The Pats defense is a bend but not break defense that tightens up inside the red zone as it looks to cause turnovers and keep the opposition to FG's instead of TD's.
Last night was a PERFECT example of how the Pats defense works. It gave up a ton of yardage between the 20's yet it caused critical turnovers at key times which stopped scoring drives. This is exactly how the Pats defense is designed to operate and function. it's why yardage stats in the NFL is the worst indicator of how well or bad a team is.
The Pats gave up 24 points to an absolutely loaded Colts team last night and won the game by 3. Against most other offenses, the Pats defense keeps the score down into the teens. Most days and nights, the Pats offense is good enough to put up 20 points. Thus they win, and usually only by a few points.
That's the way the Pats team is designed. It's been happening like this for several years now and will continue to be like this for as long as Belichick operates the team. They won't generally blow anyone out and they will rarely dominate. They will just win football games in every way possible.
It seems that it isn't that different from the Walt Corry days in early 90s in Buffalo. Frustrating to see teams march up and down the field, but still make the plays when they needed to happen.

The deep throw should have been knocked down by Nick Harper. Indy's DBs were a step or more away from almost every throw last night.

all in all, without paying, your best option is following the game in the NFL.com gamecenter. Not always accurate, or fast, but it beats reading about it the next day.

I know we were disappointed in not seeing Lee used much in Preseason, but I'm ready to see it now. That underthrow by Travis Brown in the 3rd game would have been a bomb of a TD, Evans had beaten his man by 5-10 yards.
Just a matter of time. Don't waste him on Kickoffs

as much as I like to take credit for the bogus report, I don't want to.
It was really well done, fooled me big time, and I rushed to post it here because I wanted to be the first so I wouldn't get flamed for being second ("didn't you see the other post" "check before you post" etc.)
My mistake, but I'm glad others got fooled too -- especially if it was on the air. Internet mistakes are one thing, but on the radio too? wow.
Next time I link to a bogus article, I'll make sure it leads right to pixyland!

You guys do a great job.
Again, sorry to those I upset and sent into a panic.

Cool, I didn't think I actually did this.
Oh nuts, I have us going 12-4

wow, Fezmid hasn't touched this one yet? Amazing
Go DirecTV. I started with Dish back in 95ish. Got the big run around from their service dept. Switched to DirecTV and never had a problem since (about 97)

I went to make my picks last week, clicked the Football Pool link at the top of twobillsdrive.com, and was taken to a page for setting up new pickem contests, rather than the login for our contest. I figured it was temporarily down...came back later, same thing, and so on. Just today I realized that the link was wrong, and the correct one is at the top of the TBD forum page in your permalink section. I wonder if others have tripped on this as well...
Anyway, I made my picks but I can't pick the Colts/Indy game cuz I missed it by a day. Why not extend it till Wednesday morning or even Wed. evening? Late people, or those who tripped on the other link, are going to have a 1-game disadvantage...and we can't have that, can we?
No pre-sunday games are included in the picks, I believe. All Season
Correct me if I'm wrong someone.

Beating the Rams in OT back in the early 80s? When the guys came out after the game and danced in big circles on the field? That was during Talking Proud years.
Buffalo's got the spirit.
One problem with the Shout song is that too many teams used it or have used it. Talking Proud was always specific to Buffalo.

Question:
What do you do when the star of your fantasy team is playing the Bills? Don't you sometimes get into a conflict of interest?
Case in point, I watched Super Bowl XXV in a bar in Niagara Falls. The bar had one of the super bowl squares for $100.00 a square.
As Norwood lined up for that fateful kick, one guy stood off to the side of the bar looking squemish. Someone said, "What's wrong with you?" I'll never forget when the guy answered, "I've got the 0-9 square. If he makes the kick I lose $5,000. I'm gonna be sick."
When the kick sailed wide right, there were about 50 guys in that bar ready to beat that guy's a$$. He left without the money and came back for it the next day.
I realize that this is an extreme example, but I wouldn't want my league championship riding on a guy scoring a TD that puts the Bills out of the playoffs.
Actually, I love to lose if it means that the Bills won. It's not much of a consolation, but the flipside of that is that if the Bills lose you can feel like a smart GM for playing someone against the Bills. It really stinks when you think the Bills are gonna stuff _______________, so you bench him for the week. Then you watch the game and he has 150 yds rushing, 8 rec for 87 yds and 3 TDs. Then it's a lose-lose situation.
