft the Nuge. -
I thought that was the best line, in the way that it's entirely serious in this vortex of absurdity.

Giants concessions liable in $60M suit

Nope, both suck hard. Your problem is that you think they have grounds to charge that much for a beverage and cup that probably costs them pennies to produce. -

You think beers are that expensive because of lawsuits and not because they have exclusive license to sell them for whatever they like? I suppose someone choked on a hotdog once and jacked them up to $5.50 too. The driver is responsible here, but let's get this straight. This lawsuit isn't exactly hurting Mom and Pop, here. It's hurting a ruthless company that is going to do exactly as you say and pass the cost on to the consumer. -

My solution would be to only serve dark beer (mmmm) like Guinness at the games. Any idiot who pounds those wouldn't be able to make it to his car. -

Thoughts on WR and fat Pat
RuntheDamnBall replied to RuntheDamnBall's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For a fourth-round pick at #3 WR? Why not? Instead of Reed or Aiken? I'd take him. I don't think he'll go that cheaply though. -
Dylan- Live 75 Rolling Thunder Revue is pretty damned good, and Neil Young has a few good ones as well (Live Rust comes to mind). Agree with some other mentions around here, too.
-
Lenny P says Rod Gardner (WR / Redskins) might be available for a fourth-rounder. Might not be a bad investment. Also, Vikes are considering moving to a 3-4 and need a big NT. Increases my worries that we'll lose Pat Williams (Cottrell connection, a team needs to fill a void). Who knows.

Depends on what you're looking for. Arguably, "The Station Agent" and "Kitchen Stories" had no plot, aside from the initial turns of events, but both were beautiful films. I liked "Tenenbaums," but I just like Anderson's quirk. Sometimes I hate quirk, but his films have the kind I like. -

Finally got to seeing "Life Aquatic" this weekend. Like the other Wes Anderson films (Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums, Bottle Rocket), this one is a little shorter on plot than it is on pure enjoyment, good lines and excellent moments, not to mention creative filmmaking and a great soundtrack. I really enjoyed it. Don't want to give away too much, but Murray is once again amazing (and the rest of the cast is great as well, Cate Blanchett & Willem Dafoe especially). It's a shame the awards circuit is shafting him again. -
To all who inquired, I was relieved to finally hear from my friends in Chennai after three weeks of trying to reach them. They are all OK thanks to a breakwall that was constructed last year, thank God. They said the damage to the city was pretty intense, but relief efforts are evident and moving forward. My wife and I will hopefully be seeing them next year. It will be interesting to see how much has changed due both to the damage and the reconstruction. Thanks to all who kept them, and others like them, in their thoughts. It has been truly amazing to witness the humanitarian response and see how good people can be to each other in times of need. For all the terrible things we read about, and for all of our differences, it is good to see how much this has brought people together. Thanks again. Cheers, J.

Cant wait for Vick, Roth, or McNabb to show
RuntheDamnBall replied to JP-era's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Never said Brady sucks. I have said, on several occasions, that I despise him. I have my reasons. And the rest of his team also won 2 Super Bowls. But I suppose they (and the coaches) had nothing to do with it. It was all Brady, all the time. Drew vs. JP is a relevant position here. I have never said they will do oh-so much better with JP. I certainly believe he should be given a shot, and that Drew has made it much harder for a lot of people to blindly accept him like they did in the past. This is my last post on Drew vs. JP. Thanks for telling me to shut up, jerkface. -

He's like Jeter in that he's a gritty, smart player who is good, and can be great, when surrounded by solid role players in a well-coached system. But what did Brady do today that absolutely wowed you? He runs an efficient, mistake-free game, not much less, not much more. If the Bills had a QB who did that, they'd be sitting pretty. Unfortunately the salary cap and the ways of the NFL make it a lot harder for a team to suffer from largesse the way the Yanks do. And the Pats don't have an owner whose wallet is bigger than his brain -- or at least the salary cap shackles make it harder for him to operate that way. -
See Dillon's yards per carry? How many yards did Faulk have? How many three-and-outs did they hold NE to? How about turnovers? A good defense gets off the field and gives the ball to the offense. Indy just didn't do that today.

My tribute to the patriots....

My tribute to the Patriots involves mooning. -
Even though their defense can't stop the run for sh--. Give me a break. If they re-tool their defense, the Colts can definitely compete for a Super Bowl. Sorgi over Manning? This is the dumbest post yet.

I hope someday the Bills are as successful, AND in the good graces of the officials as much as the Patriots are. Then we'll really be something special. Who knows, Losman might end up being the next Tom Brady. Where the hell is the "puking" smilie? We need it -- now.
