So, you're theorizing that it's easier to win 5 in a row than 12 in row. Interesting.

Not necessarily that interpretation of it. Just that a team is less likely to win a particular game based on how long the winning streak is. So if all things were equal a team would have a lower chance of winning the further along in the streak they are.  It would take some serious statistical  analysis and a look at how likely a team is to win in a given week (DVOA?). Someone may have compiled the data I'm referring to but I'm not going to put in the effort to find it.

Chiefs: 8 game win streak, only AFC team to clinch playoff spot

Colts: 8-2 over last 10 games after starting 1-4

Dolphins: First team to lose 7 straight games, then win 7 straight games in the same season. In a more progressive future, they could be the first team to win 7 gay games too! (Stole that joke from Brandon Perna on YT 😂)

    Bills: 2 game win streak...

    Yes, very quiet indeed!

The thing about winning streaks is that they inevitably come to an end. I'm not sure the statistics on it either, although it always seems that the longer the streak goes the harder it is to maintain. I.e winning the fifth in a row is easier than winning the twelfth, obviously the opponents have a lot to do with it but that's my perception of it

  3. @JoPoy88 @Chandler#81, et al. I've mulled it over today after lunch and I'm doubling down on my initial assertion that the Bills are quietly the hottest team in the NFL. After listening to some wgr and realizing just how proficient Josh has been along with the emergence of the run game and overall solid defensive play. The Bills have lost their last game this season and the win against the Pats in Foxborough is the type of game that defines seasons. The Bills are getting hot at the right time and the league is about to get put on notice

Ah. So you are being intentionally hyperbolic and dishonest to stir discussion, but then you also castigate people for calling you out (correctly) as hyperbolic and dishonest and tell them “my thread, if you don’t like it, don’t reply.”

So you’re a troll, in essence and in fact.

If that's what you'd like to call me, so be it.  If positivity and optimism are the triggers that get you and others upset, that says more about you and them than it does about myself.  It's also interesting to me that, in this instance, I'm the troll when you come into a thread started by me and attack me personally while posting comments not relevant to the thread itself. If you don't like the content you can choose to disregard it.

With all of this said I am enjoying the banter we find ourselves in and I hope you are too

KC can still beat anyone at anytime. Dolphins are gaining popularity after their defense once again demolished an offense tonight. But I'm sorry tua just doesn't scare me yet. Maybe down the road, but he still makes really bad mistakes and hinders his team alot. And the Dolphins don't have a Henry or Taylor running game so the qb can do minimal and beat elite teams.

It's funny that everyone talks about the Bills lack of balance on offense yet the Dolphins passing attack isn't anything to write home about. The defense does so much for that team to stay competitive

Why does obviously dumb stuff have to be upvoted?

Devin Singletary is better than Thurman Thomas. Upvotes because it’s a Bills board amirite?

You should have walked back to a reasonable perspective before hitting “post.”

If you don't like it, don't post in the thread. It's simple really. What I don't get is why you feel so compelled to get so upset about what someone else has to say on a message board. People are entitled to their opinions regardless of how you perceive them.

so what’s with your title then, since you just directly contradicted it.

It's called a hot take. Not sure if you've heard of them. They allow for discussions that might not normally happen because someone takes a stance that isn't necessarily popular or correct. Which I feel this thread has provided.

Why would a Bills fan get downvoted on a Bills board for posting pro-Bills stuff? Yeah it was a little pollyanna-ish but he's not totally wrong.

Weird vibes in Buffalo sometimes. When you can't knock the team, some people need to knock posters.

Honestly I make posts like these knowing that I'll face the vitriol of some board members, but I'm always more than happy to back up my opinions and even walk back to a more reasonable perspective depending on what other posters have to say

They just need to be on a 4 game win streak heading into the playoffs. That's all.

It's comforting to know that they're playing their best football heading into the postseason.

McD seems to get them right for the playoffs.

