After leaking 32 points. Well done, defense. Great job.

If you look at most defensive stats KC defense was better than Bills over the entire season .  So if leaking 32 points is so bad, then was leaking 29 by KC any better?  Did you think the Bills defense was going to shut out the Chiefs?

The bigger issue to me in this game was the two stops and 4th down, missed two point conversions, plus two 3 and outs in first half, repeatedly running same play on offense that wasn't working.

Gone - Elam, Kincaid(maybe find a trading partner), Miller, Hamlin, Spector, Cooper. I’m sure there are many others, but these seem to stand out.

Miller, Spector sure  Cooper thought he's a FA?? Hamline shouldn't be starting but  would be as good a backup as many teams have.   Kincaid is a huge over reaction like often the case here.  Posters here would have ran many Bills players off after first couple of seasons (Brown, Knox are at top of list) who have become strengths.   Did Kincaid have a disappointing year, yes, but was that on him or the offensive scheme?  Why did he have less targets to me that's due to scheme?  Looking at  his numbers, seemed like once he came back from being injured, he wasn't looked at very much.

As far as last play, that's one of those where his momentum is carrying him one way, and now needs to come back the other way.  It's a very easy play to make for those sitting in their recliners watching on TV, but much harder for the actual player on the field.

I don't know about getting rid of Elam and Hamlin. How are we going to replace the 15-17 yard cushion Elam gives prior to the snap?  Now to Hamlin he is elite in non speed and no awareness. These things would be very hard to replace in my opinion.

Basically this.  They need a lot of work on the defense.  Bass redeemed himself and seems to be right.  WR seems to be the only need on offense.

Hamlin is the first that needs to go. Rapp is also injured too much.  Douglas is on the wrong side of 30.

The front 7 is undersized and lacks the physical jam that good defenses have.

Hamlin doesn't need to go, but he shouldn't be the starter.  As a backup, he's likely as good as most backups.  Move Bishop to SS and sign a FA free safety.

Last year I'd have voted to sign Douglas to an extension, but his play dropped off.  IMO I'd use my 1st round draft pick on a CB, and sign Benford to an extension.  Then have Rapp, Hamlin, Ingram, Lewis as depth and maybe try and maybe sign a better backup CB too.

I'd put my big FA money on signing or trading for a DE who can get 10 sacks a year in his sleep.  Think AJ and Solomon as backs are good and sign Groot to a new contract.  I think Carter will become a good 1-DT, but still may struggle some in year 2.  Think Oliver will look much better with good play next to him

LB also needs some help Milano is back next year as costs more to cut him than keep him, but see how he plays next year if not back to old level, cut him in 2026.  And would use maybe a 3rd round pick on his possible replacement or a better version of Bernard.

Offense the only need is WR, I would start with signing Hollins to a 2 or maybe 3 year deal.  Think they are stuck with Samuel for another season as would also cost too much to cut.

Hendrickson will cost too much for us. Won't happen. We need a legit WR. Legit. Not a non-existent Amari. Not a cast of nobody's. We need a guy who can get open A LOT. A guy like that also opens up things for everyone else.

    Maybe right on Hendrickson.

As to WR, the Bills just scored the 2nd most points in the league, set  a team record for points scored.  So yes could they use a better sure.  But think DE and CB are bigger needs and defense in general.  To me the biggest weaknesses of the team, was getting off the field on 3rd, probably followed by sacks which are kind of inter related.

Are you kidding me? Kincaid is complete trash.

Really well the track record of TBD calling players trash is pretty bad, Brown Bass, Knox, 2 years ago Dawkins are a few that come to mind.  If players on the Bills roster could be voted off the team by fans they' all been gone along time ago along with others that have turned out well.

The problem is poster have zero patience, if a guy's not all pro by 2nd year, get rid of him is the mind set here.

Other than WR what position on offense is there even a likely open roster spot.

I'd sign Hollins to a 2 year deal, need one more WR and rest needs on on defense.

Agree biggest FA need is a DE who can get 10 sacks.  Heard rumors that Hendrikson on Bengals may be cut loose to save $$

Not quite a Mark Andrews. It was a weird floater of a pass from Allen, not a play/ball delivered exactly as it was drawn up. Still, he should've snagged it, but hardly a routine catch.

Agree wasn't a simple routine catch, had to come back for it and those are often tough of momentum going other way

    29 points be damned.

