So why was Amari Cooper traded twice in his prime?
Brand J replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was unaware of it at the time since I don’t follow Dallas, but there were loud cries from former players like Michael Irvin that Amari was “selfish” for not getting the vaccination. Florio said he was putting the entire team at risk. Once the media starts making it a divisive issue, it gets to be a snowball that grows and villainizes the player. Dak had to speak publicly about it to defend Cooper and we all know how Jerry Jones felt about it, so it was an uncomfortable situation. If Amari had fallen in line and just got the vaccination, I don’t think he would’ve got traded to the Browns, even with the emergence of Lamb. They were quite happy with Cooper’s production and what he did for that offense. As far as the stadium booing, maybe 4 years ago but not now. Let’s just be glad the vaccination issue is a thing of the past. -
They do somewhere. When Von first joined the team, he and Groot played on the same side and it was said Groot would have to learn the other side because rushing the RT was where Von has made his bread and butter. What I was reading also listed Von’s stats from the past 5 years (prior to joining the Bills) and something like 88% of his production was from the defensive left. Showed how the Rams tried to initially use him on the right, going against LTs, but then he gravitated back to the left like when he was a Bronco and spent almost all his time there. The stats are out there on Rousseau as well, maybe someone else knows where to find them.

I was talking to a Cowpokes fan about why Amari was moved and he said there was an entire ordeal about Cooper’s decision not to get vaccinated, that Jerry Jones didn’t take that well and there was sort of a falling out. He said it had much more to do with that than paying Cooper market value. -
Problem is, that’s the same side from where Von rushes best. They put up stats of how effective Miller was rushing from the left and right and he’s had far more reps and production in his career from the defensive left.

Keon Coleman 5th In Rookie Receiving Yards
Brand J replied to iwishitwerecolder's topic in The Stadium Wall
McD on the pass that hit Coleman in the head in Houston: “let me clear that up, that wasn’t Keon’s fault.” Sounds like Josh saw something and went off script and Keon wasn’t on his page. -
Could Lamar be a 3x MVP? Would the league grant him back to back honors?

Defense: 1st Half vs 2nd Half - What is going on?
Brand J replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
The defense has been Charmin soft in the first halves. The schemes allow QBs and WRs to play pitch and catch and the flats are hardly defended, so TEs and RBs also have uncontested receptions. If you ask me, the coaches depend too much on the front 4 to disrupt the QB. When they’re not getting back there (as is usually the case in the first half), the back 7 have the resistance of tissue paper. To their credit, the Bills have adjusted well in the second halves, but I’d like to see schemes that open with the assumption the front 4 won’t come out disruptive. -

As much as I love TB43’s game, he’s not a must re-sign. Too often injured. -

It’s not ALL on Allen, but he certainly bears some of the blame for the struggling passing attack. To suggest he’s been near perfect and everyone else is at fault is asinine. -
What exactly is the real story with Mike Edwards?
Brand J replied to Jukester's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sorry, I shouldn’t have said “much more athletic,” but Edwards does have the better profile. Hamlin also isn’t 4 inches taller and 10 pounds heavier, not sure where you’re getting your numbers. As to @Billl’s post, it’s less about believing Edwards is an untapped gem of a player, and more about questioning can he play safety at a higher level than Damar Hamlin. This is slightly off topic, but on brand with the post: If Elam goes off and signs with a different club, becomes a starter, and makes plays for that team, half the Bills fanbase will be in an uproar because he was here, drafted in the 1st, and couldn’t get on the field. Moral of the story is, if the player isn’t significantly better than the guy ahead of him, he’ll always be at the mercy of sport politics. Happens to most who aren’t superstars. -

Edwards was a former 2019 3rd round draft pick out of Kentucky. He’s much more athletic than Hamlin and has career stats of: 235 tackles 3 sacks 1 forced fumble 5 fumble recoveries 26 passes defensed 8 INTs 4 defensive TDs Hard to believe he’s not a better overall player than Hamlin. I referenced Poona Ford as someone who was a starter with Seattle, came to the Bills and struggled to get on the field (in a rotation no less) and then left to be a starter again in Los Angeles. McD has his guys and rolls with them, despite better potential on the bench. -
Any criticism of Josh is blasphemous and must be ignored 😅 I agree with Cosell, we’ve all seen Josh bail from clean pockets which disrupts the structure of the passing game - and if he’s rolling to the sideline - shrinks the field in half. He’s never been a structure QB like a Tua or a Purdy, he probably prefers sandlot type of football, so he is what he is at this point. For the majority of games, Josh is not the primary problem, the defense needs to step up. As for having a legitimate X receiver now, hopefully it opens up everyone else. We’ll get a first glimpse of that against the Titans, the #1 defense in the NFL (in terms of yards allowed).

Poona Ford couldn’t get on the field for the Bills, despite poor defensive tackle play, but he’s playing well for the Chargers who have a top defense. -
The problem with the 4-3 is that you take Taron off the field. Probably too late to coach him up as a sort of hybrid free safety, but you’d have the best defensive starters out there if he could handle it.
-
If he doesn’t improve upon his current play as a pass rusher, the most I’d offer Rousseau is $18M/yr and I think that’s generous for what he brings. What big time play do you remember Rousseau making in the playoffs against any team? Yeah, I can’t remember either.

To me, Dorian is a slightly more athletic and bigger Nick Bolton but doesn’t process as fast. The more time he gets on the field, maybe he closes that gap. He’s trending upwards for sure.

Bass has a leg that is plenty strong enough. Remember the game he made two 58 yarders with room to spare? I haven’t seen the Bills in a position to kick a long FG, say 4th and 7+ from the 38 yard line. When they go for it, it’s almost always 4th and less than 3. I’d like to see a scenario from the 38 yard line where it’s a long 4th down. Do they punt, or do they attempt the 55 yarder?
-
Most teams in the league have an established kicker. The ones that don’t, they invite guys to come in - some get an invite, some don’t - but many players (especially kickers/punters) get overlooked. If they are fortunate enough to work out with a team, but the team goes in a different direction, their dream may be gone, or at the very least put on hold. There’s a bit of luck involved. Timing is everything, along with opportunity. If neither are available, the player sits at home on the couch, or plays in another league. If they’re afforded an opportunity to play in the NFL, then of course it’s on them to make the most of it. Some do while others don’t. Don’t take playing in another league or sitting at home on the couch as an indication they can’t play. The ones who can need to come along at the right time and have the chance to show what they can do (as well as belief from the coaching staff).

I said the EXACT same about Dorian Williams last year, no lie. And come playoff time what happened? Enter the disaster that was AJ Klein.

Jerry Jones gets snippy during radio interview.

Jerry Jones on participating at a desegregation rally -
Funny thing is, there’s at least ONE guy out there right now who’s waiting to become the next Brandon Aubrey, but to this point has lacked opportunity and belief from a coaching staff. Whether he’s in the UFL, CFL, a UDFA right now, or whatever, he’s out there. But we’re not likely to find him without a crystal ball foretelling the futures of all available kickers should they get an opportunity.
-
Only drawback to the fat guy is that with the new kickoff rules a TD is more likely than before, so your kicker is your last line of defense. He’s gotta be able to run.

Looks like he has a big leg, but his accuracy has been terrible throughout college and the pros.
