Devin Lloyd and Tyler Linderbaum not getting the respect they deserve here. Those are blue chip prospects, with not a lot of depth at their position in this draft.

We can get DBs and WRs later. If Linderbaum and/or Lloyd is there at #25, Bills would be nuts to pass on that value.

Issue with Linderbaum is he has only played center, and the Bills just reworked Morses contract. He doesn’t have guard flexibility so he would be drafted exclusively as a back up.

Just came here to post this.

I haven't spent much time thinking about Treylon Burks to the Bills, but I have to be honest: the idea of a pass catching corps of Diggs, Davis, Burks, Knox, and Howard is incredibly enticing. The size and speed mix of that group would be really hard for defenses to contain.

Not only that, but Burks and Davis are such big receivers that the run blocking prowess they could add would really open things up for Kenneth Walker.

As long as the Bills brass felt that McCollum could handle CB2 work to start the season, I'd be all for this draft. I also think Stout to the Bills is likely in real life.

Not sure what IOL was on the board in round 4 but if there was a good one available, or a slight trade up I’d be all about that draft. Signed-A guy who likes Walker more than Breece Hall.

Tampa - 2020 Super Bowl Champs Starting secondary

Knowing teams wouldn't even try to run on them (*cough get Jordan Davis cough cough*) it allowed the D line to pin their ears back and tee off.

    Probably helped the Secondary to.

I just have a hard time wanting Davis as he is still a 2 down player. And who knows how he will manage his weight in the NFL, sure he lost weight for the combine but once he gets drafted and to Buffalo I’m sure he will be hitting the wings pretty hard. Last thing I want to see is another Dareus situation, and Davis isn’t nearly as talented as Dareus was.

He was on the left side of the defensive formation that play IIRC, going against the RT.

Wow, that’s my bad. Could have sworn the chiefs were driving to the opposite end zone and he was on the right side. Camera angles make everything fuzzy. Nonetheless, I think Rousseau would be the top candidate to move to the other side as he is the most talented end on the roster behind Von.

Trading Poyer doesn’t help your team win a SB this season.

offer him a 2 year extension at 15.5 mil per fully guaranteed. That would make him 3rd highest paid Safety which is fair. Currently he’s making near 10 mil this year.

Does anyone really think we can’t find 5 mil more per year for him?

if you need more $ next year simply restructure Josh/Tre/Dion

You are speculating an extension based on his Instagram wife tweets. I don’t think that’s how Beane or any decent NFL execute operates. Let him play this contract out and figure it out after the season.

They need to draft one this year or next whether poyer stays or goes given the age of both safeties.  Can’t see it being before the 3rd though, this regime has not drafted a non premium position in the first 2 rounds outside of edmunds and he was drafted to be the QB of the defense. Also depends on what their assessment is for Jaquan Johnson.

Give Dax Hill a shot at outside corner and if he ends up not being able to do it (I think he can personally), he could take over for Poyer.

Think the Bills let his contract run out, hopefully with a super bowl victory. He’s a great player but for what I think he will want at his age I’d pass with all the other contracts coming up.

Joe raises some very important questions and then just concludes that the Bills will be able to solve them.   I'm not so sure.

One is that Miller appears to be much better on the left side of the defense, and the Bills don't have anyone proven to play the right.  Rousseau only plays the left, Epenesa hasn't shown much, nor has Basham.  Lawson plays the left, too.  I don't see a solution to that.  Maybe Miller will play the right more this season, but Joe B points out that the Broncos figured out that he's better on the left, and the Rams seemed to figure it out, too.

More of a problem, I think, is that Miller lines up wide, without a hand on the ground.  The Bills rarely put their DEs wide.  Joe says they don't because they're okay with forcing the running back to the outside, because the linebackers and DBs are good at shutting down the run out there.  Lining up wide lets Miller pick his route to the passer, but it also creates a gap to his inside for the running back, a gap that Edmunds has never shown he can control very well.

