I thought about Moss, but with Motor being a FA after this year, Cook being the 3rd down back, and the lack of cap savings… I don’t see a real benefit in trading Moss unless they were going to get a 4th or 5th rounder. If I had to pick, I would say Cam Lewis or AJ

I feel like Beane should issue a formal apology for not striking hold on every single pick. Even though the current draft is looking like an end to end winner and most of the team are starters from this draft, Beane really messed up taking a projected 1st rounder in the 2nd and flipping him for a 5th instead of cutting him. We also need to make sure we are demanding the same from the teams who had to outright release bust first rounders this past month.

It’s tough because you know we aren’t seeing the full playbook in preseason. However, Crowders had the same opportunities as Shakir and it’s not even a competition on the field. If you didn’t know their histories and just watched their output, Shakir is the runaway favorite to make the team. With McKenzie seemingly locked as our slot receiver, I don’t know that I’m paying Crowder to be the 4/5 receiver I’m more concerned about the rumors of them released Kumerow because of how well Hodgins looks. I don’t trust his injury history.

If we were playing the Jets in week 1, then I wouldn't let the starters see the field for the entire preseason. But since we start on the road against the Rams, I think they need to take a few hits and get the brain going. I don't want them to knock the rust off at halftime and it's too late to recover

I agree with their career stats, however I think familiarity in the system is also important. Matt knows the system better, updated or not, and neither are going to see a lot of snaps with Josh running the position. I don't know that Barkley might not be a better back-up in this situation.

I could see Moss traded, Blackshear on the practice squad, with Motor, Cook, and Jones as our starters. Jones always makes it due to special teams. Blackshear could be called up at any time to start, or be our number 4. Motor could potentially be re-signed, but I agree it's doubtful.

I don't think it's an over-reaction. Barkley has shown flashes of being a short term capable starter. The theme of my entire post was that Beane is probably looking for guys we can keep for depth that are cheaper options than others. Barkley is cheaper than Keenum. If Barkley proves he can get the job done for a few games is someone (I won't say it) gets injured, then that cap savings could help us.

I left the first game thinking the opposite. I want to see Barkley get the first reps over Keenum.
