I am greatful of the teams playoff appearances, winning the AFC East titles, and their regular season success. No doubt the teams success is great compared to the Bills previous losing ways. Don't you crave more? A Super appearance and a Lombardi Trophy.

I'm not advocating a total blow up. Everyone's idea of tweaking I suspect is relative and different. My main issue is that Beane went to the podium and basically stated they are going to run it back. No major coaching changes, hope for healthy players, hope for player development, hope for a few good moves in FA or the draft. Sell that dream...

A Fraizer's lead defense is incapable of stopping or containing the big boys in the playoffs. It's really just that simple. The sample size is there. Do you really think he's going to tweek the defense? The old saying is you can't teach and old dog new tricks. Fraizer really needs to go. Sometimes change us a positive thing.

Dorsey was taken to the woodshed in the playoffs. His offense and his schemes were pretty bad. Clearly, his "learning on the job" hurt the Bills chances this year. (A Daboll lead Bills O might have very well have gotten the Bills over the top.) The real reason the offense statistically did well was because of Allen despite Dorsey's ineptitude. How much better is he going to get? Are you confident in running it back with him?

I absolutely love Coach McD character and his ability to bond the team. However, the past two years I believe he's lost quite a lot in the football Xs and Os. Nevertheless, he's a very good coach and a better replacement will be a daunting task. I myself would prefer an offensive minded coach who could take Allen to another level. I don't see McD as that guy. He just doesn't seem to have that killer mentality. The old saying nice guys finish last. Coach McD priorities family, God, community, and being a great person over football. He's absolutely correct here. That doesn't sound like the Patriot way. Just throwing it out there for thought.

Running it back with a few tweeks likely doesn't get it done. Cinci is by far better than Buffalo. KC is better coached so they are better too. Miami, LA, Jags, and Jets may very well surpass the Bills.

If you are satisfied with making playoffs appearences and not making Super Bowl appearances this regime will excell. Until they can get over the hump I will remain skeptical. Next season just seems like groundhog day...

With that, I'm done expressing this viewpoint. I don't want to be a burden or a pain. Thanks for listening.

You certainly make a number of great points and with the current roster, maybe a change of such great magnitude (i.e. replacing McDermott) would indeed be the catalyst for the team to get over the hump.  I support replacing Frazier with a more aggressive DC and at this point would stand pat with Dorsey and McD.  In the regular season he seems to have that killer instinct but when the playoffs role around he goes into a more conservative approach and that hurts the team. Trying to play like that against top tier teams and bait them into mistakes isn't viable. You have to put pressure on the other team and force the issue rather than waiting on them to screw up.

This season I think was a bit anomalous with the team dealing with the Hamlin situation and the injuries to Hyde and Miller. A better DC can probably withstand the injuries through scheme and playcalling adjustments especially since they happened well before the team folded against the Bengals.

Ummmm…we certainly did make it to the AFC Championship game…but anyways you definitely don’t go through a 17 year playoff drought…have this level of consistent success…then fire the head coach and GM cause they haven’t won you a Super Bowl yet. Without them we most likely don’t have Josh or even a legit shot at a title like we do now. How silly it is yo even consider major changes in leadership. We just need to keep tweaking away.

When it comes to the top teams I think those tweaks and smaller adjustments are where you see the difference.  You don't tear down a house because of a leaky roof, you fix the roof and go from there. The Bills have the foundation to be a great to for a long time now and they have to find out where they can make a series of incremental changes that lead to better results. Whether that be playcalling, specific players, techniques, cleats and equipment, or any other of the litany of factors that affect the team on gameday.

  3. Another thing is that so many fans are always expecting the worst from the team. What's the term that's been coined for for it BBFS (Buffalo Bills Fans Syndrome)? Or something along those lines.  It's like if the Bills aren't blowing a team out by 20 points late in the 4th, these fans are waiting for the immanent collapse and for the boot to come down on the team.

Realistically up until Allen threw that pick in the Bengals game I didn't count them out. That's not to say I was confident they'd pull it out, on the contrary it looked like they were never in it to begin with. I just can't understand why anyone would be a fan if they had no faith in the team to win any game they're in until the result is finalized.

I don’t want to create holes on, what I consider, a defense with just above average talent. In my scenario drafting Robinson is mutually exclusive from any other moves that Beane makes. Simple put, I believe Robinson is the best player the Bills could select at their draft position. Certainly, if I could give up a draft pick next year vs this year to move up, I would do so.

At this point I'm not up to snuff on my draft knowledge so it's hard for me to determine what players will be valued where and how the draft might fall. I've heard a ton of Bijan hype and how he's essentially a generational type back. That said, the draft won't be made in a vacuum and the moves Beane makes or doesn't will determine what the Bills draft strategy will end up being. Unfortunately, we won't know how that looks until the lead up to the draft. Even still I'm opposed to giving up a 2, 3, or 4 this year to move up.

I don’t know what the draft trade values are moving up to the #20 draft slot. But I would gladly give up the #3 spot this year, and could be convinced to give up my #2 instead. My thinking is we have to jump in front of Dallas. I think Dallas will take Robinson to replace Elliott.

