Yea which I also find kind of strange…Josh was pretty good in 2 of those 3 losses.  I think it’s the turnover narrative working against him more than anything

Yeah that's likely a big part of it and many are really bad throws into double coverage.  Even in the final Miami game the 1st one was like what is he thinking. and the 2nd one had a guy open right away in flat which would have been enough for 1st down, but didn't take then throws int in endzone.

Which part? Lol I’d agree mvp voting doesn’t work that way those are just general comments.  It probably should but it never will.  Feels like it’s part popularity contest and part comparing stat sheets

Agree with that part, but also add in third part, number of wins.  Think it may be different too if Bills had lost 3 games instead to KC, Dallas, and Miami  good playoff teams instead of Jax, NE, and Denver . Add to that the Int's Allen through in those games hurt his chances.

I assumed the rule is that if the fumbling player touches the ball while he is OOB, then ball is considered OOB and play is dead.

If that’s the rule, it’s a stupid rule.

it should be if the player possess the ball and he is OOB, then ball is OOB.

But what if a player is clearly standing up out of bounds a bouncing ball hits him the chest and now goes back into field of play.  If it hadn't hit him it would have landed 5 feet OB, but now it's a live ball.  So to make the rule simple, if it's touched by a player OB, the ball is OB

A play can be both DH and PI.
If the player starts holding before the ball is thrown, and continues the hold while ball is in the air, it is both DH and PI. In this play, the refs got it right. The uncatchable ball negated the PI but not the DH.

Understand, but then why did it take so long to figure out?  The way the whole thing went down it didn't have good optics if you were a Steelers fan.  This thread was about how the officiating went against the Bills, I'm just giving the OP examples of how from the Steelers side, the opposite was true.

I really think he’s rewriting the analytics of football.  He’s so good at picking spots to take shots where even an INT doesn’t hurt terribly this season that it kind of makes me chuckle when people just talk about his total INT number.  Not all ints are created equal

hes giving his guys shots to make plays for pretty low risk on the majority of his ints it feels like

Bills had the worst defense in the league for that stretch you mentioned…that jags game decimated the team until Douglas got acclimated and righted the ship a little bit

send Lamar’s number 1 ranked defense on a 1 month vacation and he’d have less wins too

Yeah but that's not how the world works.

That DH was absolutely a penalty. The refs just had to decide if it was going to be PI or DH. They made the right call as the ball was so far out of bounds, but it doesn't negate the holding or illegal contact after 5 yards.

Agree it was a penalty, but then why did it take so long to figure out?  My thinking was the official planned to call PI, but they realized that wasn't going to go over well so came up with plan B.

Jerry "Freakin" Rice never won a regular season MVP.

Drew Brees, Randy Moss, and Roger Staubach did not either.

Yes, the Super Bowl win and SB MVP is most important.

Still, I am wondering who can honestly vote for Lamar Jackson to win a 2nd MVP when Josh Allen is significantly more valuable than Lamar.

And, it is just criminal if Lamar had 2 MVP's when the two best WR's (imo) did not win one combined in Rice and Moss.

I'm sure all the fans in Baltimore would agree with you.

The simple question to answer is if Josh Allen is significantly more valuable, why did he manage to lose two more games and likely had been three if last game mattered to Ravens.  Take the Denver, NE, Jax games.  If the Bills had won two of them good chance then Allen would be the MVP.

  8. As Gene S the rules expert stated on the air, don't get hung on the exact words of "the ball was fumbled out of bounds." Did the Steeler players helmet glance off it.  Did I clearly see it hit the helmet no, but can't say it didn't wither.   The replay wasn't clear enough to say for certain, so without being able to answer that question it goes back to has to be clear evidence to overturn.  It's one of those plays where if they had ruled Bills ball, it never would have been over turned the other way either.

Should they have given a better explanation, yes I agree there and probably in a couple days will read somewhere what it was.

But there were also a number of calls that went against Pitt that could have easily been called.  If I were a Steeler fan II'd be furious on that DH call that went against them late.  The announcers were all saying, the ball was un-catchable.  So the refs talked for about two minutes and figured out, lets change it from PI to DH, then the Steelers can't argue it couldn't be caught. To me the ball was in the air when contact was made which means the right call would be PI.

  9. I will say one thing about Diggs, I do think he is still a great WR, but is very comical to watch him try to block downfield.   If I were a defensive player and I had a choice between taking on Diggs or Allen to shed a block, I'd prefer taking on Diggs every time.

Agree.  What I will say, and I have been saying this for the last couple of seasons is that Beane and McDermott need to bring in camp competition

in both kicker and punter positions for multiple reasons.  I would like to see a new ST coordinator (or at least a new assistant with upside) too.

It's not wise to have these 2 guys kicking throughout the entire year with no one able to come in if needed.

Definitely agree on punter competition or just sign or draft someone who has better stats.

Kicking think it's hard to bring in competition for a guy who is 85% lifetime and is still pretty young so it's not like his leg has worn out.

