  1. I think you may have missed the joke?
  2. You're an... Tom?
  3. Actually I think it was to take the pressure of of McD should the players revolt over jettisoning the best talent on the roster on the eve of the season. Finally some teachers who will maximize the talent on hand while demanding accountability and not forcing square players into round schemes.
  4. No, it's because NFL front office execs know a lot more about football than the fools on this message board.
  5. If a fantasy/expansion draft were held today and all of the players in the NFL were in the pool, Luck would be a top five pick - zero question.
  6. Really? Folks are down on Andrew Luck? I'm starting to think that a good portion of the posters here don't even watch football.
  7. I think you're right about this. Josh Rosen ain't ruining his brand by coming to Buffalo.
  8. He ran out of bounds once against the Dolphins, so... Bills fans might just be morons.
  9. The irony of a guy named "Luck" avoiding the draft and causing the Bills to lose out on Cam - it kills me. The Bills ran out of Luck AGAIN.
  10. For someone who treats this board as his own personal conversation, replying to nearly every post and cluttering up the board with hundreds of new posts every day, how did you manage to miss a thread already directed to this very topic? https://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/195350-does-anyone-believe-gm-beane-about-preseason-game/
  11. They were in on Tyson Clabo in July. What are we doing here?
  12. Lawyer Malloy - it's in the first page of this thread!
  13. March, but so what? And Boldin isn't a high profile free agent.
  14. Terrell Owens was far more high-profile than Boldin, who had no other offers.
  15. Putting aside the structure, isn't one of the similarities the notion that star players are expendable, culture trumps talent, and holes should be plugged through the draft? I thought that was one of the premises.
  16. Good points. In McD's first draft, he squandered draft capital and plugged holes. It's concerning.
  17. Pettine's defense was not fundamentally sound, which bugged me. They were able to tackle QBs, but no one else.
  18. Again though, isn't the fact that Pegula has invested in an actual front office a key difference this time around? I know Modrak had a decent enough reputation (although I recall it being discussed that he over-relied on BLESTO reports) but the group they brought in this year - paying big money to steal them away from the Chiefs, Texans, etc. - seems far more qualified than anything we've seen around here in a couple of decades. I'm hoping so, at least... and I echo Bandit's point about hoping for an analytical approach to the draft, instead of a hole-plugging strategy...
  19. I'm more concerned about the vanilla offense, Gunner.
  20. One "difference" between the two regimes is the purported quality of the scouting and personnel staff brought in this offseason. Hopefully that gets this crew over the constant 7-9 hump. Plus they'll get "lucky" with Father Time in a couple of years - Brady can't do this forever. But I look forward to reviving this thread during the season because I have a strong suspicion that many folks around here don't fully realize just how boring this team is going to look this season. Lots of four fieldgoal performances and "heartbreaking" bend-don't-break-then-finally-break losses that McD chalks up to "character building" and "learning how to win" and "showing good compete." By November, I fear that this comparison will be oft-cited on this board and in the local media.
  21. 17 years, fam.
  22. Money relative to other positions perhaps. They probably don't believe in paying a WR that high a percentage of the team's overall cap. I don't necessarily agree with such a rigid approach, but it might be where they're coming from.
