  1. They're really riled up. I guess bursting their imaginary bubbles cuts close to the bone. the climate change debate has changed from "it's not real" to "maybe it is but so what?" overnight. Even here on PPP. Be fun to lock some horns...
  2. Hippocrates said nothing about calling out ungrateful freeloaders. The EKG challenge is still active for anesthesiologist "doc".
  3. One gigantic strawman after another. You are shameless
  4. Often nothing…in any way
  5. This is how you roll. Show the largesse of a few wealthy powerful R’s who want more power while the regular MAGAs complain about lack of aid. Show me where anyone said that. Liar.
  6. it is if you live in that radius... Who is causing it?
  7. likely lower than what current and future devastation will cost. The brits have a saying: "I'm all right Jack, pull up the ladder". Future gens are f'ed but we've lived good lives...such is the M.O. of MAGA.
  8. before there are massive crises...a fraction of a degree of ocean warming could make a difference.
  9. you're being an #######. Do you personally have your chainsaws ready?
  10. It'll be much longer than 72 hours. There are towns 50 miles from Damascus still without power. Almost all the homes and biz in Damascus will need to be demolished and rebuilt. No way to plan for this
  11. I'm responding to NC and SC making this political. and you saying this Such bs. But yes, locals are picking up the slack where possible. Our local Rotary clubs are planning practical and financial assistance. Many other community groups will be involved but right now there's no way to get there. United Way is coordinating aid for SW Va.. Helicopters are flying over my house frequently.
  12. you can't have it both ways. Either the feds are doing too much or not enough. They're doing all they can. The affected area is massive and rough as a cob, as they say. I've gotten lost on a clear day before. And water rescue right after the storm was a place for professionals not volunteer fire depots. But that's what was available logistically. And they were heroic. There's a pic from Damascus with a fire truck half in the stream (then river) that was out attempting rescue. I'm told the crew nearly died. This is an awful situation and the R's are trying to make political hay out of it. If there's any finger pointing to be done, it's at the climate deniers. This is not normal. Oh, and Asheville is heavy D. It's not getting special attention over R areas.
  13. There are virtually no visible illegals there. Construction workers, hotel and wait staff are sometimes Hispanic appearing but there aren’t very many.
  14. never really thought of these mountain towns as flood planes. All that water has to drain into the towns in the valley. This was an extremely unusual event as was a tornado that came through the region about 10 years ago.
  15. This is cool. Would be cooler if there was proper equipment doing it. Not possible over this kind of area and this terrain. It’s this or nothing.
  16. Can't decide if you're actually this miserable or just pretending.
  17. I thought N Ga mtns got hit. Thought Atlanta was worse...maybe at airport? Asheville is solid D. I think Greenville is purple.
  18. It doesn't say how many D zips are affected. Atlanta got hit.
  19. Gotta think this is going to drastically change the flow of the streams. I saw pics of big rapids. Just pure power. But yeah, I actually entered a trout derby in Damascus for the fire department. It’s a nice place to fish.
  20. Damascus Va isn’t too far away from me. Cool little mountain town which the Appalachian trail runs through. It’s recently most famous for an old dude passing out and hitting a few hikers in his 80 ish Cadillac. They have been absolutely devastated. The main road is broken into chunks where there’s any road at all. Houses floating, bridges taken out, massive water levels. The road from the base town to the next up the mountain is totally impassable, maybe even with a 4 wheeler. This poor people. This a true disaster
  21. How y’all doing down in the swamp. Isn’t that what they call UF? Helene was a massive B word. Loads of friends without power still. The waterfalls would be magnificent if anyone could make it to see them. My dogs got skunked tonight. Still all good.
  22. Misunderstood meme. Thought you were calling libs Leninists.
  23. She was. You’re still trying to make her a hero victim. Not that useful except to fools. But keep it up with your ridiculous communist assertions. I’m further from a communist than the vast majority of MAGAs especially those sucking the government teat
  24. Firstly, the immunity case is a direct example. Secondly, SCTUS judges should be above the recent partisan and grift actions that have recently come to light regardless of any direct influence on rulings.
  25. Corruption fueled largely by massive wealth inequality. And your theory?
