  1. stepped right back to the kiddies table. try a cogent argument. it'lll be good for the little gray matter you have.
  2. look at you. cheering for a recession. meanwhile the folks who got wealthy trading securities are busy making bets, based largely on these numbers, on solid growth. hmmmmm....
  3. https://apnews.com/article/hurricane-helene-trump-musk-conspiracy-theories-misinformation-fe81869765d778ac2ff3dc5f9ac18e10 “They’re being treated very badly in the Republican areas,” Trump told Fox News, ignoring reports and photo and video evidence of recovery efforts underway throughout the region. “They’re not getting water, they’re not getting anything.” ADVERTISEMENT Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones endorsed Trump’s fact-free allegation. Jones, the founder of InfoWars, popularized the idea that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut that killed 20 children in 2012 was faked. “Exclusive: Victims of Hurricane Helene Confirm The Federal Government is Purposely Blocking Rescuers and Stealing Aid In an Attempt to Keep Deep Red Areas From Voting,” Jones posted Thursday on X. Ya'll are in good company with Jones and trump. be proud....
  4. Look, the debt will definitely catch up with us. So will global warning. How soon is my selfish question.
  5. duluth minnesota. from what i've read. anchored here. These are my peeps. or Anchorage (cue the "socialist" cries) https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=aaplw&ei=utf-8&p=ichelle+shocked+anchorage#id=2&vid=9ae20c10a652f7d588ea3fa6c1d3ce75&action=click
  6. It’s bad enough for sure. People have lost their homes and businesses. I think most will stay. Where is safer?
  7. dude, plenty of people give blood gratis. red cross is not the only source. but go ahead, make altruism bad. unless you own a helicopter...I saw the Chilhuly exhibit weeks before the flood. f'in spectacular. Lots of everyday folks did. I'm hoping the glass wasn't broke but if so I'm sure the artist will make it right. https://www.biltmore.com/things-to-do/events/chihuly-at-biltmore/
  8. elitism to the max. but still a crying shame. It's a monument to capitalism and greed. Open to the public again who knows when. https://www.cnn.com/travel/biltmore-estate-damage-asheville-helene/index.html
  9. bitter oranges. wtf man, they're are good people other than your favored helpers. And I'd wager they're more effective.
  10. I know 2 people on the board. They're both solid R's and solidly committed to their community. They know where to send the money. They're plugged in and smart as whips. I have no idea where the 10% comes from. They're all volunteers x at the administrative level (and they aren't wealthy). Meet in a hospital boardroom or community college or church probably. Never been part. But. give them a break. These are great people doing good things.
  11. yes, gratuitous emotion but what a great song

  13. They'll get the aid. We'll go further into national debt. people will complain....
  14. or is it purposeful?
  15. Take a look at the board of United Way of SWVA. These are all local folks with the majority of their friends and family in the region. They care. Other regional United Ways are similar. What did the United Way do to you?
  16. No. You just hate "the establishment". stop spreading misinformation https://unitedwayswva.charityproud.org/Donate/MiniCampaign/34132?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery "United Way of Southwest Virginia has activated the 2024 SWVA Regional Disaster Relief Fund to assist those impacted by the flooding. All 2024 SWVA Regional Disaster Relief Fund donations will go directly to support those impacted by the September 2024 flood."
  17. I'm not in NC right now. A good friend picked up his son and his family from there earlier this week. They're living with him now for the foreseeable future. Asheville is not doing well. I'm pretty familiar with rural WNC. There are only a few major roads thru the mountains there and I've been on most of them at one time or another. The terrain without those roads is extremely challenging. No doubt there are people still in great need and they are getting anxious, hungry, thirsty and angry. (as an aside, people who grew up in these areas are often quite skilled in survival efforts like canning, hunting, fishing etc) But demonizing those in the government who are trying to help is evil. Damascus Va is no Asheville. It's rural and red. The United Way has set up a volunteer area at the entrance to town. It's well organized. It's extremely well stocked. Many folks don't want their property worked on til insurance adjusters and FEMA evaluate. I have yet to hear of anyone there complaining about FEMA. But everyone is talking about the disaster and what is being done to help.
  18. Because reality is ugly for them Uglier than this terrible tragedy. The truth is their enemy. World Kitchen has proven its value over many tragedies. If you want to donate to individuals, go for it. If you want to donate to an entity proven to be a huge asset to weather victims, Chef Andres' charity is an excellent choice. We chose to give to the local United Way as did several important local businesses. The disparagement of these vital charities is shameful.
  19. TheR's will bargain liberal Asheville out of the aid then approve it. Remember trump and the california fires? https://www.politico.com/newsletters/california-playbook-pm/2024/10/03/trump-disaster-aid-00182450
  20. Yes, because before today we D's enjoyed being blamed for a bad economy. We could have fixed it by clicking our glass slippers together but chose not to.
  21. yes, what does not follow? The post is straightforward and has no real conclusion except that he was speaking to a half filled gym while bragging about crowd size. Did you mean his bragging was a non sequitur?
  22. no, I mean what in the post about a 1/2 filled gym in a thread about disaster funds is a non sequitur.
  23. nope. don't follow your logic at all. what is a non sequitur?
  24. the gym is half full. what doesn't follow?
