  1. Warrick Dunn is about the classiest player in NFL history...glad to know CJ wants to emulate him.
  2. How is the Marc Maron one? I have that one on my list but haven't listened yet. His called "WTF" or something like that, right?
  3. I'm not sure what to think about Donovan...sounds to me like the guy's heart isn't in it right now, in which case I'm happy to have him away from the team for the time being. He's still got some productive years left, but I trust Klinsmann's judgement. Interesting news about Holden. Friendly against the young, talented German squad will be very interesting!
  4. I had never heard of Patrice O'Neal prior to his appearance at a roast a while back...then I heard his stand-up routine and felt he was one of the best comics I'd ever heard. Hate the fact that both he and Greg Giraldo passed...two of the best talents on the scene, IMO.
  5. lol, I know that's right
  6. I feared the worst when you said her name was "Blanche", but wow, she's a keeper for sure! I'll have to check out that show...never knew there was one for the hotels. I agree about Taffer...he's got massive balls. It's pretty impressive the way he tricks out those bars...if only more of the owners weren't such fugtards! He sets them up for success, but I think still many of them eventually go under or get sold. I want one of those beer keg systems that keep the brews at 29 degrees...nothing like a cold frothy draft beer.
  7. We're definitely very similar in that regard...there's just something about the Fall where I just feel good, you know? I love the cooler weather (living in ATL), the changes in the trees, and of course the start of college and NFL ball. It just feels different than any other time of year...Sept and Oct are easily my two favorite months. You're going to love the coverage on NFL Network...I couldnt' be without it. I rarely even turn on ESPN anymore except for when there is a game I want to see. On the days I work from home I have NFLN on pretty much the entire 10 hr shift, and in the days leading up to and during the draft, I had the damn thing on for days at a time. I'd be lost without it! Good point...Im psyched for July too!

  9. We were lucky to grow up around that, man...and I completely agree about how it was so special when that MNF theme started playing...good times for sure!
  10. haha, I guess Im weird, cause I get really excited to see what the young kids are going to do...I love the preseason! Glad to know I'm not alone! I seem to always get fired up when it comes to player movement in general, whether it's free agency, the draft, etc. So the preseason sort of represents the "results" of all that hard work to bring talent in here...and I love seeing early signs of whether someone will be a player or a bust...not that it's an exact science, it's just interesting.
  11. I'm a fan of "binge viewing" in general, but there is NO greater rush than watching a season of 24 that way....I'll never forget when I did that with season one several years ago...I literally stayed up all night watching the first two DVDs (about 8 episodes)....good times! I envy anyone who has a season or two they haven't seen yet and can watch that way...what a blast
  12. If they ever teamed up, the bar/restaurant owner would just drop to the floor and curl up in the fetal position while asking for his mommy. That would be great tv! You guys mentioned Restaurant Impossible...I love the concept, but I get so tired of the "omg, we've only got 30min to open and we still have to do all sorts of sh*t!! We'll never get it done!!" It's not like there is some sort of REASON why they have to meet that timeline...they're the ones who imposed it in the first place lol. That being said, that one designer, Tanya Nayak (something like that) is one HOT Latina!!!! She could paint my walls any day.
  13. Both of those were very interesting interviews...honestly, this group of players we've brought in over the last several months is VERY interesting to me. Chances are only a few will work out, but it's been a long time since we had so many quality prospects with this sort of potential. I think the Duke Williams pick could really end up being a gem for us, cause he's the sort of player who could really flourish in Pettine's scheme. Shuler has been passed around like a VD, but sounds like he's really only seen the field very briefly for the Dolphins a couple years ago. Certainly has the football heritage with his father, who apparently was a Bills killer according to Murph, so will be interesting to see if he does anything for us at all. I just have a feeling this team is going to look COMPLETELY different this season...probably lots of young player mistakes, but also lots of high energy and aggression. I really am psyched for September! Hell, I'm psyched for AUGUST, actually....this will be one of the most intriguing preseasons in a very long time.
  14. I can probably see some of my friends saying that exact same thing...and Simmons makes a great point that I completely agree with. I have an older car that I'm still running into the ground before I replace it, so I just click on John's show on my iphone as I'm driving home and I listen with my open backed headphones so I can still hear everything goign on around me. I can't speak for android, but once you have all your shows added to the apple app, like you said, it's super easy to listen to...doesn't take any work at all other than clicking on the episode you want to listen to. I really hope this format continues to grow in popularity, cause I can see myself enjoying these for a long time to come. Im noticing that a LOT of colleges and universities are usign podcasts, which is a great tool for them to use. I wish I had that when I was in school!
