Sen Specter Comes Out Of The Closet
John Adams replied to IDBillzFan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
He supports embryonic stem cell research. He's not a strict anti-abortionist. Voted against Constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. Etc. He votes with the Rep. party 2/3 of the time, which is not that much for a party member. -
Sen Specter Comes Out Of The Closet

I heard him interviewed just recently and he concedes that he sometimes has to trade one position that he disagrees with to get support for an issue that he perceives as more important. That's how you move the machine. So I am sure he will horse-trade with the Democrats just like he used to with the Republicans. -

Expect a swing in the opposite direction again soon. The filibuster-proof Senate will probably fall in 2010. The WH will probably get turned over in 2016. The Supreme Court won't change for a while. -
Sen Specter Comes Out Of The Closet

I don't support any candidate based on their party. I support candidates. I was considering giving money to him already and still may. The switch means nothing to me. I do NOT agree with everything that Lieberman and Specter stand for but I like that in the past, they've been willing to stand up to their party machines and I wish there were more people capable of doing so. (McCain and Guiliani also come to mind as people who are willing to occasionally swim upstream, although McCain's choice of Palin was a massive sellout.) -

And here I'm thinking the opposite. I wish more of these asshats would rebuff their parties once they got elected. They (unfortunately) need the party machinery to get elected--and they shouldn't lie about their positions (Specter certainly never did)--but I wish all these guys would give the finger to the party. Specter only did this because he's set up to lose the Republican primary. He always has a hard time winning the primary and an easy time in the general because he's a powerful moderate. -
So your principle-based argument is one that relies on statistics? Stupid, you are indeed a master of logic. And hypocrisy. Stupid, almost everyone here arguing for homosexual marriage is actually arguing solely on principle. The principles at stake are free choice, morality, and respect. Adults are free to choose who they want to love and spend their lives with. It violates someone's freedom when Stupid limits the way in which they can express their love. It is right and natural for reasoning humans to love. It is unnatural for Stupid to define arbitrary limits on love. It is respectful to allow adults to love how they wish. It is disrespectful for Stupid to intercede in that love. When people note the homosexual (or urge-based) actions of animals, it is retaliatory to the argument that only that which is natural is OK. You are right Stupid: Humans reason. And that is why they can love who they want. And that is why it is wrong for Stupid to insert himself into that relationship. I have no idea or care whether sexuality-choice is natural or social. I know of instances of both, as I'm sure most people do. Who cares why adults love the way they do?

That's what's happening in countries without potable water and 3rd world medicine. In the US and other countries, it's mild. Remember, in an average year, 250-500K people die of flu every year (30-40K Americans).

John Adams replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan 2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In the 5th round? He'll be a ST starter. -

He played OLB at OU I think--not Safety. Should probably change his position notes. A special teams guy. -
Got it. Hard to believe that the ESPN draft tracker is wrong but it is.

Questions For Those Who Have Seen
John Adams replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not suggesting they will play it for extended periods but I can see in a passing situation, lining up Stroud as NT for a down and having Maybin as OLB--threatening to blitz or drop back. With his speed, lining up like that would have the other line and QB paying a lot of attention to him. Just suggesting that a pass-rushing specialist who can blaze forward from a standing position gives the Bills options that they didn't have before. -
Thanks--that shows as a Philly pick on ESPN. I thought the Bills gave that pick up to get Levitre but it looks like they gave the first 4th rounder for him. I stand by my position: pick whoever you think is good. TE is a luxury and none of them this late will be very good.

Questions For Those Who Have Seen
John Adams replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't answer you directly Bill but my PSU pals all say that what makes Maybin special besides that first step is that he keeps coming. There were times last year where he was handled at the point of attack but he's so fast that even the best lineman can't keep him off forever, and he only needs about 2 seconds to cover 10 yards. Also, look at that athleticism and drool. He needs to put on more weight and since he's only 21, I have no reason to think he won't. Imagine him as 6-5 and 260 in 2 years. That is the future. I see that as less of a "project" because he has the tools and more of getting him into a more aggressive program than he's even in now. This season, at his weight, I see him as a pass-rush specialist. Maybe that disappoints some but I got so sick of seeing QBs with 7 seconds to pass on 3rd and 19 last year that I'll take a specialist. A healthy Schobel and Maybin would be tough to account for. Also, you could see the Bills switch to 3-4 on occasion just to give a QB a different look. -
The Bills do not have a 4th round pick.
-
If the Bills had the luxury of 2 pro bowlers at one position, I would not pick that position. As far as I'm concerned, the Bills barely have any inked-in starters so yes, I'd take the best available player: RB, QB, LB, TE, whatever. Maybe the only position they don't need is DB. I would love a great TE but am not convinced that any TE this late will make a difference whatsoever unless he's a special teams player.
-
No. TEs rarely convert into good players in the NFL. College TEs are either too slow to be good receivers or too weak to bock. Look around the NFL. There are barely any name TEs.
-
Most teams have sh-- at TE. We're just another one. Any pick today at TE is not going to be that good. Pick the best player available.

Count calories. Burn more than you intake. You will lose weight. The hardest part is counting and if you have an iPhone, Lose it is a free app that counts for you. Other websites do the same thing. If that's too much work, (1) always leave the table hungry (2) workout for an hour (at least) 6 days a week There are lots more things to do but if you want the shortest and most basic plan, that's it. Everyone knows it. Everyone knows how to do it. Few people do.
-
This late in the draft, you pick the best player. A 5th round TE is not going to have any impact unless he's a special teams player.
-
A good TE is a luxury. A good line is a necessity. Almost no team in the NFL has even a decent TE. And here's a newsflash: Having 6 good players for 5 spots on the OL is 4 more good players for the OL than the Bills have had for about a decade.
