  1. Soft disclosure. It's going to be a thing.
  2. If their LT #79 doesn't get a holding call for grabbing and flinging the pash rusher to the ground, there's nothing they can possibly do to get a flag, probably even murder.
  3. Just give it to em
  4. Did you see what Hutchinson did to the tackle on that last play? Two spin moves, and just for good measure clubbed him to the turf with a spinning back fist. Spencer would have to hold every play. Yikes.
  5. Mahomes stared at Grey that whole route. Oh yuk.
  6. Yeah that's what I say on the #1 tee box. And then like Detroit the second one goes right down the middle.
  7. Coach Campbell giving zero Frenchy Fuquas.
  8. They went through the trouble of having her clone do the sign language. Spare no expense.
  9. Oh please get this on the bulletin board: "MJD, is Aaron Rodgers the best quarterback in the AFC East?" MJD: "No question! No question!"
  10. The Paula's mention reminded me I'm hundreds of miles away from a glazed sour cream, and filled me with murderous rage.
  11. And you know that because…?
  12. Give it a minute, I’m pretty banged up, it’s Saturday morning and the sun is about 14 times brighter than it ought to be
  13. Something that Steenbergen didn’t - blocking and catching. Happy to see Ankou came back. Was worried after he outplayed Poona Ford by a vast margin and got cut anyway. He had a great preseason. Must have been a strategic decision by the brain trust to try to keep both. He was JAG - before his Achilles injury. That seemed to have cost him all ability to anchor against a power rush, his preseason tape for pass protection was a horror show, and the run blocking wasn’t in the same league of guys like Edwards, Anderson or Broeker either.
  14. Dropping Anderson for a recycled backup is the kind of mistake an also-ran franchise make and that the Bills made for the entirety of the 21st century prior to this regime. I don't believe they kept him through the initial 53 just to cut him now. He'll never clear waivers with the tape he laid down this preseason and some team will get a 10-year player for even less than the Browns got Teller for. Ankou has been with the team for about 2 years longer than Poona. I don't the playbook is the problem. Ankou ranged from disruptive to dominant in a large percentage of his reps, Poona was the weak link for most of his. Unless what they looking for from Poona is getting blocked easily by a guard?
  15. I am disappointed they kept Poona over Ankou who outplayed him by a wide margin.
  16. No.
  17. It didn't come, it doesn't matter...
  18. I'd hope for a 5th for Boogie and a 7th since between him and AJE, a) Boogie played better in preseason, and b) he has an additional year of team control.
  19. Bills have more depth at G than they can keep already.
  20. Second half: 1st Offense Series : 77-65-62-70-74 ------------------ 1st & 10) Run right, Mancz and Anderson clear a path. 2nd & 5) Play action left, roll back right to Shorter on a comeback route for the drop. 3rd & 5) Incomplete short to TE. Van Demark and Anderson were both getting pushed by power moves. 1st Defense Series : 55-99-98-57 ------------------ 1st & 10) Settle again gets instant push up the middle to force a scramble. 2nd & 8) Run right, Settle penetrates and disrupts. 3rd & 7) SACK Basham wins with upfield power while Settle swam the guards arms, QB didn't have a chance. Big series for Settle. 2nd Offense Series : 77-65-62-70-74 ------------------ 1st & 10) Trying to set a screen but it's not there, Allen dirts it. Everyone was "beat" i.e. turning their guy loose to get downfield. 2nd & 10) Run to the middle. Anderson & Boettger release to the second level. Van Demark's man gets inside leverage and makes the stop. 3rd & 6) Slant is defended. Boettger looked lost, Anderson and Van Demark with good protection. 2nd Defense Series : 96-94-61-59 ------------------ 1st & 10) End around for big yards. Cline stays home, even after the runner is by, lol. 1st & 10) Reverse for big yards to Jonathan's side. 2nd & 1) Quick hitch right for the 1st. DJ Jazzy Dale looked to be getting push. 1st & 10) Handoff middle gets gobbled by CB and LB. Broughton was stout on the double team at point of attack. 