Looking at the lifetime list there's not many kickers above him that either haven't long retired or active on another team.

  11. Since this thread is about singers.

Just curious recall Bon Jovi saying he'd never do a concert in Buffalo. Is that streak still standing or has he in more recent years relented and performed in western NY?

  12. If they really wanted they could sign him for punting, but keep Martin active for holding, but means giving up a roster spot someplace else which may be hard to do with all the injuries.

Bass is now 78% for the year (5th worst in NFL) and we haven’t let him attempt a field goal over 50 yards in 3 months.

He also just missed a 20-some yard field goal.

Can we trust him to make a game winning Playoff/Super Bowl kick at this point?

He's 85% for his career which ranks him #25 lifetime out of a list of 178. So I think with those stats, he deserves a long leash.

During the regular season he missed 2 that were 50+ and 3 40 to 49 yards.

While the field looked real good on TV who knows how slick or frozen it might have been.  Recall yesterday on one of the shows they were talking about, regardless how well they cleared the snow off the field, it was going to be frozen solid.

Prior to this year, everyone was raving about him.

What are you gonna do? It's not like they can draft a QB this year after Tua led the league in yards, and a coach's leash is very short. It's almost impossible for them to move on from Tua barring injury for at least 2-3 years. It's just not a thing that happens in the NFL unless you have a late round pick that turns into a super star due to injury.

You could hope you could find a team to trade Tua to for an early 1st round pick.  But then you're taking a chance on the guy you draft ends up being even as good as Tua is and likely will take a couple years for him to get there.  By that point, the rest of the team has turned over

Maybe you match him with a RB like Henry and mainly feature the run.  It likely also has to be a team in warm weather or a dome.  Miami did get lucky this year in that Tua didn't get hurt, will that luck hold out for another season?

It might not even last til the first snap. Effectively it would be pointless

He's saying you keep them in a heating device, maybe every 2 snaps bring in a new one out of the oven.  The oven keeps them say at 70 deg.

Well. Monday’s game will decide it. If KS shows his stuff well, he will likely be our #2 going forward.
Cap issues are front and center. Unless Gabe takes a homer, which I personally wouldn’t, we’ll go with the 3rd rookie contract.

    .

You think??  Seems KS is a better slot guy than a #2.  I can see it being like it was 3 or 4 years ago.  Beasley was the slot guy, not the #2, but had more receptions and many more targets than the #2 WR.

That brings up what do you do with Davis.  I'd like to see him brought back mainly for his blocking abilities assuming he takes a number representative of what he's done.  I would then draft a true WR in the 1st or 2nd round.  Think that would especially help if replacing the #2 WR with a rookie, when need blocking, bring in Davis and even early in year let Davis play more

Davis is then the $4 WR or moves up in case on injury to someone.  I'd also then look to sign someone who's a good return guy to take Hardy's place, maybe it's Hines on a cheaper deal, that would allow the Bills to then release both Hardy and Shefeld   WR group is then Diggs, rookie, KS, Davis, Shorter, and maybe someone like an Isabella as a PS callup when needed or they sign someone else too.

Yes. Either pit arrives today as originally scheduled and spends two hotel nights…or come early Monday. Not coming Sunday with a travel ban.

Read an article believe it was in the Athletic that states their plan is to fly out of Pitt Sunday afternoon at 3:00. That could change or be incorrect, but that's what it stated.

So the players don't normally go straight from practice to the hotel.  They practice about 11 am and usually wrap up whatever by 1:30-ish is my understanding, then for a home game they're free until 7 pm.

Really good question on "where do the Bills typically stay for home games?"  I don't know - hopefully someone does.

There was an announcement of Ellicott Hotels as "the official hotel partner of the Buffalo Bills".  Ellicot Hotels has a downtown hotel normally about 20 minutes to the stadium, but that seems like a Bad Idea to try to get to or from in a snowstorm.  They own a bunch of hotels, but the ones closest to the Stadium are like your Country Inn/Hampton Inn/Staybridge moderate-price niche.

Staybridge maybe, if the "Hotel partner" means anything?  It's 6 miles from the Stadium and has multiple possible routes.

Like they did in London with the Jags game and on the Tuesday game with the Titans, Got It.

Wow, I figured this was the 2nd worst kept secret in buffalo, behind only the whereabouts of Pegulas jet.

Would tyhink they need a hotel with large meeting spaces and areas for food setup too.

Do they fly?  I know, for example, that the Giants take busses to Philly and a train to Washington.

You must have read the same article a couple week back that I did! LOL

True could be by bus.  Pretty certain it won't be train though.  Seems like Pitt to Buffalo is further than NJ to Phil?

  19. I wonder how this affects Pitt travel plans?  Did they already leave for Buffalo, I'd guess not.  Will they now stay home till Sunday, but then risk having a hard time getting to Buffalo, or will they fly in Monday morning?  That creates an unusual travel plan which could mess with them.

OK just read they are flying to Buffalo Sunday at 3:00
