  1. That's less of a judgement call than PI which is why I think it can be challenged. It's pretty clear from replay to see if a guy is on the field or not when the ball is snapped.

I understand the objective nature being the reason it's allowed. The reason I brought it up was there were a few posts about not being able to challenge a penalty ... I just wanted to say, 'yes, you can' and highlight how inconsequential it often is compared to holding or PI.

  2.

To me, this was never more obvious than in the JETS game. People piled on the Defense, but failed to recognize the sheer enormity of Time of Possession which has a cumulative effect on the Defense when the Offense can't provide not only a breather, but an ability to gather themselves and make adjustments.

I just think back to the first Jet possession. We had them stored on 3rd, but for a phantom penalty. Fitz was running for his life. IIRC, a fumble or two that they recovered. There seemed to be one flukey big gain, plus the penalty on third ... And we lost the edge.

  3. That leads to another question. The few times that I've heard the refs say that another penalty will lead to an ejection, it's always been about taunting after the play. Why wouldn't they do the same after vicious late hits and unnecessary roughing penalties? If they really are concerned about safety. Nope, but throw a ball at another player twice and you're ejected ,.. doesn't make sense.

  4. This is a great place to be. We are full time in Port au Prince and will be working primarily as a link between Haitian churches and North American teams add they seek to serve and partner here.

As long as I'm not breaking forum rules ... Here is where you can go for more about our organization and to support us.

  5. Our family moved to Haiti in September to serve as missionaries for the next three (at least) years. We've had a good adjustment as we learn Kreyol and invest in the people. However, today we head to a small community in the central passion for a two week immersion experience to speed up the process of language and culture acquisition. We will have latrines, outdoor showers, no electricity and no personal vehicle. We'd appreciate your prayers as this is a tough prospect. It's like primitive camping in a sauna.

I'll check this thread when we get back and, if there's interest, I post some of the pictures.

    Go Bills and Sabres!

  6. So I'm moving to Haiti this fall as a missionary and we are scaling down the things that we have in the house. Some of those things include Pro! & GameDay programs from late 70s to the early 90s as listed below. Basically, I want to give them to people who want them ... if that's you, let me know. I understand this may get moved to another forum, but wanted to get some response on the wall. I should also specify they are all Bills programs from Rich Stadium.

    Programs that I have are:

November 18, 1979 vs. Packers (No Cover)

August 9, 1980 vs. Eagles (Montgomery Cover)

November 2, 1980 vs. Falcons (Falcons on Cover)

Super Bowl XV (Philly vs. Oakland)

August 15, 1981 vs. Browns (Hall of Fame Class of 1981 Cover)

November 22, 1981 vs. Patriots (No Cover ... Fergy Hail Mary to Roland Hooks game)

September 12, 1983 vs. Chiefs (No Cover)

October 21, 1984 vs. Broncos (Jack Lambert Cover)

September 21, 1986 vs. Cardinals (Leonard Smith Cover w/Cards)

August 13, 1990 vs. Giants (Hall of Fame Class of 1990 Cover)

December 22, 1991 vs. Lions (Chris Spielman w/Lions Cover)

November 20, 1994 vs. Packers (Reggie White Cover)

  7. That's the other thing, too...they keep feeding the beast. If it's such a non-issue, why do you keep having press conferences on it?

Exactly ... they aren't making it go away AT ALL ... they are making it worse. And as much as I want them all to resign and go away, BB is way too smart to be getting everyone to pursue this without wanting us to.

  8. My initial reaction to the issue when it came out early in the week was that this was relatively inconsequential to the game that happened and that it is simply a misdirection away from another area that they are cheating in. The way that they have mishandled the press conferences and PR in the days following leads me to reaffirm that belief. They could have come clean in certain ways that didn't leave any sense of question as to their motives, but instead they continue to throw out phrases that keep everyone on their tail ... on this subject. This would keep the attention from whatever else they may be trying to do.

I know ... I should probably be wearing a tin foil hat, but since my initial gut reaction has been confirmed by what I see ...

  9. Hmmm ... A poster with only three posts, starting at least two threads, both with links to questionably written articles?

My first and last clue was the shortened URL with wp.me in the address. The dude is just linking to his own Wordpress blog.

EDIT: all three posts started threads, all pointing to Wordpress blog. I won't even click given I can tell the content from the threads. Stop giving him free advertising ... And bonus traffic.

  10. Probably the most ridiculous part of this story is the follow-up article announcing that the principal has retired with full bennies.

In all seriousness, what I genuinely don't understand is how can the parents of 240 kids be so silenced on this? As soon as our son comes home, we review his school work and homework and he gets to work on the latter. He's in third grade and every day has upwards of two to three hours of homework, studying, reading, etc that has to be done and signed off by us before he returns the next day. If he ever came home and said "We just watched movies all day," it's impossible to grasp how we would respond.

I just don't get how this could go on for as long as it does. Is it like this in all the inner-city schools in NYC?

If my kids came home with 2-3 hours of homework at that age, I would question if anything were done at school, too. More often than not, poor teachers are resorting to simply assigning work instead of teaching.