    - How many times did he watch KC stuff our QB sneak and then he continued to do it!?!? Over and over and over. KC is coached extremely well and knew exactly how to stop it. They blockaded that right side that Josh likes to go to it and he still went to it repeatedly.

    - Know that playstation roll out play that KC loves where Mahomes can either throw it to the RB or keep it? Yeah, we ran that twice all game. Both times picked up big yards. Never saw it again.

    - He and Kromer never adjusted the line (or the play-calling) to deal with the pass rush. The final 4th down call was a pick play with crossers that REQUIRES 2-3 seconds to get guys open. Spags knew this and sent the house. Brady apparently didn’t know this!?

    - Cook didn’t touch the ball once that last drive. And it wasn’t a time issue (we had a full 3 minutes).

    - A low percentage fade to Coleman on 3rd down with the game on the line?

Flame away, but I miss Daboll. I always felt confident with Daboll that we were going to drive the field at the end of games. The only concern I had was the defense. Daboll adjusted mid-game.

Not sure I agree on the Daboll part, but yeah Brady and Kromer weren't ready for anything KC did for the most part.  4 plays couldn't gain one yard!

Was the fade to Coleman on the coaches or was that just Josh being Josh again?

I don’t think coaching was that bad tonight. But Spags pulls a rabbit out of his hat in the biggest moment of the game with that CB blitz. So KC coaching won the game IMO.

Not just that one play, others too surprised Bills.  4 plays they couldn't gain one yard.   Early on Allen seemed to hyped too.  The team that made more good plays won, but think it was the execution of the play

I don’t know what’s going on with Christian Bedford. It’s like a complete media blackout. Nobody knows what’s going on hundreds of thousands of Bill fans are waiting to hear if he’s gonna play and yet we get nothing from the bills repeat reporters I don’t get it and don’t understand it. The bottom line is we need the information so let’s get on the ball people.

Unless the NFL requires this information to be released, then we don't need the information and are not required to have it.  We may like to know, but we don't need anything.

A former coach on Sirius radio was saying that you need 9 "blue chip" players to win a SuperBowl.  Didnt really define what blue chip was, but lets say Pro Bowl calibre.  So one of the top 4 in the conference.

    Who are the Bill 9?

Definite: Allen, Cook, Dawkins, Taron Johnson,

    Probably:  Shakir, Rouseau, Bernard, Benford,

Maybe:  Spencer Brown,  Oliver, Milano, Kincaid, Von

Thats 9, so I guess we can win this year.

    THoughts?

Probably going light on the O-line.  When you look at how well the Bills have run the ball and Allen is hardly ever sacked, could argue at least 4 of the 5 belong on list  I'd move Benford and Groot up to definite line and would add Knox

I think the offensive gameplan against the Ravens is under a little too much scrutiny (not directed at OP) than it should be.  The Ravens defense is arguably the best in the league and they blew up a lot of plays with great performances.  How many times have you seen our WR screens and Shakir get tackled for losses in open field?  I think a lot of our plays go for more yardage typically.

Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the defense.

Against the Chiefs, it should be a different ball game.  The Chiefs almost feel like a division rival at this point, in that we know each other so well.  The Chiefs passing game is way more effective and they rely on short passes, with the option of some trickery and deep shots.  I think the Bills will play more of their "keep the ball in front of us and wait for mistakes" defense, while the offense will pry be similar to what we saw in the Broncos game.

I'm the most worried about Special Teams.  This isn't a dig against Bass, as much as a compliment to how well the Chiefs special teams have been playing.  They are blocking FG's at a higher than average rate.

Exactly!  They had an early lead, also seeing many passes,(mostly by Ravens) being dropped due to cold, add to that going up against one of the best defenses and likely Henry scared the hell out of them.  So once they got the lead went conservative, probably a little too much in hindsight.  But no idea if had been more aggressive would have worked any better, and likely burnt less time off clock.

I don't think this means they will do that again this week, unless again they get a decent early lead.  Also will depend on how run game is doing overall, does seem like last few weeks O-line is really hitting their peak so that may also factor in.

Maybe stop setting expectations based on what "analysts" and "experts" say?  How many times have they picked Miami and/or the Jets in recent years to win the East?  This certainly isn't the first year the "analysts" and "experts" were comically wrong.

No one?  Betcha the players would disagree.

I'll bet Dan Marino thought that too, when he lost his first (and only) Super Bowl.  Nobody can predict the future.  You can say "next season we'll be able to build an even better team" all you want, doesn't mean it'll happen.

