About 1974, Monday night game @ Rich against the Raiders, Bills down by 11 with 4-5 minutes left. My Dad, who always had to leave early every where to beat traffic, says "lets go". We are just outside the gates when we hear a crowd roar, the Bills are coming back. Score 2 TD's in that time and win by 3. We are in the parking lot. I want to say both TD's went to Ahmad Rashad, but that is just a guess. To this day, I stay at every game until the the clock says 00:00, win or lose
I was at the BUF/NE game in early 80s when Fergy threw the Hail Mary / Big Ben play that Hooks caught. Unfortunately, my dad also said "Let's Go" a few minutes before. We stood just outside in the parking lot when we heard the roar of the crowd, followed by "Here's the replay on the scoreboard." And there in Black and Amber for all the world to see -- the reason I never leave ANY game early, not pro, college or HS. I even stay all the way through my son's TBall games that don't keep score (although that's for a different, good-father reason). We have never let my father live that game down.

Is ICE back? This Playfair guy (not the Sabre, but the username) sounds frighteningly like ICE

right, I just brought it up because some guy on Countdown last night said that Strength of VICTORY would become a household word in the next week and that the Bills would probably get in because of it -- if we win out. We just need to take care of business and hope to get help. If we get all that help this week, we control our own destiny.
-
I just did a quick run down of strength of victory for the four teams tied for the 6th spot in the AFC.
Currently, the wins by opponents that each team has beaten is:
Buffalo 58
Denver 63
Jax 71
Balt 71
This assuming each of the four win out and no new victories by any already beaten opponents. Right now, it doesn't look like we have a chance in any strength of victory scenario like they said on Countdown last night -- if only strength of victory meant how badly you beat teams when you did win, then we would be front runners as none of the other three teams have dominated any victories like we have for five weeks.
This being said, our best chance is STILL the other three losing at least one game and / or the Jests losing both.

check out the picks in the football pool
BOTH OF THEM PICKED MIAMI
and the rest of their games the same
and the tiebreaker, correctly, at 57
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

This also helps our cause in terms of strength of victory which the broadcast talked about tonight. Every win that a team that we beat puts in helps us later. We get a double bonus because Miami counts for two wins in that case.

Slightly off topic:
Yahoo won't let me drop TO in my fantasy football playoffs -- I need a replacement.
EDIT: Man, you air a grievance and it is heard. I just dropped TO!

Was Miami's win a total fluke or did they expose a problem in the Paytoilet's armor?
Is there any kind of a blueprint? It's not exactly everyday that a 2-11 beats a 12-1.
Anyone have any thoughts? I'm sure everyone around the league is talking about it.

you said "good" and "niners" in the same sentence

Exactly - the punt block was the result of a great individual play. Spikes interception - the product of a great rush. Kelsay's interception - we tipped the pass. Johnson's fumble - a great hit. Did you see an INT like the one Favre threw - a gift? Did you see a Cinci runner just drop a ball? While some turnovers are gifts, I didn't see any yesterday.
I actually started yelling at the TV when Clements stripped Johnson of the ball, because before I saw the ball loose, I thought that NC needed to tackle Johnson, not go for the ball. First priority is to get him down. Still, a great play. That's why I watch and he plays.

Let's talk about the mid80s when we got 25000 in Rich ...
No one pays big bucks for tickets when the team stinks -- that has no reflection on the dedication of the fan base.

No way Jax loses to Houston at home OR away at Oakland!
They finish 10 and 6 and have the tie breaker over us!
That first game cost us our season.
The owrst part about it is that Jax is a team of SCUMBAGS for that hit!
Jack Del Rio should be fired for laughing over the hit on the sidelines. Did you guys see that?

Judging by the username, you probably want the Bills out so JP can play
Go root for Joe Dufek instead

Voting ended Friday, I believe, it's too late

How can the RedSox rotation be getting younger when they signed David Wells? Sorry, I'm not a baseball fan, but that just doesn't make sense.

Get over it already...
f-cking A, I was one of his biggest bashers, but what he has done (no, not IN SPITE of Drew, but what HE has done) is WIN.
Why does everyone like Roethlisberger? Because he puts up HUGE numbers? No. Because he wins.
Get off of Drew's case.
He took criticism that would make most men quit and has turned this ship around.
Go Drew.
Go Bills!
Here, here, as one who has supported Bledsoe most of the time and couldn't stand all the posts, thank you Steve for being more honest and true blue than most on this board.
Everyone just needs to get off the boat that somehow tells yourself that you know more than anyone else, sit back and enjoy the ride. It should be a fun few weeks.

It was on CBS. I wondered what was said in the exchange. Thanks

If we end up being tied with the Jests, I seems that most likely we win the tiebreaker.
According to NFL Tiebreaking Rules, you break the tie within the division first, even if it is a 3 or more way tie among wildcard teams from differing divisions.
The division tiebreak goes
1. Head to head -- push
2. Divisional Record -- push -- if NY loses to NE as one of their 2 or 3 losses.
3. Record vs common opponents
We have 8 opponents in common outside the division. Currently, the Jests stand at 4-2, still to play home vs. Seattle and @ StLouis. Our record is 4-1, still to play @ Cin, @ SF, home vs. Pit. I think our chances are of going 2-1 are at least as good, probably better than, as NY going 1-1. StLouis is banged up, but at home are still dangerous. Seattle and StLouis are still playing for the division title -- sad as that may be. If the tie break process gets beyond this, NY wins based on conference record.
All that being said, we still need to run the table. Focus on beating Cinci.

So is LaCrosse. I'm waiting for Lax to take over as a somewhat major sport. That's fun to play and watch.
