  1. Cool. Were those quotes from an ex president as Putin attacked cities? Churchill complimented Hitler once. In 1935.
  2. A semi-decent thread now gone to the top shitposters. Oh well. A Big Blitz - Billstime 69 was inevitable.
  3. Why are you posting opinions of every Twitter idiot you can find? Please try to at least share real sources if you’re going to spit out Twitter pastes. You and B-Man are inverse clones of each other. You’re in second in the shirt poster contest but it’s a tighter race than it needs to be.
  4. We’re on day 4. There’s a 30-40 mile long convoy making its way to Kyiv by many accounts. Russia has it seems complete air superiority. Way early to say this is a pathetic operation. Just feel lucky that Putin is showing restraint in his urban attacks so far. Before you show the sites that have been hit so far, know that it could be a lot worse and may get a lot worse. Buying into the “The Ukraine is kicking ass” narrative is likely fools gold. I hope that I’m wrong but I suspect I’m not. Whether the Russians have the stomach for the Guerilla war that will come with occupation remains to be seen.
  5. That's cute. Your opinion though comes with consequences no? You think Ukraine should have provoked Russia even more? Very few people have suggested that was the prudent road. Because ya know, WW3 and all.
  6. The alternative was war with a nuclear power. A ***** choice. If you think the US should be independent from OPEC, Russia, and China, I can agree with the former two but good luck on the later. It doesn't even begin to be realistic. The world is complicated. Germany certainly would have done better to keep their nuclear reactors up but that wouldn't have kept them from sucking on Russia's petroleum tit.
  7. Russia is just getting started in this war. We’re on day 4.
  8. Ok sure. Trudeau is an idiot and an embarrassment. I didn’t find that hard. But you can’t say a bad word about daddy. Not speaking for dipsh— Billstime, my position is that you don’t compliment a dictator on starting a war.
  9. Most of the crew here says the US should have done the opposite. Denied membership forever.
  10. People can change their mind. Trump has twice complimented Putin on his invasion. This isn't basketball where you tell the other guy, "nice shot," out of respect FFS. Take a look at the Churchill video. You seem to need a refresher.
  11. Twice. Just like Churchill did. It's what good leaders do. I think Churchill said of Bautzen, "Hitler is a genius."
  12. Guess you like the Trump approach more than the Churchill one. Noted.
  13. Sounds like MOEX won't open tomorrow either. Putin probably has a lot of friends jockeying for position on those first sell orders. China could buy more petroleum but that can't happen overnight. And China would die if they tried to sit on an economic island with Russia. China knows that it's a beneficiary of world order. Russia and China have common adversaries but they are a long ways from friends.
  14. Perhaps. But at the cost of his economy and world standing. And trust me those are severe prices to pay assuming the west keeps the headlock on. And long term, the west may finally get off its teat, especially Germany. Ruble had its biggest one day drop ever. Market never opened.
  15. I again contrast the approaches above. Perhaps praising a dictator who just started a war...praising him for starting the war...creates as you say, more than a hub-bub.
  16. Putin wants NATO to declare Ukraine will never be allowed to join. He's said it many times. Putin does not get to make those decisions.
  17. Of course Russia didn't even open their stock market today. Holiday or something.
  18. Tanking Russia's economy (while supporting Ukraine--I see another $6.4B is on the table today) is not some small feat. And yeah, short of starting a direct war with Russia, that might be all we can do. The reality of the world is when a nuclear power takes some lesser country, the options are limited. Wait for Taiwan.
  19. You mean like the 620 million we already gave them this year? Not counting the 385M just committed? And as to NATO, we want countries to be worthy of NATO. That is a good thing. The Ukraine was not but why would NATO cut it off from rising to a level worthy of joining? And to be clear, that decision is not one that Russia gets to bully the world into. Imagine if Biden had lead the charge to pre-emptively deny Ukraine NATO membership because Putin demanded it. You would have been here saying how weak Biden is. Don't even try to deny it. You have no solutions. Only complaints. Seriously. We all make mistakes but come on! That's a lot of optimism for day 4.