I'm not "ignoring any possibility" of anything.  I'm just not gonna sit here and say I'm content with this season at this point in time.

As far as "And telling yourself "if not now, WHEN?" doesn't make it happening in the future any more or less likely," that's true, but having more draft  picks and salary cap money next year doesn't guarantee anything, either.

They may win this year, they may not.  They may be better next year, they may not.  Again, there's no way to tell if "this isn't going to be our last shot" or not.  Hopefully, it isn't, but it could be.

The analysts and experts for the most part are giving unbiased opinions, unlike most fans here.  Are they wrong as much as they are right, certainly.  But many here either recognized based on the off season moves made this season that likely was going to be a downgrade to some level.  Then you had the other half here who don't like McD and Beane and blasted them for the make up of the roster.  And probably the same people who complained that it was a terrible roster, the next day posted that if they don't win the SB, they should be fired.  They covered themselves both ways!

If you asked the players on any team they will tend to be of the mind set that yes, they will win the SB every year, but probably deep down some may have wondered how well they really will do and I'm sure the front office back in the off season gave a credible assessment to TP based on moves made.    Very likely that included, we've made moves for the long term, we may take a step back, if things go well, we may not miss anything and could if some of the moves work out better than we hope, may exceed expectations.

At this point, things have gone much better than most everyone here anticipated so expectations or hope a better word hope are now much higher.  When only two wins away from SB champs, makes it easier to feel that way. If they lose one of the next two I will be disappointed but not going to condemn anyone.

To win it all no matter how good or bad the coaching and players are, involves a certain amount of luck, good matchups, avoiding injuries at bad times, getting the right calls from refs, etc.  Will they ever get this close again, agree, we don't know and while I do think there's a good chance the team could be better next year, nothing is promised.

Well it looks like Brady may NOT be getting a HC job after all...

    Projected hires:

    Cowboys - Kellen Moore

    Raiders - Todd Monken

    Jaguars - Liam Coen

    Saints - Mike McCarthy

    Jets - Aaron Glenn

    https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-coaching-candidates-predicting-where-182252859.html

Lions losing last week helps keep Brady as teams don't want to wait to hire someone.  If the Bills win Sunday, Brady is almost assured to stay.

On a related subject what happened this year compared to others for all the love for Spags?   He was always the hot hire name prior, this year nothing.   Did he maybe announce he didn't want a HC job and I missed that?

Im happy as well. But let's be clear, they were projected to finish 3rd in the division by clowns on TV. No Bills fan should have expected that.

The team is where it should be. Anything short of a trip to the Superbowl is a failed season.

The difference is the "clowns" on TV for the most part are giving unbiased opinions.  Bills fans are looking at it through rose colored glasses and remember the word "fan" is short for fanatic.  Lets face it all of us who take the time an energy to post on message boards are fanatics, nothing less.  My wife always questions why I'm on TBD in March, the season is over as she says.   Whenever anyone in the media bashes the Bills, he's a jerk, the ones that talk good about the team are the smart ones according to many around here.

Anything short of a trip to the Superbowl is a failed disappointing season.

But I get it too, many here have agenda's and have stated McD must go so calling it a failed season is fuel for their argument.

If you want McD gone you have to think that Harbaugh needs to go too right?

After all no hc qb combo has won a sb after 5 years together.

After all he is 1-2 as the 1 seed since 2019.

After all he is 2-4 in the postseason since 2018.

After all he has only made it to 1 afc championship with one of the most electric qbs in the game.

After all he has a 2 time mvp qb and has only won 1 division title in the last 4 years.

After all he has lost to a washed up philip rivers and ryan tannehil in the playoffs!

After all he has a 1-3 playoff record at home since 2018.

So if you wamt McD gone for underperforming and losing to the chiefs 3 of 4 years certainly you think Harbaugh is trash and needs to go to right?

The Bills and McD have outperformed them over the last 6 years and the Ravens have the benefit of the mvp and 3 first team all pros this year vs the Bills single 2nd team all pro yet still lost to the same team at home as the Bills did.

Or does a super bowl 11 years ago followed by a single afc title game appearance this year carry that much water?

Recent history and performance clearly favors McD so I am very interested to hear opinions of Harbaugh and whether he should keep his job or be fired.

The line forms behind Tomlin if you ask me.  Heard Taylor and McDaniel's were asking for directions to the line
