  1. What good are they if they don't get targeted? Something has to change because what happened didn't work. Ever think the Bills were playing soft on the Bills TEs and basically giving up the 4 yards a catch? Ever think the route running by both TEs wasn't anything special because the Jets are softer in the middle? Ever think the Jets weren't worried about shutting down Knox and Kincaid? Whatever you think the TE play statistically had little effect on the game. The Jets seemingly were not worried about Kincaid. He was an afterthought by the Jets and Allen. I think any team will happy with limiting a TE to 4-4 and 26 yards. Yet Bills fans are so encouraged by that performance. IMHO, it's fans hoping for the best. Nothing more than that. I'll wait for some real production, game changing plays, big first downs, and TDs before I anoint Kincaid the next coming. Hopefully, he has a great game vs the Raiders.
  2. I'm not denying that. I'm just amazed at how some are salivating over Kincaid's first game. I'm mean let's get real! It wasn't special or memorable. It was average and ok. Good at best. Four catches and 26 yards and some fans are doing backflips and somersaults.
  3. Ok if you say so. He looked average to me. He looked insignificant to me. He wasn't a weapon. He basically did nothing to impact the game. The stats back that up. Him getting open could mean the Jets didn't consider him a threat. I'd disregard offensive players too if they aren't targeted. If he was to become a threat maybe he doesn't get as open. Look I think he has a lot of potential. He might be very good. But the Jet performance and impact was minimal.
  4. Agree but there's no way you can declare Kincaid had an elite performance. He wasn't impactful no matter who is to blame . That's really the bottom line. He caught 4 balls for 26 yards. LaPorta and Musgrave had better games statistically. Seems like some Bills fans want to wish Kincaid as elite . Let's wait and see because the Jets game was just average.
  5. That's flawed logic because it didn't happen. That is realistic. Time will tell how effective or ineffective it will be. We fans can't assume the 12 package is going to be gold.
  6. The Kincaid hype after that first game is pretty crazy. Really what did he do? Four catches for twenty six yards. We all want him to do well but damn that's about about as insignificant as it gets. Perhaps he passed the sniff test. That's about as far as I will go. I'm still in wait and see mood.
  7. Buffalo has certainly turned the corner as a winning franchise. That falls squarely on Beane and McD. They built a winning culture from the ground hope. Six straight playoff appearances is quite a feat. However, the team can't seem to get to the next step. Hopefully, they will. The lack of playoff progression and SB appearances fall directly on Beane and McD. Not going to list all the evidence. There's plenty of it. The real debate or question is do you think it's time to move on from one or both or stay the course? No easy decision there.
  8. I agree that 12 personal package wasn't very daunting. I believe Knox and Kincaid combined had combined 7 catches for 50 yards. That hardly significant or Gronk/Hernandez like.
  9. Allen deserves plenty of blame for that Jets game. He was awful. So, I disagree with you here. Allen and the Bills offense needs better coaching. An offensive coach is badly needed. So, I agree with your here
  10. I think the Raiders are a tough out. I think they are a little better then average football fans think. The Bills home opener after a very disappointing loss. That's not good news for the Raiders. I believe the Bills just have too much going in their favor for the Raiders to overcome. Raiders 16 Bills 24
  11. This is nothing new. Gabe is what he is which is a limited wide receiver. He had little to no likelihood to succeed against that Jets secondary. He will have better games vs weaker teams. He's on his last year of his rookie contract so he's cost effective and cheap. Next year he won't be a Bill and that a good thing. The Bills will have to find a legit WR2.
  12. O - 2 is pretty hard to come back from. Take into account the Bills schedule too. IMHO, it's not a must win because there are too many games left. There is plenty of time to go on a run.
  13. The Raiders game won't be a cakewalk. They went into Denver and beat them. Denver does have a very good defense. Jimmy G is definitely serviceable and experienced. However, he's limited and can be forced into turnovers. Pressure him. The Raiders will likely try to pound the rock with Jacobs. The Bills can't have blown assignments and gaps because he will make you pay. I really interested in seeing how the Bills team responds. How Allen responds.
  14. You aren't alone in your feelings. You are spot on with regards to the Raiders. The Bills will likely win and Allen will likely play well. Most fans will be happy and satisfied with the win. That includes myself. Bills are the better team and especially at home. However, the big picture still is blurred and seemingly not addressed. Most won't look long term. In fairness, it's a one game at a time kind of mindset that most teams have. You can't look ahead and be unfocused. The Bills players and coaches have a lot to accomplish before they can represent the AFC. They have time to fix things and improve. Right now, let's just get a win! A loss might be devastating.
