  1. Kerry places too much importance on what the UN, France, Germany, and Russia think the US should do to defend itself. We should do whatever the hell WE think we need to do. If other organizations and countries agree and help, great; if they don't, too bad! Kerry thinks it makes sense to try terrorists in courts rather than simply kill them on the battlefield. I don't agree with Kerry on this. Kerry is for whatever he thinks is politically expedient at the time - for the war when Dean was still in and against the war. Against the war when it was only him & GWB and GWB is obviously for the war. Even when GWB has different opinions about something, it is usually not 180 degrees different than last month and then back again next month. In front of the right audience or at the right time, he does so say we should get out of Iraq or not be there in the first place. When he thinks nobody is listening or they won't remember, he admits we should spend billions more, as much as it takes, to be successful in Iraq. There are other non-war reasons I would never vote for John Kerry.
  2. Forget about the other junk; but has anybody investigated whether the thing about "tax freedom day" being April 11 under GWB and some time in May under Clinton is true or not?
  3. I had my political lawn signs stolen today...
  4. http://www.krzyzanowski.com/politics/What_I_Believe.htm Liberal vs. Conservative - What I Believe! I believe that the federal government should spend more time & money defending our country than it should spend on free hand outs to the complacent. Liberals have always been opposed to defense & military build up and have always been for spending more and more and more on social programs (some that work, but even those that don't work) with no checks on abuse. [rest deleted due to copywrite violation] There will be more terrorists attacks in this country - whether or not we proceed with this war against Iraq. What you see on the news today with homicide bombings in Israel will happen in our children's lifetime in this country - whether or not we proceed with this war against Iraq. Citizens of other countries will always have groups of them who hate Americans - whether or not we proceed with this war against Iraq. I don't lie. I am right more often than I am wrong. I have said before that I and my heroes can never live up to my ideal, and those who oppose my beliefs use that against us. And it's true.
  5. because... 1) he is right on taxes 2) he is right on the "War on Terror" 3) he is right on abortion 4) he is right on the economy 5) he is right on the definition of "marriage" 6) he is right on preventing activist judges 7) HE IS RIGHT !!!
  6. Even if bin Laden is caught, that will NOT mean the end to the "War on Terror"!
  7. You all know I am for GWB... Here is one thing from each candidate that annoyed me... When GWB said multiple times about Kerry saying "Wrong war, wrong place, & wrong time..." and Kerry having multiple positions on every subject. When Kerry said "I've always had only one position on Iraq". To me there was NO clear winner and there was NO clear loser.
  8. Since GWB is not a lemming he will sometimes make decisions that bother radical conservatives. GWB is not a liar. I do not blindly agree with everything he says & does. But, I do support many, many of the exact same things that GWB supports. And I am not for many, many of the things that Kerry is for. But, I guess I'm just a liberal liar and a lemming.
  9. This is not true. Even in the cases where the leaders don't "DO" the party line, we are still better off than going with the other party simply because of what the other party says they will "DO".
  10. There were ads for online purchases of Vicadin on the Rush Limbaugh story last year.
  11. The question needs to be re-worded... Are you FOR or AGAINST abortion? Yes - of course I am either for abortion or against abortion. I happen to be against abortion. However, this is one of those not black & white issues. Are you for abortion in the case where the mother's life is at risk? Are you for abortion in the case of incest? Are you for abortion in the case of rape? Are you for abortion in the case of developmental deformity? Are you for abortion in the case of financial distress? Are you for abortion in the case of parental disownership? Are you for abortion in the case of mental distress? Are you for abortion in any and all cases? Me => Yes, No, No, Depends, Absolutely Not, No, No, NO !!!
  12. If you must group people, then there are at least six groups. Because there are those who are NOT lemmings and who also know their candidate is NOT an idiot. This is not an election where all we have to choose from is the lesser of two evils. There are many threads where I already enumerated the reasons I will vote FOR GWB and none of the reasons make me a lemming. And just because I'm voting for the guy who holds positions and values that I agree with does not make me an extremist.
  13. If we did that, then in 2030 when that military leader is found to be responsible for attacking American soil, the Republican president will have defend why it was right to back such a military leader in 2004-05 because of the circumstances at that time; but that does not mean that we are still supportive of such a person or responsible for how that person turned out. Also, the current president would be blamed for losing a war that we are actually winning. And the millions of Iraqis who still want us there to help enforce "peace" would again blame us for abandoning them.
  14. Would it be fair to say that the CBS memogate is to the Republicans & Conservatives as the War in Iraq is to the Democrats & Liberals? Or is it unfair to say that memogate rises to the seriousness of the war? The Democrats & Liberals say: Bush Lied, Bush was misled by faulty intelligence, Bush rushed to war, Bush mishandled the aftermath of the war... The Republicans & Conservatives say: Rather Lied, Rather was misled by a deceitful source, Rather hates Bush so much he'd do anything to make him look bad, Rather & CBS are still trying to spin this as fake documents don't matter... How many of us on the right think that there is no way that GWB lied about the war, but was swayed by inaccurate evidence? While at the same time we think it is conceivable that Rather hates GWB so much he'd go with unverified evidence and he should be punished for not knowing better? How many of you on the left think that the possible veracity or content of the memos outweighs any possibility that they are fake? While at the same time you think that even though ousting Hussein is a good thing, the fact that no WMDs have been found yet makes it an "illegal" war?
