37%, definitive yankee. btw - we have this argument all the time down here, and i'm the only one that insists that "cot" and "caught" are pronounced differently.

The Bills do NOT spend more picks on the secondary
Ramius replied to Ramius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i could theoretically run the pro-bowler/starter/bust numbers, but i dont have that much time. In my opinion, assigning an arbitrary "value" to draft picks isnt going to get you anywhere, because there are a million ways to assign values so they skew the results towards what you want to see. I can email you the file with the numbers if you are interested, however. And just for arguements sake, here are the league averages +/- std. dev. Round 1: 1.56 +/- 1.24 Buffalo: 3 picks (note: roughly half the league has spent 0 or 1 1st rounder, and half has spent 2 or more) Round 2: 1.75 +/- 0.98 Buffalo: 0 picks Round 3: 1.72 +/- 1.05 Buffao: 2 picks Based off of those, it shows that buffalo spends an average number of "high picks" on DBs, however, when you break the picks down, we seem to spend more at the top end than the bottom end. -
Tallahassee isnt florida. Its south georgia. We're 30-35 miles from the gulf, so we get no breeze off the water. We will hit triple digits from time to time, but the humidity is the real killer here. Typical july and august is mid to high 90's with at least 80+% humidity. Heat indices approaching and over 110 are not uncommon down here. Nothing like walking into work at 8:30am in july and being covered in sweat from the walk in through the virtual steam bath.

post of the year. Hell, this might be the single best post on TBD ever.

The Bills do NOT spend more picks on the secondary
Ramius replied to Ramius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i thought about that, but its very difficult to come up with a reasonable ranking scale of the draft picks. Another inherent problem is that teams can't control where they draft. Take the Colts. They've drafted a league high 10 DBs in the first 3 rounds. But, they're traditionally picking at the end of each round. Would they have taken a DB if they were picking 15 spots higher? We simply dont know, so i did what i could to leave that speculation out. In this study, 99% of the posters here understand that i was looking for a general trend of high draft picks. I didnt run these numbers to pursue any agenda, i just wanted to see if the Bills do or do not actually spend more picks on DBs in the early rounds compared. Ignore AKC. He's mad because he tried to do a study with fuzzy math, bad statistics, and leaving out data that didnt fit his point. I was one of numerous posters that called him out on his shoddy work, and his insults here are a childish attempt at revenge. -

IF you were smart, you would stop showing your complete lack of knowledge on statistics and correlation/causation with every post. Its downright embarrassing. As you've been told many times before, shouting the same drivel over and over 1000 times doesnt make it any less wrong. -

You'll get the standard canned AKC response in that he wasnt interested in how the bad teams draft, only the good teams. According to AKC, the good teams draft only DL, and the bad teams that draft only DL (like the rams, texans, chiefs) dont count because he isnt concerned with the bad teams since they dont fit his ridiculous rant. -
If i'm reading this correctly; the rest of us are blind idiots for waiting to hear all the evidence and circumstances before we crucify the kid, but you are the clear and unclouded mind on the issue in assuming that the kid is a trouble maker and needs help because you think he pulled a gun on his dad.

Tallahassee isnt quite a hellhole yet. That terminology is reserved for the months of june, july, and august. Asbolutely miserable.

Of course. Think of the day you can take a lovely walk with your family. (just not from the months of october to may) As you step outside, you can show your kids the view of the new peace bridge going from buffalo to fort erie. You can then head out and take your kids on a walk to bass pro and buy them some gear. After a day of fishing with dad, then you can stop by the the new highrise downtown where you work in your high-paying professional job.

its cut and dry really. i mean, how many chances does this guy get? he has a violent history of beating and killing everyone close to him. I would not be shocked if he pulls a gun and/or shoots one of his teammates or coaches before his rookie season is done. Fuggin 2nd round pick down the drain.

what would you know, cop hater? Look at hardy's history. he beat his girlfriend, and then beat his infant son with the phone. i'm sure he's done this in the past as well, and has probably beaten other girlfriends and other infant children that he has. At the BBQ, he probably was going to kill his dad, his mom, and everyone else. If it wasnt for the heroic old 73 year old lady, there'd probably be upwards of 1500 dead in that neighborhood, all due to james hardy. He should be put where he belongs, in a cell with cedric benson. then they can talk about beating cops and beating and killing family members.

Now, i know a lot of you will get your panties all in a bunch, but how are people moving around within Buffalo (from the suburbs to a waterfront condo) going to stimulate buffalo's economy? Until outside revenue and companies are brought in, nothing is going to change.

Its more of a shame that AKC has to ruin a good discussion with his extremely childish antics. -

My statement was that a handful of WRs would be selected in rounds 1 AND 2 of the 2008 NFL draft. True or false. 10 WRs were selected between the 1st and 2nd rounds of the 2008 NFL draft. -
So if he was "beating up" his dad so bad, why would he need to pull his gun? All you need to say is that you dont have enough information on the topic to make an informed decision. But, apparently, AKC has lent you his entrenching tool, and you are hell bent on digging deeper.

I bet the jets are happy they drafted Dorsey Glenn, huh? Keep it up with the immature fist pounding fit, the rest of us are enjoying it. -
Well then, i suppose my co-workers in the lab should call the cops on me everyday, since i draw my knife on a daily basis. Sure i am only taking it out to open a package, but according to you, intention doesnt matter because i am drawing my knife and showing bad judgement and i obviously need counseling.

For someone who supposedly knows so much about the NFL, i'm shocked that you didnt realize that FS Thomas DeCoud was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons. Nowhere in this draft was any Decoud Thomas drafted by the Redskins. I have to admit something however. I find it highly amusing watching you throw a hissy fit like a 6 year old girl in this thread. -
But then you'd be wrong. Joe has told us plain as day that Hardy pulled the gun with intent to use it and needs serious counseling. And joe knows because the little 73 yr old lady saw a gun and called the cops and she obviously knew that Hardy was going to shoot his dad without question. Which is why no charges were filed and the police consider this a closed matter.

Hey, its my home too. 90% of my family lives there and its where i spent the first 21+ years of my life. I moved to florida 5 years ago to go to grad school. I bag on buffalo, because the city steps on its own dick every single time they try to get something done. They just cant get their sh-- together. I'm not making fun of the people that still live there, i am making fun of the city for its complete inability to turn itself around, and the mind numbing roadblocks preventing a lot fo these projects from being completed. Theres simply nothing to draw people to buffalo. And while a few waterfront condos will be nice and a good start, they arent just going to trigger an economic boom. The city has been "planning" sh-- for 15 odd years, and saying the same thing over and over. The next time they complete a successful project will be the first.

I'm not arguing about the altercation with his girlfriend. You claimed that Hardy assaulted his infant son. Wheres the proof of that?

[closed]James Hardy should be suspended by the NFL
Ramius replied to hamtenp's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
got it. so in the future, if you screw up and the cops are called, even if nothing comes form the incident, you are now on record as being perfectly ok if your work decides to send you home for a few weeks. -
Wait a minute. So now because his son was in the room when the altercation occurred, you are accusing him of smacking around his infant son? Funny, he was accused of the altercation with his girlfriend, but NOT of anything relating to his son. Or lets just believe exactly what the woman said on the phone. Because we all know that no woman ever lies or exaggerates events of the past/present during a fight.

You can also add the chiefs and rams to that list as well. Both of those teams have spent lots of high picks along the DL with little success.