That's exactly how I'm feeling about it. As long as the Bills take care of business here they're gonna head into the playoffs with a ton of confidence, essentially winning 4 playoff games in a row to get to that point. Fingers crossed they finish the job the next two weeks.

But they didn't win the games. Look I'm not trying to be negative but you can't say they should have won games they didn't.

As for fearing Buffalo. I agree, but would say the same about Tampa, Green Bay, and KC because they all have top tier QBs. And that doesn't even include the Rams, Dallas, and Cincinnati all of which have at worst very good QBs.  I dont see any team that does not have a flaw.

I get it and admittedly the Bills probably aren't the hottest team in the league. If I had to name one, it would probably be KC, Colts, Rams, or GB.

There's still two weeks to go and the Bills could turn it on and look like world beaters, or worse, they could lose out and squeak into the postseason or miss it all together. While looking at the Bills objectively I'd prefer to stand on the positive side of things and make points to that regard. It's like you said all teams have flaws and to cast them aside because they afflict your favorite team is to wear the proverbial rose colored glasses.

Oh ok. Well the idea is that the Bills are one of the hottest teams in the league based off of recent performances, even though they've lost.

I wouldn't even say they're quietly hot. Everyone sees it but this message board 😮

They maybe were quietly hot before they played us and the amount of people bellyaching about how we lost to a "garbage team" was mind-blowing!

I'm not sure how many people were saying the Colts were a garbage team, but I don't recall much of that on the boards here. Honestly I remember a lot of 'I told you so's about the Bills run D and the team overall being overrated

The Bills haven't really put together a great game on both sides of the ball in some time.

The offense was great yesterday but the defense gave up five 4th down conversions and yielded some very long drives and 3 TD's to a pretty punchless Patriots offense.

Lot's of room for improvement there.

That's a fair assessment. Honestly I still don't the the Bills have fully hit their stride. I mean they've played great in this one and against the Chiefs earlier this year but it still feels like they have so much more in the tank. I'm just waiting for the game where they finally turn it all on and never look back

The Dolphins scare no one and the Colts are a legit team. My apologies for injecting some optimism into the aether.  I should just wallow in the 6 losses the Bills have collected and accept they'll never be the perfect team all of us fans so truly deserve..

Gave us problems? They destroyed us. Lol.

I highly doubt a game against them plays out the same as it did last time, everything went right for the Colts from the first snap and being a midseason game the Bills packed it in at the half. Another team who has given them trouble is the Titans. I'd honestly rather the Bills play the Chiefs than either of those two

  13. 6 minutes ago, Ethan in Portland said:

I'd say Kansas City is by far the hottest team.  They are destroying some teams and have solid wins over Green Bay, Dallas, and San Diego.  They took the dead corpse of Pittsburgh and hammered them without their second best player on the field.  This week they take on Cinci and it should be a good playoff type atmosphere game.

AFC Championship will run through KC again

Agree with others I would love to beat the dolphins for a third time in week 1 of the playoffs

There's a handful of teams playing good football right now and I'm just happy to see the Bills as one of those teams. Had the Bills won the two games mentioned they'd be considered by most as the team to beat in the AFC, again, they didn't, so the narrative is different. They'd literally have the same record as the chiefs with a H2H win against them meaning #1 seed in the AFC. Granted they lost both games in such dreadful fashion that most here hardly consider them a playoff team. So take from it what you will. I'm just saying there's no team in the NFL that wants to play the Bills in the playoffs!

  14. Simple premise here guys.

If not for once in a decade(?) type weather and the officials' blatant disregard for the rules of the game, the Buffalo Bills would be on a five game win streak headed into the final 2 games of the season. That's obviously not how it has played out and the bills have only won the last two games(in decisive fashion I might add) The two teams they lost to were, at the time, among the hottest teams in the league; one with a hall of fame coach and the other a hall of fame Quarterback and some might even say the GOATS. Yet the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen were within inches of walking away with a win in each contest.

