  1. I like pretty much all vegtables,I can't really think of one I can't stand. A couple favorites I don't see mentioned here, grey squash and favas. Cook the favas in a sauce of olive oil, garlic, onions, cilantro and red chiles. Slice the gray squash and throw it in a pan with onions, tomatoes, cilantro,a little red wine vinegar and olive oil. Damn good.

  2. I'm not a supporter of the death penalty, but if we're gonna have it,I have no problem with carrying it out in this way. It's quick, cheap and no more painful than any other method currently in use. My only question is,why do they aim for the heart instead of the head?

  3. Really? I've known some 1%ers and if you respect them they are OK with you

I would fear the gov't way more what with them taking more of your feedoms away and your standard of living through taxing you to all hell and not giving a #### about you so long as you feed the monster

I've known a few too,and have been treated respectfully by them as you have. I've also known plenty of Nortenos and they're cool too. But they are both gangsters and have bought into that whole garbage lifestyle and would kill you if thats what the gang wanted. I stay as far away as possible from these losers.

  4. Biggest problem is still the boosters and/or alumni. Schools can crack down and self report violations all day long, but boosters with deep pockets will continue to find ways to "help" aspiring student-athletes achieve their dreams.

Like this guy from USC. USC did not cheat. They just broke the rules.

Maybe I'm old fashioned but I think they cheated. Big time. We're not talking about a phone call during a dead period in recruiting,or not counting stretching towards your weekly workout minutes. We're talking about compensating players with houses and who knows what else. The rumors had been around on the message boards for years, and not just about Reggie Bush or the football team. U$C was dirty as hell and they finally got caught at something.

  5. Agree with a lot of your points, but what if this is the first step to going to a (for the sake of argument) FOUR Conference system?

We would eventually end up with The NorthEast Conference, The SouthEast Conference, The Mid-West Conference, and the Western Conference. Each conference having some 20 teams, and sending their top 4 teams to the Championship Tournament. Currently, the SEC has the SEC East and SEC West. With expansion, maybe each Conference ends up looking more like an NFL conference, with it's own sub-divisions in order to keep that regional division feel. Then each division winner goes to the Tournament...

    i dont know...

It's an interesting topic to discuss. I don't like the Pac 10 swallowing up the Big 12. It takes away from the regionality (is that a word??) of the college game. It's very hard to come up with a good playoff system because you have over 100 1A colleges and only a 12 game season. I'm not sure it can ever be done.

  6. But isn't that how it is already? If the best two teams in the country are in one conference, the votes/polls will almost never put them both in the NC game. Yeah, the playoff system would be flawed, but what system doesn't have a single flaw? I'd much rather see a system where one bad game in september doesn't completely ruin your chances.

I like the fact that one bad game can ruin your season. It makes every game more important.

  7. potentially a lot. maybe 16 in the Pac10 (not sure about ACC). which is why i think this may actually HELP move towards a playoff system.

IF the Big 12 were to dissipate into the Pac10, SEC, Big10 and...

IF those conferences all had Championships...

I think it would help make rankings and tournament berths more accurate.

I don't like it at all. It will make a national championship playoff easier, but so flawed it's not worth it,imo. If the Pac 10 goes to 16 as proposed, you could have Texas,Oklahoma and USC in the same conference. Only 1 could make it out of conference to the playoff, that makes no sense. Those are 3 of the top programs in the country. Conferences should not grow past 12 teams. I hope the Big 12 survives. Texas and Oklahoma in the Pac 10 makes no geographical sense. The south-central region of the country needs it's own conference. The regional divisions of college football is one of the things that makes it great.

  8. No, apparently you need it explained to you. Obviously I used the slur intentionally to draw the point; thank you for taking the bait (please return my sinker at your convenience).

But you failed to answer my question. Why is it that you are upset by my words yet you excuse the racist teacher's? Are you just a hypocrite?

Wow,KD. You used wetback in there???? I hadn't even noticed that until puente pointed it out. That's not cool. I'm not defending the teacher but that's not right. :)

  9. This teacher is obviously an extremist nut. I have 4 kids that have all gone to public schools. 2 have already graduated,1 is almost done and the baby still has several years left. I have NEVER run across a teacher anywhere close to this guy. A few teachers had a political bent that was noticable at times, some to the right and some to the left, but I never got the impression that any of them were trying to push their beliefs on my kids. At the high school level, some would debate with students about political issues, but I feel it was done in a pretty healthy, academic way. I've found most teachers to be hardworking people that are very dedicated to their jobs. This nutcase represents a tiny percentage of teachers overall, imo.

  10. This is so not cool..................bye bye Big 12

I don't want to see the Big 12 dissolved. Texas and Oklahoma in the Pac 10 makes no sense to me. The south-central region of the country should have it's own conference. That said,if the Big 12 is no more,I think Missouri ends up in the Big 10. We all need to hang on tight. This ride is just getting started. :worthy:

  11. Saw this story linked on another board:

Story is located in the Texas section of rivals (a/k/a orangebloods.com) and dated June 3, 2010.

This would probly be the end of the Big 12 if it goes down. I don't think I like that. I like the regional flavor of college football. Texas,Oklahoma,Nebraska, etc.,need to have their own conference, imo.

  12. True. Also true that he is ripping on Cali... But think of the ramifications. If they do it elsewhere (no bags)... Where the hell am I gonna put the spent kitty litter!

Get rid of the cat. Problem solved! :wallbash: The plastic bags are handy as garbage bags, but it won't make a big difference in my life whether we have them or not.

  13. arnold approves

What a messed up state. 19 Billion deficit but they have time to worry about grocery bags.

California definitely has it's political problems, but we're hardly a "messed up state". I wouldn't trade living here for anywhere else. An hour away from the Pacific ocean,an hour away from the Sierra Nevada and a beautiful Mediterranean climate. Yeah, that really sucks. I could care less what my grocery bags are made of. It's a hell of a lot better than living in the Arctic.
