Typically when I see a college coach get out early they were probably doing something they shouldn’t have been doing. Also, Saban screaming the loudest against NIL always made me suspicious.

I’m sure they were interchangeable and moved around but Davis definitely played the role of X mostly from what I saw. But it’s not like the X WR of old.

Gabe Davis was actually our X. But I don’t think the X is what it used to be. Back in Smith’s day the X was the clear WR1. Now it can be X, Z, slot, or even Y as the WR1.

I gotta watch Steve Smith’s rankings. Beane loves that guy.

We have to remember what the goal at WR is. It’s to find a WR1, not replace Gabe Davis. Let’s say their 1st round WR isn’t immediately a starter, let’s not go crazy. Maybe he plays 40-50% of the snaps in multiple WR positions. Lets not get upset. They could replace Gabe in free agency.

Hopefully 12 is over, at least as a base offense. Garbage.

I think they’ll draft 2 pretty early. I think the Bills should line Diggs up more in the slot next year anyway. I was a big fan of Tank Dell last year. I see Worthy as a better version of Tank Dell.

He’d be replacing Diggs.

Replacing Gabe will likely be someone bigger that can play the X WR role. Then there’s replacing Diggs in a year. 2 different types of WRs.

I think the Bills will take 2 different types of WRs this draft. A true X WR and a WR that excels after the catch. Both will likely have speed.

Here’s where I am with Franklin. He’s going to go top 25. His metrics are too good. Good Height and speed. Route running. I don’t even think we’ll get a shot at him unless we trade up.

Would you say $15 million AAV for a free agent is a can’t do contract? I also don’t think you understand how they can structure a contract so the 1st and even 2nd year cap hits are very low. Harty and Von Miller were about a million apart in 1st year cap hits and about $100 million apart in contract value.

Well see now you’re saying something different. They can but they won’t. Those are different conversations. They definitely can. Will they? Probably not. Contract structure is always important. Bills have been one of the top cash spenders over the last few years. I wonder if they slow down for a couple years. That’s an ownership decision though. We will see. When you manipulate the cap you’re dishing out millions of upfront cash. Pegula may not want to again.

Sure they can. Miller, Diggs, and White coming off the books soon. No clear big contract coming up, although I’m sure they want to sign guys like Rousseau, Spencer Brown and others. But yeah they have space. Space doesn’t need to be this year. It really depends on the owner and his willingness to hand out out big up front bonuses.

I’m not sure how the Bills approach free agency this year. I think they want to get a lot younger and faster. I think speed will be a theme. Jeremy Chinn sticks out as a player I think the Bills will try to sign.

Why? Josh actually needs an impact defensive player that shows up in the playoffs.
