Tell that to Monica Seles. If he sues, he will lose and it won't be close. A Philly jury will laugh harder than the fans in the stadium. BTW, the kid's own parents are saying he was an idiot for doing it. If you run on the field, you're lucky to only get tasered. In the future, they should Rodney Harrison trespassers.

I've OFTEN parked my car on the street in North Philly (which is not desireable by any stretch) and never had a problem. During the day and at night. You have no clue regarding South Philly but you already know that. And Manyunk is Philly only in zip code, and to my taste, not that great a place.

Ten days now, since the off-shore rig fire

For a second, I thought you were a different poster, getting ready to warn about the coming apocalypse. (And really, what is it with you and the tornado obsession? Did your mom read Oz to you too many times as a kid?) -
Illegal immigrants living in AZ

He's been a good troll but at this point, I'd say he's fully exposed. -
Exactly why were they looking for a "white" male?

Sister Sleaze should have kicked her out of the studio. -
You are way off base. South Philly is a great place. Good restaurants, friendly people. Lots of neighbors who care about each other. South Philly is about the most Buffalo-like place you can find on the planet (in terms of people) without being in Buffalo.

If you've ever been to Princeton, just about any part of the Jersey Shore (not AC), the pine barrens, or all of the farmland, you wouldn't say that. It's like judging NYS based on NYC (both of which I love). Jersey has its armpit but mostly it's great. No I don't live there. And though they get a bad rap because people aren't used to jug-handles and roundabouts, Jersey (again, not the Newark/Trenton areas) has BY FAR the best roads I've ever driven on in America. The jug-handles and roundabouts make the roads safe and fast-moving. Joe--been going to the Shore for 15 years and never seen a needle. It's a bit nuts to say the DE beaches are better when they are a stone throw from all the great S.Jersey beaches.

I went back to pull a bunch of Mel Kiper draft grades and point out all the times he was wrong...because I have irrational hate for him. Going back to 2003 (you can Google them all easily), I'd have to say that although he's had some misses, he's more often right in his draft grades. The only good draft of those 7 is 2009. The rest were ****. Some funny stuff below regarding his Bills grades.

Philly is great (it lacks what Macungie offers) and so is most of Jersey. North Jersey is a bit rough and Trenton is no treat. The Jersey shore is beautiful and much of central and South Jersey is farmland and also very nice.

Exactly why were they looking for a "white" male?
John Adams replied to 1billsfan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Oh please. That was directed at the particular audience member, not the world at large. WBF's sense of persecution is a bit overblown don't you think? The White Christian male at last check is doing pretty well no? -

Do you think this story has legs?
John Adams replied to whateverdude's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Looks like the wrong verb tense there. If true, it's from 2004. -
Oh great, you're another WBF, tying all your posts to one topic. Aren't we lucky?

I am responding to your whole crazy post...not just the above part. There are some big differences that help explain why the Latino population hasn't assimilated like so many others. Many come by land (or short boat rides) and thus CAN and DO get here easily and illegally. The European and Asian immigrants didn't have that option and when you're making a transoceanic voyage, you will have a harder time illegally entering. Also, if you get deported, it's hard to get back again. So the transoceanic people have more invested in arriving and legally entering...it's easier for the Latinos to live this shadow life as illegals. The pre-1970 groups that came transoceanically left with the belief that they could well be on a one way trip, never seeing their relatives again. A trans-ocean phone call was nearly unheard of for regular people and no one dreamed of flying home. That brought a different level of commitment to the trip. The people who came to the US wanted to be here and stay and were extremely focused on getting themselves assimilated because there was no backup plan. Someone who comes from Mexico need only walk back across the border to see their relatives and previous life. Or they can call on cell phones 20x a day or email or video call...etc. For the WBF types, I believe people here are quick to dismiss the Hispanics as not absorbing English but I don't think that's the case either. Once Latino children go to US schools, they learn English (because they want to) and retain their Latino heritage and tradition. BFD. Like so many 1G immigrants, the people who arrived here know little English biut their children learn it.

That's a cute historical rewrite. Lots of people off the boat never learned English. I knew plenty of houses in Rochester and Buffalo that had a grandmother or grandfather that hadn't made it past some simple nouns and verbs. There are certainly differences between that group and the ones that are the focus of this law but try to keep the inane frothing to am minimum.

Bernake advises that the US cut the deficit
John Adams replied to John Adams's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I was working for a huge company with lots of government projects. We did this all the time. And all the projects were cost-plus, which means that our costs were covered no matter how poorly we estimated and if we went overbudget, the government would scold us but in the end we'd still make tons of money. The way it all worked on the government jobs side (mostly Navy LANTDIV for me) was completely opposite of the way things worked on the commercial jobs side, where of course, going overbudget was a catastrophe. -

It was 15 years ago. I don't even remember what we came up with. Some bull **** 1.5M terraforming probably.