2nd & 11) Rollout right broken up by Lewis stick. Cline was tackled in space. 3rd & 11) Cline gets close with a spin move. Broughton forced the QB off the spot with the bull rush. 1st & 10) Handoff, Klein fills a big hole between Cline & Broughton. 2nd & 6) Handoff, Cline could have made the stop but poor tackle. 1st & 10) Run off right tackle, Cline blocked by Klein comes through. 96-51-94-59 2nd & 7) Run to the middle, Jonathan shoots past the double team for the stop. That's a good flash play. Ankou unfortunately destroys the RG's leg while driving him back. 96-93-94-59 3rd & 8) Jonathan showing that Von move on the rush, with speed and bend and draws the hold. 2 plus plays in a row. 3rd & 18) Screen left as Bills run a stunt, Broughton minimizes the gain. 4th & 15) FIELD GOAL 3rd Offense Series : 77-65-62-70-74 ------------------ 1st & 10) Run left, Quess & Boettger don't really get any movement. 2nd & 10) Allen misses Shorter, Van Demark anchors well against inside power move. 3rd & 10) Allen to KeeSean short to line to gain. Quess recovers to anchor against a bull rush. 4th & 1) Line blocks down right and run goes left behind. Good blocks from Boettger & the TE. 1st & 10) Beautiful blocked Johnson run up the middle. Mancz & Van Demark seal the hole, both guards fire and blotto the 2nd level. 1st & 10) Let's try it again with Evans, but not as crisp as Mancz goes to the 2nd level this time. 2nd & 6) Shotgun, out to Isabella. Very nice pocket all around. 3rd & 1) Evans bounces it outside to gain the first. Line got a draw, Wilson & KeeSean with the edge blocks. 1st & 10) TOUCHDOWN Evans, that's 90% Evans but the line got good push and he picked the hole between Mancz & Boettger. 3rd Defense Series : 96-94-61-59 ------------------ 1st & 10) Rollout to the left, Jonathan closing but complete to the left flat. 1st & 10) End around to right past Cline again. 2nd & 5) Middle run, Broughton & Dale hold but Cline gets pushed back. 96-93-94-59 3rd & 3) Inc deep right, ball out quick. Cline prob closest with upfield speed move. 4th Offense Series : 75-65-70-63-74 ------------------ 1st & 10) Allen inc right sideline. Jarvis and Anderson fling a guy to the ground. 2nd & 10) Oof, Gouraige and Van Demark both get beat around the edge, pass defended. 3rd & 10) Deep middle to Ateman, Boettger walked right into Allen but he steps into the throw nicely. 1st & 10) Johnson off LT. Gouraige and Boettger earned a draw and good job by Johsnon finding a hole. 2nd & 2) Johnson inside bounces right where Anderson has pushed the defender back a few yards. 1st & 10) Play-action rollout right, turns into scramble for a 1st. 1st & 10) Line blocks left and Johnson follows. Steenbergens guy should have had the TFL but tackle broken 2nd & 7) Quick throw to Shorter hits him in the worst possible spot, the hands. 3rd & 7) Bears run a stunt against the right side, easily handled. Checkdown to Evans converts. 1st & 10) Down-blocking left, Evans cuts right into 5 Bears. 2nd & 9) Counter to the left, Evans runs into traffic. Anderson moved his guy out again. 3rd & 7) Middle blitz picked up nicely by Johnson. Seam throw hits Steenbergen in the worst possible spot, the hands. 4th & 7) Missed FG. 4th Defense Series : 96-51-61-59 ------------------ 1st & 10) Middle run, good push by Dale to disrupt it. 2nd & 8) Rollout right, Cline chases it down for the throw-away. 3rd & 8) Jonathan with a nice power rush, gets to the QB who barely gets it away to convert. 1st & 10) Quick out right, nothing to see here. 96-93-94-59 2nd & 3) Middle run over Vickers, almost literally. Big hole filled by Howard. 1st & 10) WR screen left, Vickers giving a better effort there. 96-51-61-59 2nd & 2) Out pattern left inc. Jonathan and Dale muddying the pocket to that side. 3rd & 2) Another out route, Jonathan again winning with the ghost rush, may have hurried things. 93-61-94-59 4th & 2) Incomplete, TOD, Jonathan tries an inside power rush and Vickers a ... spin move? Lol. 5th Offense Series : 75-65-70-63-68 ------------------ 1st & 10) Middle run. Looked like the nose jumped the snap and Anderson still buried him. Backer stood Jarvis up, disengaged and made the stop. 2nd & 9) Counter looked well blocked in the middle but Matador Steenbergen allows the quick TFL. Anderson road grades 73 again. 