1. Even if the Bengals would have whupped our ass,I don't want MM fired. Not yet anyway. I'm tired of going with these rookie head coaches. I say stick with MM until a proven pro HC becomes availiable. Someone like Jeff Fisher or Mike Shanahan. In the meantime maybe MM develops into a good HC and we just keep him. Merry Christmas!

  2. I think we should set up a bracket....Sam has to get through Jerry Gray; Mularkey and Tom Clements in the coaches bracket; Russ Brandon and Donahoe in the team administration bracket; JP versus Eric in the player bracket.

    Donahoe/Brandon winner faces Adams/Gray Winner

    JP/Eric Winner faces Mularkey/Clements winner

Prediction--Adams versus Mularkey for the belt...

Jim Kelly, Darryl Talley as special guest referees...

This might be more compelling than Sunday's game....definitely higher revenue potential...

How about a legends bracket? Bruce Smith goes up against Marv Levy,Darryl Talley takes on Bill Polian and Leonard Smith matches up with RW in the first round.

  3. Eric Moulds used to command almost constant double teams, thereby making other WR's around him better. I have not been able to watch all of this seasons games so I don't know if that is the case this year. I see that EM was basically benched this past week, after the first quarter. That is the same time that our offense went in the tank. Is that because with EM off the field the Fins could double Evans? If so,that's not a good sign if we plan on letting EM go this off-season.

  4. I realize Moulds cap number is too high for a WR of his age and production, but I really hope he and TD find a way for him to stay.It seems like he's always gotten quite a bit of critisism around here, but I think he's been a top notch WR and a team guy as well. He could have played the cry-baby card and left for a better team or more money years ago,but he chose to stick it out. And that was during a pretty sorry stretch of teams. If he does end up leaving,I hope he goes to a winner and gets a shot at a ring.I'll be rooting for him.

  5. This really is simple to figure out......

Sam was able to overpursue becuase Pat Williams was staying at home....

Now that we dont have that cushion....every time Sam overpursues and guesses wrong.....the bills line pays for it.

Get another anchor DT in here and we would see Sam looking like a Pro Bowler again.

You're right. That is the simplest solution. It just pisses me off that a guy being paid like Adams is won't swallow his pride a bit and help out the team.

  6. I agree with all of you who say this situation was brought on by TD.He should have either re-signed Pat or gotten a capable replacement. But that didn't happen.TD has done a poor job,but that doesn't excuse Adams actions. If a team asks you to stay at home and plug the middle, you do it.Especially when you're being paid millions. He pulled this crap with the Raiders and now he's doing it here. This is a team game and Sam ain't no team player.

  7. When you really boil down the situation with Adams,it just comes down to the guys an a-hole.I saw a similar scenario with him go down out here in Oakland. He was brought in and all the Raider fans were pumped cuz they thought they got a monstrous, impact player. Instead as the season wore on,he fought with the coaches and developed mysterious injuries and ended up getting little playing time. Even though he's 350+ lbs. he plays like a 285 lb gap shooting DT. He can have an impact, but only if he's allowed to do Sam wants to do.If you ask him to anchor, take on the double teams and make others around him better,he refuses and fights with the coaches. He's not a team player, and we're better off without him.

  8. I think we can really improve with the addition of 3 players. First,we need a real 2 gap DT.Not a fat guy who plays like a small guy (Adams).A real 2 gap guy that will anchor and do the dirty work.Problem is,these guys are hard to find.Next we need to find one solid OT and one solid OG.I don't think they have to be pro bowlers, just solid. If we can add these things, and just maintain as far as free agency goes,I think we could win 10 or 11 games next season.

  9. I can't believe the overreaction by so many on the board to the benching of Losman, in favor of Kelly Holcomb.  IMO, this move was warrented, and says nothing about Losman's future.

Maybe Holcomb will fall flat on his ass, like so many here seem to hope.  But say he doesn't, and comes out and moves the offense, and we win 3 of these next four games.  I think Mularkey and company owe it to the fans, and to the other guys on the roster, to give it a shot.  Why should the franchise  be conceding a season, after only four games, because a one player has had 1 quarter of the season to show that he is not ready, at this time, to move this offense?  If any of you watched either of the last two games objectively, you would realize, despite the miriad of problems this team has (third down defense, run defense, play calling) the opportunity for each of these games to be won, by the Bills, was there.  Losman just simply didn't make enough plays to make that difference.

JP Losman will be fine.  He does not lack confidence, and seems to understand things a little better than some here.  A lot of you who are crying foul now, are the same ones who praised TD for signing Holcomb to begin with.  Why do you think he was signed?

This is a completely logical move.  Many of you couldn't wait to get Bledsoe out of here, even when the team was winning with him, for what?  So we could piss away winnable games with an inexperienced QB?  I could understand the hysteria if the Bills were already out of the playoff picture, but they are just as alive as the other three AFC East teams.  So JP's development gets put on the back burner a little, why no worry for guys like Lee Evans who are young, and going to waste the way things are going now?

