  1. I actually feel worse for you, someone who spends 500 posts arguing something you dont even understand. also, something thats completely and utterly wrong. Go back and take a stats class thats above a 2nd grade level, then come back to the adult table for a discussion.
  2. this has nothing at all to do with regression to the mean. When you select a data point that is far from the mean, the next data point has a probability of being closer to the mean due to variance and simple probability, NOT BECAUSE OF ERROR. Just the dice example that Bungee provided. (the one your dumb ass couldnt understand) My God oyu are a dumbass.
  3. Still not quite sure what your arguement is. The balanced schedule has only been in place since 2002, when the texans joined the league. With it, he's guaranteed to play KC much more often than he's guaranteed to play NO or Arizona. McNair played KC in tenny in 2004. He played KC in tenny in 2000. He has hurt when tenny played KC in 1999.
  4. Same thing with quinn and troy smith. Smith wins the heisman and wins the best QB award, but quinn, by definition, the 2nd best QB, wins the best college player in the nation? Thats TBD quality lahjik there.
  5. Its ok. you just regressed to the mean.
  6. This statement is completely and utterly incorrect. Since you have no idea what that person's "real IQ" is, you have no idea whether re-taking the test will cause it to flucuate up or down. IT ISNT GOING TO AUTOMATICALLY REGRESS TO THE MEAN OF THE POPULATION. THE PERSON'S IQ SCORE WILL MOVE TOWARD THAT SPECIFIC PERSON'S INDIVIDUAL IQ SCORE, NOT TOWARDS THE POPULATION MEAN.
  7. But winning destroys the franchise!
  8. We'll play any given NFC team 1 time maximum in every 4 years. We'll play and given AFC team (outside of our division) at mimimum of 1 time every 3 years. The remaining 2 games on the schedule are determined by division finish. i dont think determining 2 games out of 16 (12.5%) based on the previous year is too much. I think the system works pretty good. Every team in your division has 14 common opponents. Therefore everyone in a given division should have a very similar SOS.
  9. Ok, i think ti went like this. 1. Holcombs arm spends 500 posts incorrectly arguing that error causes regression to the mean. 2. holcombs arm is proved wrong on an hourly basis 3. Holcombs arm claims that he was arguing only that regression toward the mean happens 4. We call out out holcombs arm due to his flip-flop in #3 5. Holcombs arm then claims that he never flip-flopped and us in step #4 are wrong 6. Holcombs arm continues to argue that regression to the mean is due to error.
  10. I hope that today is the only time you have to take the teaching test. If not, you are in trouble, because according to holcombs arm, your score is going to be worse next time, due to regression to the mean.
  11. I've gotta try the holcombs arm statistics method when doing research. Because according to him, if any of my data is bad, i just need to keep measuring it. It will eventually regress to the population mean, and now i'll have good data.
  12. Nope. your dumbass arguement is STILL incorrect, and you STILL dont know what the hell you are talking about.
  13. Bzzzzzt. Incorrect answer. Please try again. Individual data points do NOT regress towards the population mean.
  14. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2691969 Deltha O'Neal this time. Charged with DWI after late friday night/early sat morning.
  15. Are you doing holcombs arm math? You B word that we dont pass enough, and you support this by throwing out data points that actually FIT the criteria you are bitching about. My God some people are dense.
  16. nice little switch attempt there mr kerry. You spend 50 pages arguing that error causes regression to the mean, and now, since thats been proven wrong, you are arguing that regression to the mean just simply happens. way to change your story after you got spanked like a school girl.
  17. With the way you keep changing your stance on what you are wrongly arguing, i'm just going to start calling you john kerry.
  18. Wow. this could really be taken out of context.
  19. Have a few more on me... NOW will you tell (or show) me what you sleep in?
  20. I know, the last 5 games, with 3 wins, and 2 close losses, have been absolutely terrible.
  21. I'm holding out for an Aaron Burr...or a George Clinton, so long as he brings the funk.
  22. They are working on passing a $2 vice presidential coin? Congress and politics in general is one giant cluster!@#$.

  24. Very true. One of the biggest problems with the whole IQ thingy, is that you are trying to assign a number to this basically abstract concept called "intelligence". It cant be realiably or realistically quantified, no matter how good the test. You can make your plastic parts all day, and they arent going to change just because you got into a fight with your wife the night before, or you drank too much, or you are excited about the weekend. With an "IQ test", lets say i score a 130. The next time i take the test, maybe i score a 110. But what the score doesnt tell you is that i was up all night right before the test. So is that error in the test? No, that variance in score is attributed to being a human and having roughly 8,000,000 affecting your performance at any given time. I didnt "regress toward the mean" because there was error. I !@#$ed around all night, got no sleep, and then did piss poor on the test. The test was fine. it was ME that wasnt. You cant reasonably expect to assign a number to something like "intelligence" when there are a ton of factors and forces that effect it.
  25. he has? He's done a solid job as a backup, but i'd hardly say he can carry the load.
