Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?
Gregg replied to NeverOutNick's topic in The Stadium Wall
I never put any stock into what these "reports" say when it comes to what the Bills are trying to do. You have a better chance of getting information from a CIA OP then you do from the Bills. McBean runs an extremely tight ship when it comes to information being leaked to the media. -
It would be pretty cool if Buffalo can get both a Lombardi and a Cup. WNY would go bonkers for one but to win both would be something epic to see. Like you I prefer the Bills as football is my favorite sport and I want Lombardi for WNY over anything else.

I think you are going to see the Sabres do next year what the Devils did this year. They have a solid core already. They still need to improve the D but they are building something special in Sabres land.
-
I think the first tiebreaker is regulation wins if they tie in points. OT wins and SO (skills competition) don't count in this case.

They are building a good team around Lawrence. Being a Jags fan now has to be pretty good.

Trouble with the Giants as well.

The latest, per Schefter via NBC Sports Edge: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports "it doesn't sound like" Aaron Rodgers will be traded to the Jets before the NFL Draft. "Green Bay seems quite content to wait until after the draft to make a trade," he said. "Both sides seem to be dug in." Jets general manager Joe Douglas said last week that Rodgers is "going to be here" amid rumors that the team will wait until the second day of the NFL Draft to make the move for Rodgers, 39. Rodgers' massive contract has proved difficult to move, and differences in compensation have come to the forefront in recent weeks. Still, the Packers are likely to deal Rodgers to New York sometime before the heat death of the universe.

Speaking of the schedule. We have about month to go. If I remember correctly the schedule came out in May last year. Just a guess but since the Bills opened up at LA last year, I will say week one at home this year.

GOAT debate related to era Montana vs Brady
Gregg replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
If winning championships is a factor, then its Brady AINEC. But overall QB talent I would say Manning, Marino, Montana, Mahomes are right there with Brady. But Brady wins because you can't argue with 7 Super Bowl championships. -
The Sabres are going to be very good starting next season. They have one of the best offenses in the league already. They have found their starting goaltender who looks like he can be one of the best in the league. Use the offseason to upgrade the defense and this team will win a lot of games next season. What is really encouraging is the core group is very young. They are only going to get better as they get more experience.

New stadium cost goes up from $1.4 billion to $1.54 billion.

If you are in area sometime maybe when the Sabres are on Long Island or any game/concert. You should check it out. It really is a nice arena. -

At Giants Stadium both the Jets and Giants had 78,000 season tickets holders. The Giants had a waiting list around 100k the Jets 25K. When MetLife and PSL's started both teams went thru their waiting list. The Giants can still sellout with mostly season tickets holders but there are a limited number of individual tickets for sale. The Jets don't have as many season tickets holders. They advertise both season tickets sales and individual tickets sales. It will hurt Bills season ticket sales no doubt. Many will be priced out unfortunately. -

I've been to UBS arena. The place is gorgeous. -
If they can go on a Cup run and win it, then that is great. It's the hardest trophy in sports to win. Young team with little playoff experience probably won't win it all the 1st time they make the playoffs. Take the dynasty Islanders teams that won 4 in a row from 80-83. They got beat by the Leafs in 78 and hated Rangers in 79 before winning it all. The Oilers of the Gretsky era fell short including being swept in the 83 Finals by the Islanders before winning it all in 84.

Beane should at least kick the tires on this.
-
Agree. I am not saying they Cup or even go on a playoff run yet. But I do think they will have a good regular season and make the playoffs. They need to improve the defense however but next year will be a good year. IMHO.
-
I think next year will be the year. I know the Sabres have been spinning their wheels going nowhere for a long time. But you can tell when a team is really starting to get better. This Sabres team has that feel to it. 2023-24 is going to be the year the Sabres have a breakout season. Similar to what NJ is doing this year.
-
If he was on the team from the start, then there is a good chance the Sabres would have been in the playoffs this year. It is early but you can tell he has the "it" factor to be a really good goalie.

He gets another concussion then he should retire. No joke he had 2 confirmed last season vs CIN/GB and probably 3 but they didn't call it a concussion during the first Bills game.
