Game will come down to Allen and the passing game. thats it really. can he keep up with Wilson and their high scoring offense

Our passing game hasn't been good since week 4. since then defenses have been playing zone and selling out to stop the pass and we have yet to come up with a solution for it. Seattle has a poor defense but so did the Chiefs and Jets and we didn't put many points on them. I think Bills fans are overrating our offense big time.

We punted 0 times against the Jets lol just a lot of shooting ourselves in the foot with penalties and such.  Need to be a threat to run to pass the ball and the running game seemed to get on track with Feliciano back.

  2. I just dont understand why were complaining about a defense dropping extra guys into coverage because they respect our qb lol if you can't at least threaten to run the ball you're not gonna win in this league I don't care who your quarterback is.  We have been horrendous running the football up until this week which makes it difficult to score in the red zone..  josh's flaw is he tries to turn plays where he should just take what the defense gives him into absurd big chunk plays which is exactly what defenses are counting on and he seems to be improving in that regard.

It really doesn't matter when your QB continues to panic and take off from a clean pocket like Allen has the last 4 games. It's almost like he forgot there are other players to throw the ball to besides Diggs.

I still blame Daboll though because he's one of the worst OC's in the league but at least he didn't try any of the jet sweep garbage today which helped this team get lucky and win.

Leaving the pocket could bring a defender out of coverage and open someone up...allen doesn't seem to be panicking and leaving the pocket to gain yards with his legs at all...his eyes are always downfield

I’m envious of everyone being so confident by saying this will/should be a shoot out because Seattle has a bad defense. What makes you think they won’t come out zone defensing us to death like the past 4 opponents? Yes, we are 2-2 in those games, but I’m not sure I’ve seen a team struggle against zone defense quite like we have in those 4 weeks. It’s like we have no answers for it. Wild. Completely put the clamps on the passing game.

These 'struggles' are really correctable mistakes on the opponents side of the field...people are looking at josh Allen's stats and using that as the sole determing factor of the offense struggling it seems like...we've punted three times in 8 quarters...moving the ball has not been an issue.   That drop by Davis and miscommunication on the diggs option route couldve easily been 14 points and were not even having these conversations about the offense

Did anyone really outcoach anyone?  Both teams were down multiple starters and had others limping around.  Rushing and passing stats were nearly identical as was turnovers.  Both teams used pretty much the same exact game plan.  Home team won by 3 which is expected when equals meet.

I'm baffled what outcoached means in the context of this game lol they didn't really fool our offense at all and their offensive strategy was to run it down our throats because we cannot tackle...also the pats tried a rather ridiculous onside kick that we were prepared for which really swung the game.  Are we saying its the coaches fault the linebackers are absolutely awful? Because if thats what outcoached means then sure lol

Well when other teams coaching staffs come up with a game plan and it doesn’t work they know how to switch it and change things up to make it work

our coaching staff doesn’t know how to do this. It’s why we get out coached in the 2nd half of games.

The last two weeks very much standout as far as halftime adjustments go so I disagree with this take entirely lol continuing to try to force the ball deep is exactly what opposing defenses want and are expecting us to do

We were one of the top offenses, so clearly we have the ability to be one. I don't think any one of the teams you mentioned is necessarily better at WR than we are. The difference is that we were scheming guys open for the first 4 games and now that other teams have figured out our routes we haven't adjusted.

Oh sorry, you must have missed half of the posters in this thread defending the shortcomings of the coaching.

I'm not sure the defenses 'adjusted' specifically to what we were doing schematically in the passing game...seems like its more they know we haven't been successful running the ball so theyre dropping more guys into coverage.  We'll know more after the Seahawks game as they have some issues on defense and like to play a lot of man and maybe the weather won't be horrendous for once lol.

Stopping the run against teams with wide open offenses is IMO the Bills weakness. Even in the bad weather, KC and Mahomes and the weapons they have needed to be respected.

We've seen McD Ds struggle versus this template often. The Pats are not that team, and neither is Cam. Worse, with the conditions turnovers may be a factor. They just don't have the talent to execute that notion.

Then there is stopping Allen and the Bills O...which has advanced since we last faced a better Pats D and moved the ball well.

Get behind to this Bills team, could get in trouble.

Was just gonna say this...when we can't load up the box we struggle making plays against the run because our linebackers have been historically horrendous 🤣  id have to rewatch the Tennessee game which i really don't want to do but Henry really didn't do much because we played with a safety in the box id assume

The Patriots aren't in the sh*ttr because of Brady as much as the collapse of their defense.

Their defense was ranked #1 last year.  They're currently #17.

Their offense was #15 last year - pretty mediocre even with Brady under center.  This year they're somewhat worse: #24.

Their D fell 16 slots while their O fell only 9.

The Pats didn't just lose Brady.  They lost some FAs and led the league in COVID opt outs.