  15. Oh wow, I just found a goldmine...I thought I'd see if they had anything related to my profession as an RN and I came across some pretty amazing ones. Then I found this webpage which has all sorts of other medical shows...this is amazing!! http://www.nursingschools.net/blog/2011/02/50-awesomely-educational-podcasts-for-nurses/
  16. DEFINITELY a game changer...that's a good term to use. Often times once I'm wound down and ready to chill out before bed, I dont really have the time to invest in a movie and it's hard to find anything of interest on tv. Now it doesn't even matter, cause I can turn out the lights, put on my favorite headphones (Beyerdynamic T1s), and enjoy a podcast before I doze off. Truly, I can't understand why these aren't more popular...so much to enjoy!! Also, I admit I'm a little biased toward Apple since I've had such great results with their products, but the podcast channel on AppleTV and the app on my iPhone just make it super easy to find stuff. Oh, another one I found that is pretty good is the Ross Tucker NFL cast...apparently it's a pretty popular show, and I like it cause it's pretty short (about 30 min) and you get a lot of interesting talk in a short amount of time. These NFL-related shows were fantastic around the draft time, so I can't wait to hear some of the discussions as we get closer to training camp and the start of the season.
  17. +1 This was a great episode...sometimes the show seems too much like all the others, but this one was great. That Amy chick was a window licker, but I bet she's a freak in the bed
  18. Right there with ya...in years past I'd see Wannstedt, or Chan, or JP/Fitz/Edwards, etc, etc interviewed and it would just cause me greater anxiety about the team. I often felt like I was having to force myself to be optimistic and to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Time after time, though, it never turned out to be daylight, but an oncoming train. It's TOTALLY different now. Since the first presser when Russ was given the reigns in a more official capacity, the decisions they've been making have just seemed smarter, better thought out, and they are resulting in quality additions and changes to this team. Doug Marrone seems to be a natural leader and he's clearly in complete control of this team. Pettine brings an attitude and a coaching heritage that is easy to get excited about, and I love the fact that we're hearing about an aggressive, disruptive defense that will allow our talent to be more fully utilized. Wannstedt clearly phoned it in last year and our defense vastly underachieved. I truly believe we could be a top ten unit THIS season, and it's going to be so much fun watching some of these young guys transform into difference makers. I'm also very confident in what Doug Whaley brings to the table, and I think he'll bring a winning attitude and solid decision making to the front office. I was barely hanging on in terms of interest by the end of last season...but I'm totally stoked for our 2013 renaissance!
  19. BBB and Ryan: You guys called it with Norm and Bill Burr...those were both GREAT! I can't believe how quick witted Norm is...he definitely has my sense of humor. He's already had me laughing aloud a few times and I've only listened to the Larry King one and the Kevin Nealon one. Bill Burr is someone I had heard OF, but never seen his show or heard his cast...I've only listened to last week's Monday Morning podcast, but it was a winner for sure. Really lovin' this...wish there was more time in the day to listen, though! I'm just glad that if I don't catch John Murphy on the way home from work, I can get it knocked out in about 75 min on the podcast since it's stripped down to take out the commercials. Who needs tv when you have this great entertainment! Can you talk a bit about each one and why you like it? I have so many on my list right now I'd love to pick your brain a bit more to get a feel for what each is all about
  20. Same here...some of my earliest Monday Night Football memories were when those Chargers teams played. I had a bed time of 9pm in the early 80s when I was around the same age as you....and I remember making a deal with my dad that as long as my grades stayed up and I promised to always get up on time Tuesday morning, I could stay up to watch the game. That was such a great feeling and I remember it like it was yesterday. Even though I wouldn't become a die hard fan of the NFL until I would move to Rochester a few years later, Monday Night Football was just great fun for me. Sixty is just too damn young to die, though...sorry to see him go at such an age. RIP, Chuck
  21. The mental images are great!
  22. I'm really bummed to hear that the "24" movie plans have been scrapped, but this will be a nice consolation prize. Welcome back, Jack!
  23. Whoa, I saw this headline earlier today and thought it was a joke. That's really some serious steps she took, but I totally understand why she did it. On the one hand, I lost my mother to breast cancer and I think it's great she's reduced her risk so dramatically. On the other hand, it's a shame that one of the best racks on earth is sitting in a medical waste bin as we speak! I still remember the first time I saw the film "Gia"....probably sales will go through the roof now.
  24. lol@sword cane You need a back-up cane that turns into nunchucks!
  25. That's exactly what I'd want my girlfriend/sister to do, as well...gun safety courses, practice at the range, valid permit, and pistols in the purse. One of my coworkers is even more hardcore...she has a riot gun under her pillow at night