McDermott and Frazier are smart, and I suspect they're already working on adjustments.   I can't imagine that the Bills spent the money on Miller to use him in a style that limits his effectiveness.  The whole point of getting him was to have a finisher, and if he's going to be a finisher the Bills have to put him in the best position to do what he does.   That means a right defensive end is going to have step up (AJ, Boogie, Shaq, or Rousseau), and the Bills' back seven will have to learn to shut down the off-tackle runs that Miller's style may give up.

I agree with most of what you said, but I very vividly recall a play where Rousseau batted a ball and intercepted it from the right side against the Chiefs, so he’s played RDE before. I’m not basing this off that one play, but if I had to assume who would start at right end it would be Groot since he is the 2nd best end behind Miller.

I'm not in favor of this potential trade up but the Ramsey trade is not a good comparison. If Gardner works out you get an elite CB on a rookie contract with a 5th year option at the end. Ramsey counts $25 million against the cap this year. Gardner will be around $5 to $6 million.

Yes but Ramsey was an All Pro corner vs. a rookie unknown…counting on Gardner to be as good as Ramsey is absurdly optimistic.

    Thoughts on Ellis Brooks?

A ILB prospect with WLB size and average athleticism. Is pretty good in coverage from what I’ve seen. Seems like he could be a good backup and good special teams player. Would take him as a Matakevich replacement. If they draft a linebacker I’d like a guy who can play the SAM spot when they decide to run that defense.

    Lewis Cine

    RAS: 9.9

“Cine is yet another Georgia defender on this list with the sixth-best RAS finish over the past decade. A 4.37-second 40-yard dash and 1.45-second 10-yard split (both 99th percentile) got him noticed for his excellent speed and closing acceleration, while his 133-inch broad jump (98th percentile) also put him in elite company. Cine reads the game exceptionally well and is a sound tackler with NFL-caliber physicality. It wouldn’t be shocking to see him land in the back of the first round with these athletic numbers.”

I agree, I’d rather have a different type of WR, I just feel like Dotson has Buffalo Bill written all over him. Terry is a huge Penn St fan, and I think that’s why all the Barkley rumors started floating around. Top talent is ripe to be selected. I was really surprised they didn’t take Oweh. Given the amount of money and history tied into that university, I wouldn’t be surprised if Dotson is the pick.

I don’t know why, but I get that Dotson Bills vibe.

There are multiple good Penn State prospects. There’s Dotson and Ebiketie in the 1st or 2nd. OT Walker in the middle rounds (NFL comparison Dion Dawkins) and Luketa who switched from SAM LB to DE his last year at Penn State. And punter Jordan Stout who has a way lower touchback punter percentage than Araiza who some people want so badly.

He is average at everything. Give me a back who does 1 thing really well rather than the sort of jack of all trades master of none. Like if he is there in round 4 - fine. If he goes before that? Pass.

I agree. In this running back by committee approach that is becoming more common, I think the Bills need a blazer at running back, like Pierre Strong.

  13. For all those wanting that punter in the 4th round, isn’t it possible his ability to punt the ball far could possibly hurt the Bills? What if he is just booming kicks into the end zone. I’d rather spend a 6th or 7th on a different punter, like the one from Georgia. Not spending a premium draft pick on a punter when the Bills have positions in need of depth and there will still be good punters available in the 6th/7th and even UDFA.

Last year at this time people were calling Singletary a disappointment. Then he had a bounce back year and now people are singing a different tune.

Last year was Moss' 2nd year. It's way too early to make a pronouncement on his career. I liked Moss before he was drafted and was glad we drafted him. He has a nice physical style which I thought the team needed. He was a good pass blocker and showed good hands as a receiver.

I think people need to dial down the criticism a bit because stranger things have happened than a 3rd rounder having a bounce back season.

Moss was literally a power running back who ran with no power last season. With Duke here for 3rd downs I have a hard time seeing him even being active every week.