3rd & 12) Draw to Johnson doesn't quite get it. Big hole in the middle. 5th Defense Series : 96-94-61-59 ------------------ 1st & 10) After blocked punt, yeesh. False start though as Bills show blitz. 1st & 15) Big pass to TE down right seam. Both edges get taken around the world. 1st & goal) TOUCHDOWN flare to RB to the right over Cline's head. 2pt conv) GOOD, Jonathan buried by TE & T on a double-team. 6th Offense Series : 75-65-70-63-68 ------------------ 1st & 10) Play action rollout right pass tipped. 2nd & 10) Middle run right Anderson & Boettger who get big time movement. 3rd & 5) Shotgun slant to Ateman to move the chains. McGhin gets run over but the DE trips, Jarvis touches him down lol. Anderson keeps taking #73's lunch money. 1st & 10) Heavy left set, Johnson up the middle behind (guess who) Anderson's turn out block. 2nd & 6) Same set, off LT this time for a couple. Not as much push from the left side 75/65. 3rd & 2) Heavy right set. Evans over RG for the game-ender. Jarvis seals inside, but mainly Evans just powering through the trash. 1st & victory) Yay. Quick thoughts: - Of course I continue to be of the opinion that Anderson is Mitch Morse's replacement in waiting, and could start at G without the suddenly crazy depth of McG, Torrence, Edwards, Bates. - Jonathan finally looked like last pre-season on the pass rush. - Boettger played almost the whole game at LG. I hope it's just a matter of giving him some tape to shop his wares. His anchor is poor post-injury (and wasn't exceptional pre-injury). - DJ Jazzy Dale popped a little more than I remember. - Cline at end is a lot like Klein at LB - they don't always know what they're doing, but they do it as high pace. - Broughton, Vickers and McGhin are obvious fodder. Jarvis may not be better than Boettger right now, ouch. - Tell me why Shorter makes the 53 and Ateman doesn't. I'm listening (draft pick is not a valid argument). - I keep referring to Sternberger as Mary Steenbergen because that's how he blocks. And apparently catches. Should be cut #1. - KAllen I think will settle in. Some missed throws looked like reading different things from the receivers. Showed he can matriculate. - Ty Johnson looked a lot better than Mims, maybe better than Evans. Interesting to see who gets offered the P/S.
  21. So yeah, I noticed both of those, but what made me wonder whether these were on Torrence was this: His initial punch on both with with his left hand to the opponent's left shoulder pad. He and Brown in particular ran a lot of those last week and typically what happens on a line shift blitz adjustment where he'll stab the guy in the gap (the DT) then turn the other way to handle the edge while the tackle gets the wide blitzer. Pittsburgh ran a ton of edge blitzes that required this and it looks like that was what Torrence was doing that may or may not have been in sync with the rest of the line. It's either that or the initial punch was supposed to be to the chest but the DT matrixed to slide under it to the inside. On both of these, Morse turns to block the other tackle and leaves the inside gap to Torrence. On the first Edwards and Dawkins double the end and Morse at least pauses his man for a moment before losing him to the inside as well. On the second Morse engages and again lost leverage to the inside, and Edwards had nobody to block. But even if Torrence's guy hadn't been winning to the inside, Morse was still getting walked by his guy even farther and faster. So if we're going to ding Torrence on these, Morse is going to grade pretty equivalently. It's more fun in preseason with guys you don't really know, you might find someone who has a great reputation isn't living up to it, or someone comes out of nowhere to actually play pretty well (Bobby Hart last preseason for instance. No, really!) Probably not going down to drill down to actual grades, no. Maybe once I'm retired lol. But I'll try to see if there's anything notable in the 2nd half that might point to who might make it and who might get cut (please not Anderson, he's gonna play for 10 years for someone)
