Thanks man...yeah, that's why I say I'm not focused on trying to eat healthy necessarily, it's just been nice to eat fresher, non-greasy, non-fried foods as of late. I was really hitting the fast food places pretty hard, mainly cause it was convenient and quick. But I just feel much better eating stuff from the grocery store. But yeah, your point is well taken...a lot of this stuff masquerades as "healthy" when it's anything but. You got it!

June Movies: Man of Steel, World War Z, & Monsters U....
ajzepp replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'm looking forward to this one for sure. I thought the first two were excellent. I love when actors can pull off a dialogue driven film that keeps you engaged throughout. As for Superman, the first few reviews I read were really positive. But somehow the film has dropped to a 57% (i.e. "rotten") rating on rotten tomatoes...seems that some consider it the best superhero film ever, while others have been pretty hard on it. Interesting! -
I'm not saying he's not a douche, cause I don't really care one way or the other...but I think it's pretty clear the supermarket was attempting to use this as a marketing effort, not some "gracious attempt to congratulate MJ". Give me a break. And what's with the first sentence, lol..." Years ago, Michael Jordan established himself as a dogged competitor that didn’t mind how many bridges he burned or feelings he hurt on his way to getting what he wants." I guess we pretty much know where this guy stands from the get-go

See that's the sort of gadget that I need so I don't blow up anything...that's why I love my Foreman. It's pretty hard to screw anything up on there. I don't know if any of you guys have Publix supermarkets near you, but their New York style tater salad is ridiculous...add a little salt and pepper and it's delicious. I've never been a tater salad guy at all, but this stuff is really great.

That trailer looks great! I wasn't all that excited about the Hobbit, and I dragged my feet on seeing it. When I did, though, I ended up really having fun with it, especially after the first 20 min or so, which I found a little slow. Once it got going it was very entertaining. Looking forward to the next one!

lol, that's awesome. Even though Im not doing it to lose weight (not yet, anyway) I just feel so much better eating better quality food. I'll take some fresh tater salad over fries, lean top sirloin with garlic/salt/pepper over a burger, and a nice bowl of sorbet over a frosty any day of the week. I'm not anti-fast food, of course, I just think I was way, wayyyy to involved with it for a while. There were days when I would have fast food for two out of three meals in a day...it's nearly completely lost it's appeal to me now. I could go for that for sure.

It took me many years, but I've finally discovered the grocery store. I have had fast food maybe once in the last three months - and egg mcmuffin on the way to work a few weeks ago. Not really dieting, just trying to get away from that stuff and eat better food. My roomie and I have a deal...she goes to the store for us and I give her my card to pay for it. Works great Crazy food like that T.Rex is fun to look at, but no way I'd ever order it...even when I was a fast food junkie.

Ah okay...well I listened to your pre-draft cast and you guys did a pretty good job. I like casts that exhibit candor, and yours fit the bill. Would have been cool if you had Tim Graham call into the show, though...a little back and forth would be great! Thanks Ryan and Gavin...added those to my list to check out. I don't know about you guys, but Im finding that some of the non-sports casts that still talk about sports are sometimes more entertaining that the sports casts....if that makes any sense

Man, Im still SO damn frustrated with the Nerdist and that Grizzly one...I keep getting hooked into the topic/guest list, only to find my mind wandering ten minutes in...I think I may need to unsub from both just to avoid the let down lol I've been enjoying Bill Burr's cast so much I checked www.instantwatcher.com to see if any of his stand up videos were on Netflix...I found a couple of them so I fired one up yesterday. I laughed SO hard that my stomach has been sore all day today. This guy is able to talk about pretty much any topic without crossing the line where it gets uncomfortable. He incorporates racial differences into his routine in a way that just has me rollin'...I'm really becoming a huge fan. Keep the suggestions coming, guys! I check out every single cast that is mentioned here...thanks so much for all the feedback!
-
You have any plans to increase the frequency of your casting? Seems like you've only had one this whole year? I thought it was a dead cast, so I didn't add it.

I will be listening to the interview with Ken Mastrole for sure...for some reason it seems like there has been zero EJ news lately...maybe just me? Either way, it'll be a good listen. Thanks 26!