  15. Signature fixed... What does it have to do with Kerry holding a device he would have banned and acceping it as a gift which would have been illegal had his bill passed? Jim Shiz
  16. KERRY COSPONSORED BILL BANNING GUN HE WAVES <snip> Kerry co-sponsored S. 1431 <snip> which would have banned a "semiautomatic shotgun that has a pistol grip.” Opponents of the bill successfully argued how nearly all guns have "pistol grips," inluding millions of Browning Auto-5 shotguns produced since 1903. <snip> Kerry was presented with the gun during a Labor Day stop in Racine, West Virginia. "I thank you for the gift, but I can't take it to the debate with me," Kerry told a cheering crowd as he held up the device. [Kerry's gun bill would also ban any "gift" transaction. It is not clear if Kerry submitted to a waiting period and completed the required paperwork (a 4479 form) or Brady background check before he claimed the gun. Also, since the Gun Control Act of 1968 was passed, it has been illegal for an unlicensed individual (a non-dealer, non-collector, non-manufacturer, etc.) to obtain a firearm in a state in which you are not a legal resident.] XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX TUE SEPT 07, 2004 11:46:05 ET XXXXX http://www.drudgereport.com/dncg.htm

  21. That was disgusting and pretty offensive to this Christian. MoveOn thinks Bush is Hitler. A.N.S.W.E.R. thinks Bush is worse than Hussein. You think Bush is Barabas. Just a metaphore I guess. 24. July 17th, 2004 Dear MoveOn member, Usually we ask you to take an action, but today we’d like to take just a moment to reflect on where we’ve come together, and to take some measure of the impact of our efforts. In just a little over a week, the Democratic convention will begin. The Democratic nominee, John Kerry, will finally get a chance to be heard directly by the American people, and the fight for the future of America will begin in earnest. We knew from the very start that the Bush administration and the right wing would pull out all the stops to discredit the Democratic nominee before he even appeared at the convention. They put everything they had into it, every dollar and every conceivable misleading ad, and they failed, surprising all the pundits and political operators. We now are facing a real contest – a real chance for change. And we should all take a moment to appreciate this victory. With your incredible support, the efforts of the MoveOn.org Voter Fund have been a big part of this victory. This is not a partisan victory. It is a victory for truth and accountability over distortion. We’ve leveled the playing field so that opponents of administration policy have a fair chance in this election. Starting last October, over 160,000 MoveOn members gave more than $10 MILLION (!) to the Voter Fund to develop and run ads in battleground states telling the truth about the Bush administration. We’ve reached millions of people with these messages and helped shift the opinions the hundreds of thousands, on George Bush, and on the key issues we face. Below I’ve attached a report, with some hard figures, that shows how important this continuous drumbeat has been. With ads on health care, the Iraq war and on American priorities – some produced by MoveOn members themselves – we’ve kept the voice of the opposition strong and clear. What’s most exciting about this victory is that it represents a sea change in how politics is done. Who would have guessed that small contributions would become more important than the big ones? Who would have guessed than an organization like the MoveOn.org Voter Fund, driven by 2.4 million MoveOn members, would set the pace in addressing the key issues in this election? Thank you for being a part of changing the way politics is done. Sincerely, --Wes Boyd and the MoveOn Voter Fund team July 17th, 2004 August 31, 2004 Dear MoveOn member, After four days of the Republican convention, national polls will likely find President Bush in the lead in the race for the White House. The Bush campaign is banking on using this so-called bounce to claim an early victory. Of course, this bounce business is a mind game. Polls measure how the nation feels at a given time, but they’re terrible at measuring who’s going to actually get out and vote in battleground states. And when you look at those numbers, this is our race to lose. So while Karl Rove tries to psych us out with poll numbers next week, we’re going to maintain a laser focus on one critically important task: getting our people to the polls through our ambitious Leave No Voter Behind field program. And our success in that depends on you. Just because you live outside the battleground states doesn’t mean you have to sit this election out. The best way you can help is by adopting a battleground-state neighborhood as a Precinct Partner. You can call swing state voters to talk about the issues, take day trips there to knock on doors, even spend Election Day in one of the key neighborhoods where the race will be decided, getting Kerry voters to the polls. No matter where you live, you have an important role to play. Here's why the hype that Bush is winning doesn't stand up to scrutiny: Nation-wide polls don't matter. This election will be decided in the 20 or so states that aren't firmly in Bush's camp. So while most national polls--which include voters in Texas and California--show a dead heat between Bush and Kerry, polls of the so-called "battleground states" tell a different story. A bipartisan poll from NPR1 has Kerry leading 52-43% in these states, and Fox News2 reports a 47-37% Kerry lead there. Historically speaking, Bush is in a very weak position. Most experts agree that when a president is seeking re-election, most voters first decide whether he deserves re-election, and then look at the challenger. And most voters aren't liking what they see: Bush's approval rating is very low for an incumbent. Even more importantly, in some recent polls a large portion of voters say the country is on the wrong track, a benchmark that is extremely tough to recover from. Bush is not where he needs to be, and even a significant bounce won’t put him there. In the swing states, the name of the game is turnout. There are literally millions of people who prefer Kerry to Bush but who are unlikely to vote at all. In fact, there are far more of these folks than there are "swing voters" who haven’t made up their minds yet. Experts on both sides agree that the winner on November 2 will be the candidate who gets his base out in the places where it matters. And it's pretty straightforward to get their attention: we'll call them on the phone, knock on their doors, and invite them to neighborhood house parties. We'll listen to their concerns and talk to them about both candidates' positions on the issues. And we'll remind them repeatedly to show up on Election Day. We've now got 60 paid organizers on this campaign, by next week we'll have more than 100, and two weeks from tomorrow we'll have 400 more. But our ultimate success depends on you: talking to millions of voters takes tens of thousands of volunteers, and we're counting on you to be among them. We must not fool ourselves into thinking this race is all wrapped up. But we also can't believe the hype when the Bush team tries to claim the same. The bottom line: This race is in your hands. We hope you can help. Thank you. Sincerely, --Adam, Eli, Hannah, James, Laura, and the whole MoveOn PAC Team August 31, 2004
