What would they do with Hill?  He isn’t beating out Hyde or Poyer this year and Taron Johnson is fine covering slot receivers.  Hill has no experience in covering outside receivers.

if they were set at Corner for this year, maybe, but I would not like this idea.

I think that Kyler Gordon may be the best CB that is left at 25.  Think he would be a decent fit.

As tempting as a top WR prospect would be, I can’t see how they fill a starting CB position early in the year if White is out and the defer CB to 2nd or later. Nightmare is starting the season with Dane Jackson and Siran Neal or 2nd round (or later) rookie.  That would negate most of the expected improvements in pass rush.

I’ve read some stuff about scouts wanting to make Hill a full time corner.

First round corner I’d want Elam or Booth.

Mid round CB Josh Williams from Fayetteville State.

I know.  I’ve stated that over a hundred times in this thread 😃

but if Beane thinks he’s the guy for us and we can replace RG and CB properly in the other rounds of the draft or a vet FA ring chaser…..he could be the finishing touch.

if he’s not gonna be a 1st rd pick we could conceivably trade down and draft a Rb, CB, OG and WR in the first 3 rounds.

I prefer we didn’t…..but our team is good enough where the draft shouldn’t make or break our super bowl chances.

Lol sorry, I haven’t really visited this thread that much. I wouldn’t be against a trade down, but want them to stay in the 1st for that 5th year option. This draft should be really interesting if Beane brings back Bates and signs a vet CB. Could go many ways.

He could be the finishing touch, depending on what we do @ RG and Spencer Browns potential improvements

The value isn’t there in the first round. I doubt Hall gets selected in the first for that reason. 1st round should be spent on premium positions, CB, Edge rusher, OT, maybe WR.

Doesn’t need to be replaced in round 1. Bates was a UDFA.

I think he could start in NE. Not sure about Chicago. Not sure about here (he would compete though for sure)

I’m not sure Zion ends up getting drafted in the 1st, same with Kenyon Green. Round 1 Bills should go CB, but they definitely need to address the oline whether it’s depth or competing for a starting spot. Will likely need at least 2 picks spent on the oline.

So far Beane has been relatively neglectful of his number 1 priority of getting Josh protection.

They definitely need to add at least 1 IOL who can play both guard spots and center and a tackle who can also play guard in the draft, especially if they lose Bates.

Agree about concern for OL. A lot is riding on Brown playing well at RT. Beane screwed the pooch not drafting Creed Humphrey last year. He would have started at guard and been the heir apparent for Morse. Water under the bridge.

With Morse extension and Saffold deal, the shift now has to be getting a quality OT that will push Bates for a starting job at guard. Bates then goes back to utility infielder role. Your rookie OT that starts at guard then becomes your swing OT.

If Ford can improve just a little then he becomes your backup guard and if all goes well probably doesn't dress for most games. Doyle is the 3rd TE and true emergency OT that dresses for each game.

Does anyone know if Bernhard Raimann can play guard? I know I saw him mocked to the Bills a while back as a guard, but I don’t believe he has any experience there. He is mocked in early to mid second in most of what I’ve seen so far.

First, this is a scenario where they drop a little. I've seen MANY mocks where one of the two is available around the 12-14 range.

Second, traditionally our 1st and 2nd would get us to 17. But in a year without QBs at the top, I get the feeling people are looking to move down and get picks for next season. So the price may be cheaper.

Lastly, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that if he feels either are worth it and would take us over the top - that he'd move a pick, maybe even the 1st, from next season.

If he retains Bates and adds another bargain guy or two he really likes - he'll really set himself up to have the team where CB is the only real need outside of developmental depth players. And he's proven in years past he likes to move up in drafts. I don't think this is crazy as you think.

I think he will move up, even if it's just a little, to make sure he gets one of the top 4 corners. I've seen some mocks and done some mocks online where Gardner, Stingley, McDuffie, and Booth are gone by 25. I don't see him just sitting at 25 and settling on whoever is the best available at the position.

I’d agree about moving up a little for McDuffie or Booth, but they’re not going to trade all the way up for Gardner. Even if they keep Bates they’d at least want competition for RG and need oline depth in general, so I don’t see them trading their 2nd.

You don't draft #25 and claim you're all in.

    Just aren't.

If this was the 2019 Bills drafting yes, you stock picks or hold.