Great crowd indeed...I have to imagine that Rochester would have developed a similar atmosphere if they had given them an MLS franchise. From what I understand, the Sounders are one of the strongest backed MLS teams in terms of fan support. Gotta love it! I agree about Panama playing sloppy...the game really should have been more like 4-0, cause I know we missed a couple of shots that were just slightly off. Dempsey had a very clever bounce shot that just missed the crossbar, and I think altidore or beasley or someone had a near miss just wide left. I know you and I have differing opinions on Donovan, but I really feel that they are playing more like a team without him there. I just don't get the impression that Landon is a "Klinsmann guy"...we can win without him. I was surprised to see Mexico draw with Costa Rica...Mexico hasn't been quite as dangerous as I expected given their talent.

Needs more head...special head.

Here's the Battlefield 4 footage. The water scene that I was so enamored with starts at 11:20, but the whole video is good. Also check out the 8:30 mark for some jets sliding off the deck of the ship...this is just very impressive to me.

Cameron playing really well...USA up 2-0! Let's go boys!!! Fans singing "we are going to Braziillllllll...."

Yeah, I think it's great to have different ways to structure compensation. With me though, I'm one of these guys who grew up with a love for sales. It's an art form, and the challenge of it was something that always drove me. Back in 1991 I was nationally ranked as a telemarketer because I got so into the challenge of the cold call that it fueled my motivation. Everyone hates telemarketers, and the same was certainly true back then, as well..but I didn't care about that. It was the same with serving. I loved to turn and burn tables of 2-4 and work the check average up. If my ability to impact my own income was taken away, the job would get very boring for me. Not that I wouldn't appreciate the stability of a salary, but it's just not what appeals to me about a job like that.

Definitely...anyone who is willing to hustle and take care of their customers can make a nice roll of cash by the time the week is out. And with great services comes regular customers who will request your station, which leads to even better tips. I loved being a server.
-
I think it's great that some places offer this sort of structure, but it would never have appealed to me back when I was a server. Part of the reason I loved my job was because of the sales aspect. Want to make more money? Learn how to upsell the check. Compel your customers into leaving a higher tip by providing them great service and exceeding expectations. I loved the idea that there was no fixed ceilign on what I coudl earn. When I was in my early 20s I worked at Tony Romas in Henrietta, NY and I could easily walk out of there with $200 on a Sunday. Add in $150 from either a Fri or Sat shift and maybe one weekday, and I had plenty of money to fund my Bills games, audio gear, and bar hopping expeditions. Only two or three of us were making that kind of money and that's the way I liked it.
-
I truly had no idea gaming PCs could do that...some of the graphics from that "Ryse: Son of Rome" game and the Battlefield 4 footage would be so epic on a projector that I'd never leave the room. Sometimes I will go on justin.tv and watch some of the gaming casts just to see what all is going on in that world, but nothing I've ever seen even came close to what I saw yesterday. I know a lot of younger folks take it for granted, but for those of us who started with something like Atari and have that sort of perspective on how far things have come, it's absolutely incredible. I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt

lol, dude, you know I'm your bro and all, but if you keep avoiding all these companies and products you're going to end up sitting in the middle of an empty room playing with a stick. What products out there DO you like? Oh, and go 'hawks!! LMAO...that was a keyboard wetter for me....thanks

I really like TJax as a player, and I'm sad to see the guy go...but hopefully, as others have said, this indicates that they really like what they see in our other three guys... Hopefully TJ gets picked up by a team outside the AFCE...

They're going to be pretty disappointed when they see a pudgy guy in his underwear sitting on the couch across from them....
-
Really? They made it a point several times during the show that it was actual game play on the xbox one...that's disappointing if it's not the case. I've never seen anything like that. Battlefield 4 had this water scene that will be realistic enough to induce vomiting on sensitive stomachs....it was beautiful.

Oh good, that's great news about Jozy...I think he's taking his game to another level here as of late. I hope he continues with his growth. He has a high ceiling.

So I'm working from home today and at 12:30 this show comes on Spike about the new Xbox 360 and Xbox One games coming out soon. They've been showing lots of actual game play footage and I have to say that I've never seen anything like this. I started off with the Atari 2600 back in the early 80s like a lot of you. I was heavily into the Sega Genesis and the Nintendo NES, but then I dropped out of the gaming world prior to the launch of the original PlayStation. I've dabbled a bit here and there, and started getting somewhat heavily into GTA IV on the Xbox 360, but that's about it. I'm very strongly considering picking up an Xbox One when it comes out in November ($499 is the reported price point). These games are absolutely stunning looking! I can't post Youtube clips while I'm working, so if anyone sees any, please post away.