Arguing whether Brady or Belichick is "The Answer" is kind of like arguing which came first, the chicken or the egg.  You can make valid arguments for both sides.

I personally think it's a little bit of both. Belichick and Brady each contributed to the other's success.

They had a couple good players on the defensive end hold out for covid this season which im sure belichick didn't plan for.

The Jets scored 28 points vs. the Broncos (though aided by 3 Ints).  Offinse has generated 320, 277, 254, 260, 285, 263 & 219 yards (268 avg) in 5 blowout losses and two games withing 9 points.

I'd be careful to announce they got their "mojo" back....

And they didn't even break 200 against us when we were keeping our only linebacker that can cover anyone on a snap count and the completely immobile statue that is joe Flacco wasnt even playing...injuries aren't normally much of an excuse but we have been absolutely decimated...im not saying we're definitely gonna shut down the patriots but this is not the 07 patriots were talking about here lol are they really miles ahead of the jets offensively?  Jets had extra time to prepare and gase is coaching for his job im not surprised at all he scored on a scripted drive

Have you been watching the Bills play.

We are in for a very difficult game next week.  We could barely bet the Jets.

I never understand why people on this site talk such trash.

I cant understand the word barely being used to describe that win when the jets were held to 4 yards of offense in the second half of a game where we were missing a ton of starters and a lot of the key starters that were playing have been banged up...not to mention the bills are practicing against a similar but improved version of the offense the pats are likely going to run.  I think with the addition of diggs the pats are going to struggle trying to man up our receivers which they had no problems with in the past.  I certainly don't think this will be an easy win but this current patriots team is not even remotely close to the level the chiefs or titans are playing at and they will be one of the least talented teams we have played so far this year on paper.

  12. I would say all in all the schedule was easier than expected...jets were certainly not supposed to be the worst team ever and the pats are as beatable as they've ever been...and thats 4 of our division games.  Beat Denver and the chargers and Miami and split with new England and we can get swept by the rest of the nfc west and lose to pitt and still be almost assured the division at 9 wins...figure we lose one of those afc games and steal one from the nfc west though.

I can one up this.... This morning on "First things first" Nick Wright(a complete clown) claimed the Pats had nothing to worry about because after they beat the bills this week they'll be a game back and the Bills will implode. Said and 8 pt win against the Jets should actually register as a loss..... I had a chuckle.

Lol they're a game behind the dolphins too though 🤣 and only 2 games in front of those very same terrible jets...its gonna feel strange rooting for the pats to beat the dolphins for once

I agree and it's troubling that they came out so flat after 2 bad games against the Titans & Chiefs.

I'm not a Jets fan, but I feel bad for Jets fans. Gase is brutal

I just dont think 190+ yards of offense and what should've been 12 points in 4 drives in the first half is as flat as most people think it is... bills have way less possessions than those inept days were comparing this offense to because the defense is giving up huge clock killing drives. Defense adjusted and absolutely embarrassed the jets in the second half...4 yards of offense allowed in an entire half of football is absolutely insane I dont care how bad the team youre playing is

So, watching what D.K. Metcalf has done so far this season and listening to Russell Wilson, I was looking over the 2019 draft and was thinking about our picks. Metcalf went #64 - last player chosen in Round 2. We took Ed Oliver Round 1 and Cody Ford Round 2.

Would we change anything? If we took Metcalf, probably not make the trade for Diggs? Is Metcalf more "valuable" than Oliver or Ford? Thoughts??

We mightve done a worse job developing metcalf than the Seahawks did too...these kind of comparisons are very difficult

All I can keep thinking about is the year they started 5-0 under Trent Edwards, who is no Josh Allen....he wasn't even Joe Dufek (look it up) and then went 2-8 or something like that.    But a very familiar feeling so far - we're all pretty giddy right now.  Allen looks fantastic as does the entire offense.  Need to get the defense shored up for the games coming.  Should be a fun ride....

I think they started 5-1 not 5-0 that year if it makes you feel better 🤣

I've always felt concerned about the (to me) apparent lack of 3rd quarter scoring we see out of the Bills.  After looking it up (https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/3rd-quarter-points-per-game?date=2020-09-21), I feel that my concern is warranted:

    • 2018:  23rd in the NFL, averaging 3.9 points
    • 2019:  26th, averaging 3.4 points
    • 2020:  31st, with a goose egg through two weeks

This is not me complaining about Daboll.  I've actually been happy with him so far this season (although, I'm still pissed about the playoff loss, but I digress).

The team under this current coaching staff has always just seemed flat (offensively) coming out of halftime.

I'm interested to see how others feel about this topic and possibly gain a better understanding of why this seems to be a trend.

Seems like we always kick off to start the 2nd half and give up a ridiculously long drive this year which limits the offenses chances

Unless our defense can return to where it was last year, its gonna be a mighty tall order to beat KC in the playoffs.

Its at least plausible to believe the bills could win a shootout against a team like kc now so that's definitely a good feeling lol