I don’t think they have to trade a future 1st to prove they’re “all in.” Maybe they trade like a 4th and a 6th to move up a few spots and get the CB they really like, but I don’t see any reason to trade all the way up for Gardner when probably McDermotts biggest strength has been coaching up DB’s.

    this is interesting

Spotrac has his market value at 4 years, $49M or $12.3M/yr

    https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-jets/jamison-crowder-16831/market-value/

    Obviously, the market hasn't agreed

Report is his contract is "up to" $4M

He hasn't returned punts in 3 years with the Jets, but he used to with Washington

I’m sure Crowder wants to play with a real QB and try and improve his stock and get a better contract next year since the market wasn’t great for him this year. Crazy players want to come here, they know Josh is THAT dude.

No f...ing around.  Get the best guys the guys you want if you know they won't be there in RD 2

To get back into round 1 would cost their 2nd, 3rd and 4th cuz they pick so late in each round. That’s not worth it to me. They still need a lot of Oline depth and possibly a starter at right guard.

Beane likes to go into the draft without any bad holes, so he'll sign a vet CB or two for sure, at some point.

But I would welcome a 1st round CB.

I’d be cool with a 1st round CB. I really want Zion Johnson to solidify the line and become the Morse replacement. High RAS guy which the Bills seem to value these days in olinemen.

  12. IF they get Bradberry, that would maybe push CB to the 3rd round where they would have options like Alontae Taylor, Coby Bryant, Jalyn Armour-Davis or Josh Williams. It would still be a need, but would allow them to address IOL or WR in the 1st and 2nd. I really would love Zion Johnson if he’s there to solidify the offensive line even more. But if somehow Olave was there I’d want him. This is a pretty deep Oline class.

Whenever I see an NFL commercial and Allen is screaming on the sidelines to his teammates in that, now, iconic moment of his.. I’m still legitimately angry.   It still does something visceral to me, knowing how he’s about to be let down.

And to think about how angry us as fans were, I think this team (specifically the defense and new special teams coach) must have a massive chip on their shoulders after letting Josh down last year. They know they need to make up for not letting the Bills advance.

I just don’t see the Bills taking a rb in the first round, we have much greater need at cb, iol, and slot wr (even depth outside wr).

Singletary showed enough to be comfortable with him as the starter, the earliest I could possibly see us taking a rb is the second, and even that would be unlikely. Even though Moss didn’t look good last year, he is going into year 3, having two more cheap years left. It’s more likely the Bills pick up a vet option and/or a late round pick to come in and compete at training camp. We just have bigger needs, especially earlier in the draft.

I don’t think they need to invest another high pick in a RB either. Also Moss is useless, he’s a power back with not that much power.

    Cam Jurgens - C/G Nebraska
    Logan Bruss - C/G Wisconsin
Zion Johnson - C/G Boston College
Lecitus Smith - G Virginia Tech
Dohnovan West - C/G Arizona State
    Kenyon Green - C/G Texas A&M

Thanks. I like Jurgens a lot. Obviously Green and Zion would be the only guys in play in the 1st round, but seems like the Bills are gonna have to go corner in the 1st unless they sign someone CAPA ale of starting. I’m sure Beane has something up his sleeve.

While we're talking about backup QBs, I wonder what would have happened if Fromm hadn't chosen to leave for the Giants last year. I said it was a bad move and I was right. He should have stayed here as he was waiting in the wings to be the long-term backup. Now, he's without a team entirely because he chased the temporary money in a really unstable situation.

I don’t think Fromm was ever going to be the long-term backup.

Has to be drafting a guy, because the guard market is pretty much dried up.

I could see teams that signed guys maybe willing to trade their holdovers, say like the Panthers who signed Bozeman and Corbett. Perhaps they are willing to move 2021 draft pick Brady Christensen, high RAS guy who we could stick in at RG. Perhaps Christensen for AJ Epenesa, who would fit in well as a 5 tech in their 3-4.

The Bills have met with a lot of IOL so far this year. So the answer likely comes in the draft.

Who have they met with IOL wise? I know Zion for sure.

Ok, si the “no sack” streak started the next week…whenever Bates was added.

Ok, so in those last 3 regular season games he was 18th in pocket time, most pressures, and 4th in knockdowns, and had the lowest QB rating of his career at 17.0 vs. the Falcons. As others have said in the Bates thread, if the Bills valued him so highly all they needed to do as slap a 2nd round tender on him for 1.5 million more and they would have kept him for sure, but they didn’t.