Speaking of Josh Allen, does this kid have the Patriots number or what!? After yesterday's game he joined elite company (Peyton Manning?) in scoring three passing TDs in multiple games against New England in Foxborough. Also the Allen led Bills are the only team who has ever posted a game with Zero! punts against a Belichek coached team or defense in the NFL.

So to say the Bills are fizzling out, or they peaked too early is flat out wrong. This iteration of the Bills are primed and ready for some playoff football! So to all the 'realist' out there who expected a Bills loss in Foxborough, get real! You're just pessimists in sheep's clothing. Why don't you just join another fanbase of your just going to cry every week!

    Not so sure.

They're better equipped to stop our passing attack than we are to stop their running attack.

    But "on any giving Sunday..."

If early on I see the Pats running game getting plugged up and Josh finding receivers downfield (and getting the pass off before getting hit), I'll feel really good about our chances.

So basically you think the Bills are totally overmatched and have no shot at winning. Unless of course you see them winning, in which case it's most likely a fluke

Don't confuse negativity with realism.   Some folks here are consistently negative for sure.  But other people can see matchup problems when they exist and hence tend to correctly identify likely outcomes.

Last time they played the Bills lost a nail biter in which they had an opportunity to win at the end. Not saying anything about the weather.

As for matchups the Pats rushing offense is a plus for them and the Bills passing defense is a plus for the Bills, even without Tre.  The Bills passing offense is a plus for the Bills and the Pats rushing Defense is a plus for the Pats. Overall it shapes up to be an even matchup with the Bills probably edging out the Pats in terms of overall talent while the Pats have the edge in coaching.

So while I can see where you're coming from, the matchups aren't as abysmal as all of the 'realists' say they are. It's one thing to look objectively at things but to look only at how the Bills matchup negatively and determine they'll lose based solely on a few metrics is pessimistic to be honest. (From a fans perspective, the media who don't follow the team are irrelevant)

I'm expecting a tight game for the most part with the Bills coming out on top. Also, based on the teams' strengths and weaknesses, I'd be much less surprised if the Bills blowout the Pats than the other way around.

So why is it a surprise more experts now are picking the Pats?

Optimism. Sarcasm. Irony.  That's why it's surprising.

I guess I should just be so literal and dull that anyone who's negative on the boards can revel in their echo chamber

I was replying to your earlier post regarding Bills players who "haven't accomplished much" and "couldn't offer much in the way of guidance" (both pretty nebulous opinions). Now you're asking how many Bills vets have won Super Bowls - in essence, moving the goalposts.

If you want a roster full of SB winners combined with young pups "still cutting their teeth" in today's salary cup world, good luck with that.

I suppose the way I look at it is the ultimate goal of the Bills is to field a Superbowl winning team. While I may not have clearly stated what I meant in my previous statements, I have been using that as my barometer for the 'accomplishments' of which I speak. So your perception of me moving the goalposts has, in essence been me clarifying what my initial viewpoint was/is. My apologies for not clearly expressing what I meant initially.

To your second point, you're obviously not going to fill a roster with free agents who have Superbowl experience, the premise is absurd.  Therefore the way to have a roster of which you and I speak, is to first win a Superbowl and then to draft well. That gives you the experience and expectations of the now 'older' players and the young guns cutting their teeth.  So far the Bills have Championship game experience and need to take the next step. Will this be the year? Possibly! We won't know for another few weeks at the very least and about a month and half otherwise.

  19. 7 minutes ago, BuffaninSarasota said:

Hughes, Morse, Sanders, Diggs, Hyde, Star, Milano, & Poyer would respectfully disagree

Genuinely curious. How many Superbowls have those players collectively played in/won?

    Morse with KC?

    Sanders has a few

Maybe Hyde when he was with GB?

The point being that while some of these players have solid (not spectacular) individual accomplishments, not many on the roster have experienced sustained team success at a high level, in the NFL. Which is what the Bills as an organization are looking to build. So in that regard the Bills are still 'young' and cutting their teeth so to speak.