  15. I'm not saying they are doomed. I'm hopeful the Bills can progress and improve. Hoping they can be a top tier team and represent the AFC. It's certainly possible. I think it's unlikely but that's irrelevant. I'll never give up hope even if I remain skeptical. Nice post Paul. You said what I'm thinking in a more professional manner. Really interesting thought on the team still suffering from 13 seconds and the Cincy loss. I never considered that angle. Frankly, it makes a lot of sense. Seems like the team and the regime hasn't fully recovered from that. Asca fan, I'm still scarred.
  16. That surprised me too. I was really expecting quick slants, lots of motion, and movement. The offensive game plan was perplexing. I thought the first half wasn't too bad. It was acceptable. Allen was taking the short throws and being somewhat effective vs a very tough D. Everything went out the window in the 2nd half. Allen clearly lost his poise. Yet, he was still about to lead his team to the game tying FG. That's how good Allen and his team can be. Come OT and winning the coin toss was great. I thought Allen is going to match down and get a TD or at least a FG. I really felt good about the Bills scoring. Three and out was horrible. The offense looked lost, flat, and predictable. Extremely disappointing finish.
  17. You make good to great points and some a little out there. It was fun reading. Firstly, you don't trade Allen. That's not even an option. End of discussion. Secondly, you implied about building around Allen. 100 percent accurate here. Has the Bills regime done a good enough job here? Built a solid oline? Dangerous weapons? Etc... I'll let that be a rhetorical question. Thirdly,, I think there has to be a happy medium of restraining Allen and yet letting him do what he does best. Reckless throws cannot be accepted or tolerated. Seems like Dorsey or McD aren't able to reign in Allen. Perhaps Allen is unable to restrain himself. Maybe it's a combo of both. Wherever the blame lies it sure hasn't stopped. Allen has been a consistent turnover machine. I don't think it's ok to accept that and say it is what it is. Roll with it sort of speak. Some turnovers are just great D plays made by great players. That wasn't the case on Monday night. Allen was every bit of a rookie like QB. Making poor decisions that were beyond head scratching. Almost to the point of disgust. How many times did you say WTF was that? I know I said that in the TD pass to Diggs. Lastly, I'd like to briefly discuss coaching and schemes. I believe the lack of has contributed to Allen's short comings. Dorsey and Allen don't seem to be on the same page, the run game is an after thought, and offensive creativity and explosiveness is almost non existent. McD seems to be hands off on the offensive side of the ball. In today's game, I want an offensive, creative, and innovative coach. McD is anything but that. Do you have faith his defense is going to led the Bills to a SB appearance? I don't! It will likely be statically good which again is deceptive. Come playoff time good times will exploit his D. It's been a constant theme. Let's be honest here. The love for Allen by Bills fans is great. He's our guy! I proudly wear my number 17 jersey. However, he hasn't played up to high standards for quite some time. Something really has to change. I'm not smart enough to have the answers. The Bills still win despite of it's weaknesses, flaws, and inconsistent play. In a way that is the problem. Hear me out. Winning and making the playoffs is largely a successful season by fan's standards. That's exactly what Buffalo has done for six straight years. A pretty remarkable feat honestly. That keeps people, coaches, and players safe from lots of criticism. It can prevent change because things appear very good. I think that's exactly what's happening in Bflo. Change can absolutely make things worse. Change is scary. Ask yourself is the change worth it? Are McD, Dorsey, and Beane the trio to take the team further? Are there potentially better options? Are you satisfied with the direction of the team? What are your realistic expectations of the team? What's a successful season at this point? Have a great day Bills fans.
  18. Maybe I'm wrong here. Perhaps Allen has gotten a bit complacent in the off season. He seems more consumed by outside activities, public appearances, girlfriends, commercials, and the limelight. This off season I didn't hear anything about him working with Palmer, training, or throwing the ball on his off time. To my naked eye, it almost seems like he's putting in less work. The results showed on Monday night for sure. If anyone has input here please do so. Like I said I could be totally off here.
  19. Allen hasn't been good in quite some time. Come game time I have to hope and pray we get the good to great version of Allen. That's not what you want in a franchise QB . You need and want consistency. That doesn't mean he's always going to be on and play great. That's not realistic. However, his bad is just unacceptable and inexcusable. You just can't give games away in the NFL. It usually comes back to haunt a team. Fantastic post! You said it much more clearly and elegantly than myself. Home run post here!
  20. Absolutely agree here. BB + OC OBrien + NE+ Allen = Lombardi Trophy. McD + OC Dorsey+ Bflo + Allen = Early playoff exits. 6 equations to look at. Coaching matters people.
  21. I get that but your logic is flawed. You can't excuse or minimize the 83 yard run. It gets included in the stats and it's a game changer and game killer. That lone run is bothersome and put a major dent in an otherwise good run D performance.
