  1. Not surprised - socialist government, everybody is special, etc. When they essentially banned firearms several years ago, crime skyrocketed. Folks couldn't defend themselves, the deterrent factor was wiped away. There's a term - "Glasgowing" which refers to the knife stabbings.

I have read repeatedly, that the average Londoner is photographed 500 times a day by the government cameras.

    Sorry for the rant... :D

What????? <_< Are you in the wrong thread?

  2. Texas seems like a perfect fit from a geographical standpoint, but I know there's alot more to it than that. Yesterday on College Football Live they had a segment on the possibility of Texas going independant. The AD said they're considering it. There's gonna be a big shake up soon. How it turns out is anybodys guess.

  3. There's nothing better for close quarters defense than a shotgun. I have a Mossberg Persauder 12 gauge loaded with 00 buckshot.

I agree. For home protection a shotgun is best. It also is much less likely to penetrate walls and go on to hit an unintended target.

  4. So are they any alternatives to losing our manufacturing jobs? Do protectionist policies like tariffs help or hurt? How can we possibly compete against countries where labor is paid ridiculously low wages? Is it a battle that we've already lost, and are we destined to a lower and lower standard of living?

  5. OK,first of all I'm not much into politics cuz I can't stand the petty, partisan bickering. I'm asking an honest question here and would like to hear opinions from all sides. It seems to me that the U.S was at it's best when we had a strong manufacturing base that provided for a huge middle class. It makes sense, producing what you consume makes for a healthy economic cycle. Why has our manufacturing base disappeared and can it ever come back? If not, is there any industry that could potentially provide the jobs the manufacturing base once did? What effect would policies like tariffs have?

  6. I think its bull ****. The guy can't even have dogs now? I think that article gave Buffalo a bad rap. Yea he has made many mistakes, but we treat him like he has killed many people, and is involved in gangs, and he has not, and is not.

I kinda of feel bad for the guy, it sounds lke everyone has it out for him, he has done nothing but be professional about this.

I talked to Coy Wiresa agent a few years back, and some of these guys have never been tought anyhting but football. They dont know how to handle their finances or the fame.

I feel bad for Lynch too. He's viewed as a punk,or worse,by most around here. He has brought it on himself by some dumb actions, but I think alot of that is just immaturity. He was participating in a free football clinic, here in the town I live, last summer. It was at a park in a tough part of town, and was not given any publicity that I know of. We just happened to be in the same park that day and I watched Lynch interact with people. He had a real good way with people, especially the kids. I didn't talk to him or anything, but just watching him left an impression on me. I think he's a good kid. Hopefully he can get past these youthful mistakes he's made and let more people see what I saw.

  7. BTW....in case you think the bull got a free pass because he "won", think again. The bull always dies. Well, there have been times where the bull "fought so valiantly" the crowd implores the matador to let him live, but that is almost unheard of. Standard procedure is to bring out another matador and finish off the bull. Major suckitude for el toro.

Yeah,I know. I know all about bullfighting. I've actually been to bullfights in 4 different countries. In Portugal, the Azores and some parts of South America, the bull is allowed to exit the ring alive. The format is basically the same except at the end the matador performs a ceremonial kill and cows are let into the ring to lure the bull out. This actually has some of it's own entertainment value, cuz the humans, armed only with long poles, have a hard time controlling 5 or 6 female fighting cows as well as the angry bull.

  8. On the Flip side Marshawn should take the heat that he created and rush for 1500 yards to prove that he isn't the punk people think he is.

You're right that the popular perception of Lynch is that he's a punk. He has done it to himself and it's too bad. Last summer he participated a free football clinic being put on by Titan Chris Henry at a park in the town I live. It got no publicity and we just happened to be in the park when it was going on. I watched Marshawn interact with people and he really seemed like a nice guy. He was especially good with the kids. I think he's a good guy, just immature. It hope he gets his act together so more people can see the good side of him.

  9. Long story short, I was reading about a bar in DC where the owner requires his servers to wear "shirt garters". I had never heard of them, so googled them, and just ordered 2 pair. I think this is a brilliant idea as my shirts often look just like that guy in the picture. Be great if someone else has used them and can give a review, but posting more as a service as I sure as hell had no idea these things existed before.

You should have just made some out of rubber bands and safety pins. Woulda saved you 20 bucks.

  10. Even though I'm born and raised in California,I've been a Michigan Wolverines fans since birth. In every sport. My Dads side of the family is from the Detroit area,so me and my brothers had no choice. Started being a Bills fan in the mid 60's cuz I liked the "bull" on the helmet and cuz they had a star player named Butch Byrd. I thought that was hella cool. Been an Oakland A's fan ever since they moved to Oakland because, like UM,my Dad told us that's the way it's gonna be. Never been a huge NBA fan,but I do root for the Kings, and have ever since they came to NorCal.GO BLUE!!!!

  11. I would think the liability issues would be big. What if you had an emergency and your ignition lock device failed. Would people with asthma or COPD be exempt? I could just see all the running cars in bar parking lots, started before the drinking comenced! Breathalyzers often seem to take many attempts to get successful readings too. I may be in the minority, but I want less electronic crap on my car. I would be extremely upset if a non-essential electronic device malfunctioned and rendered my car useless when I was trying to get to work in the morning.

You make some valid points. I'm just thinking out loud on this issue, but drunks take so many innocent lives that the interlock sounds like a reasonable way to combat it. As far as wanting less electronic crap on your car,I'm all with you on that. When I first started driving (in the 70's) cars electrical systems were so simple. I never took my cars to a mechanic, you could do almost all repairs yourself. Nowadays you need to be an electrician, computer tech and NASA scientist rolled into one just to diagnose the problem!

  12. I'm for putting them in all cars. And before you call me a nut, just consider this.....they have other safety devices such as seatbelts, airbags, etc all designed to keep drivers safe....how is the interlock so much different? All the cost from those other technologies were eventually passed down to the consumer and I didn't hear people biitchin about the cost of airbags. Anyway for me, the peace of mind that there aren't a crap load of drunk drivers on the roads with me and family is well worth it.

I agree. I'd be OK with making them standard equpment on all new cars. The only problem would be with all the older vehicles already out there. Drunks would just start driving old cars. Not sure how you would work that out.