If Holcomb starts, and we lose 3 of the next four, or is just flat our miserable (I am not taking a stand either way on this, because unlike so many here, I can admit, I don't know how he will play) Losman will have an entire half a season to get experience.  Remember, since we seem to have this insatiable need to draw parallels to other teams, Eli didn't get the starting job for the Giants until week 9 last year...as the anti-Bledsoe faction used to love saying, "are you a Bills fan, or a JP Losman fan?"

I completely agree.I think this is why holcomb was brought in to begin with. He's a vet that can come in and start for a stretch while the kid goes thru the learning curve.

  10. Palmer sat his rookie year, and then started in '04.  He was 1 and 4 to start and was handing out interceptions like a Hare Krishna handing out cookie balls, but they stayed with him.

    467472

I thought palmer was pulled at some point and kitna went in for a stretch.I guess i'm mistaken on that, but it doesn't change my overall opinion that this is just part of jp's learning experience.Especially with the o-line we have, letting the kid sit and watch for a bit shouldn't hurt him.

  11. It seems like everyone thinks benching jp means the coaching staff is giving up on him. I disagree. Letting the kid sit and watch for a while can be part of his development. The bengals did a similar thing with palmer/kitna. I talked to a former nfl player on a local talk show this week about this subject. He said, and i agreed, that jp's confidence is probably shaken and he looks confused and that the best thing for him is to sit for a little while. I don't think this means mularkey is abandoning the long term plan for jp.I think jp will be back starting in a few weeks and be better for this experience.

  12. i think holcomb should start the next game and maybe more after that. we know he's not the long term answer, but he gives us a better shot at winning right now. it also gives jp a chance to watch a vet and learn a little more. leaving him in longer,at this point, may ruin the kids confidence. i think the bengals took a similar approach with palmer/kitna.

  13. Today, here in Cali,we are taking official note of a great man.Cesar Chavez. I don't think Cesar Chavez Day is recognized nationally, but it should be. Chavez represented all that is good in the labor movement. He fought for basic human rights like bathroom breaks and clean drinking water ,as well as better pay and benefits for the hard working men and women that help feed us all. Today many people still work much too hard for way too little. We all need to remember Cesar Chavez and keep in mind that lots of good, decent, hard working people still struggle in this country. Cesar believed it can and should be better. Si se Puede!

  14. Nor am I. Re read the post, It was aimed at the assclown that keeps posting about when to start JP like he knows something. The guy doesn't even listen to what JP has to say. but hey...he knows better than JP when JP should play.

And let me add if the GEEK knew anything about athletics he would know the ONLY way to get better at doing something is to DO IT. Not 'practice it' under safe conditions...DO IT.

    122346

I know from reading some of your old posts that you have had some sports-type injuries in your life. So have I. I think that both of us have some experience in organized sports. I know that even when doctors clear you to play, sometimes you are nowhere near top form. I just don't see the reason to rush Losman back when,to me,it's obvious this injury will still hamper him. The amount of money a person is paid has no effect on how fast the human body heals.

  15. Yeah GEEK.  As in John clayton, never played sports but is an expert geek. BTW...I was talking to FFS, but since you jumped in are you feeling that this might apply to you for some reason? hummmm...

    122320

I don't know why it always seems to get personal on this board when you're just trying to have a FOOTBALL discussion. I just don't get it. I've never met you and you have never met me. But I am POSITIVE if you met me face to face you wouldn't call me a geek.

  16. Hey FFS Losman says you are full of stevestojan. Go listen to his new QandA Session.  He IS Ready, just give him some snaps in practice.

Playing in real games at real speed is the ONLY WAY!  Even losman says so.  Too bad the rookie gets it and the geeks behind the keyboard typing out an essay on every damn post doesn't

    122308

Geeks? Wow.I had forgotten what a dumbass you are.

  17. 1) Let me see if I've got this straight.... you think that MM inserted a rookie QB into a game that had long been decided and he wasn't 100% healthy?  WTF? If he ain't healthy, then why risk putting him in a game that has already been decided.

    2) Stick with Drew.... Did we learn anything from the Larry Holmes vs. Muhammed Ali debacle?  Is this how you'd like to see Drew go out?

    122257

1.You don't think the NFL rushes people back on the field before they're 100%? You must be pretty naive.Sometimes it's called for. In this case it's not,our season is already lost. 2.Yes,stick with Drew for a few more weeks. I'm not concerned with how Drew goes out. I'm concerned with our teams future.

  18. I dont mind not starting him but would it really hurt for him to get time in the 2nd half of games?

    122217

Maybe sort of easing him in is the way to go. Let him get his feet wet during garbage time then have him start toward the end of the season. His leg is a concern to me. He said himself that he was thinking about it when he played, that tells me it probably still pains him.Let it heal completely, this season is lost anyway.I keep reading these media guys saying to start him now. What's the advantage of rushing him in on a bad leg?

  19. Not yet. It seems like everyone thinks we should throw the kid in there since this season is seemingly lost. He's not ready. He's not 100% healthy, and throwing him to the wolves could ruin his confidence at this point.I'm glad MM is not listening to the so-called experts on this one. Stick with Drew, and make the switch around game 14.