In your scenario are we bringing back the same O-Line or does the team upgrade in FA? If you do that Poyer and Edmunds are more than likely leaving and then you have 2 pretty big holes on the defensive side of things. Idk about spending assets this year when the biggest weakness was the O-Line and the 2nd and 3rd rounds are typically where you can find starting caliber players.

Even if Beane works some magic in FA I'd still rather trade a 2nd next year than even a 3rd this year. I'm thinking something like a 1st and 5th this year and a 2nd next year. If that's even enough to jump up to where he is available.

*I just checked the trade chart and that deal is just shy of the Seattle pick in terms of trade value 850-841. Maybe sweeten the deal with another 5th next year

There might be interest from other teams in signing him to a reasonable FA contract, but with the starting point $32M (for the franchise tag) and a 1st rounder, it's a non-starter.  Jones would be wise to test the market and the Giants let him do so, telling him to give them the right to match any offer.

The first is definitely a tough sell for any team but they'd give it up with the intent to sign a long term deal and wouldn't have to use that pick for an impact player this year, since they added Jones to the roster.  The biggest downside I can see would be Jones getting salty and then having a Kirk Cousins situation.

Fingers crossed it happens and he ends up with the Jets

In this year's draft I don't expect there will be a round-one-rated Olineman or WR fall to the Bills. That being said, the Bills will have a shot to draft a top-five talent in Bijan Robinson. Adding Robinson to a backfield with Josh Allen might be illegal. If Robinson falls to 20, I would go so far as to trade up for him. GO BILLS!!!!!

What would you give up in a trade to get him? I might be on board depending on how free agency shakes out in regards to the O-Line. If it was a 2 or 3 next year that's not bad value in terms of getting better this year. They could still then add a WR in the 2nd and a OL, S, or LB in the 3rd.

    Tag him?  No chance.

Genuinely curious, why not? Cap space, tagging Saquon?

If there's some interest from multiple teams wouldn't that be the way to go, especially if you're on the fence about re-signing him.  It gives you imo more options on how to proceed with him but it does limit the team in terms of financials and possibly creates bad blood between him and the Giants.

What I’m trying to say is enjoy this ride we are on.

Exactly. The team as it stands is going to be in the running for a Superbowl for the next 10-15 years. There's no reason to get depressed because they "missed their window", it's still wide open.

Of course comparing this regime to past ones is stupid!

But good luck enjoying those 50+ Super Bowl victories before you die.

You must be young.  Wait a while!  Soon you'll be begging for one before you die too.

    😂

I've been a fan through the whole playoff drought and while the seasons as a whole wasn't the most fun after October most years, I still thoroughly enjoyed the offseason and drafts. The NFL does a good job keeping fans, even of crappy teams, entertained

31 teams will fail this year. If a fans view of this team is just of if they win a SB, they are missing something special.

This team is really good, we’ve been waiting for this for a while. There is so much that goes into winning a Championship, and luck is one of the key components.

Seriously! Less than 2/3 of the teams in the league have a Superbowl and so many people act like without one this year it's never going to happen. News flash the Bills for the foreseeable future will be in running for a Superbowl and whether or not they get one in the next year, 3 years, or 10 years won't matter. If they even get one at all.

If they never win a Superbowl I'll still be a fan. Can you say the same?

People can’t help but to compare the old with the new. I think its human nature. But clearly the 90’s team has ZERO bearing on this team or it’s potential or anything else EXCEPT…the fans (which includes the old players). With that said, all this ridiculous talk about making changes at the top needs to cease.

We just tied for the most wins in franchise history. Talk of firing Beane or McDermott is some of the most foolish gibberish I’ve heard in a long while. People talking about us “wasting” our opportunities or anything of that nature when Josh is only 26 (historically the best QBs play their best football years older than 26) and locked up for the next 6 years is asinine conversation.

How about being happy this regime has made us perennial contenders and are always seeking to improve? Do any of you complainers realize we already have one of the longest playoff streaks in the league? Stop the foolish talk already!

I can't see McD or Beane going anywhere anytime soon and I'm on board with that. The team is structured so well from an administrative and foundational standpoint, that most, if not all, fans have no comparison.

I'd love to see a more aggressive defense next year and that's about it. In terms offensive production/philosophy I'm on the side that says give Dorsey a pass this year. Clearly more than just gameplan affected the team this year on numerous occasions. The post season meltdowns have hopefully provided Frazier with his ticket out but I'd it doesn't there's still a ton of talent on D that can make plays.

Hey pal, I'm 73 and I have yet to see the Bills win the Super Bowl. It's not a "sick joke" to me.

I never said it was "to you". You are 70+ and therefore outside of the demographic I was referring to

  13. I get that a lot of Bills fans love to reminisce about the old days and Kelly and the K-gun and the great D with Bruce and HOF caliber players all over the field. But this incessant nonsense comparing the team now to a team that played together 30 years ago IS A JOKE.

Get over your nostalgia and live in the moment. The Bills weren't good enough this year. It's that simple.  I'm so sick of people trying to justify the fact that they weren't the best team in NFL by the fact that 30 years ago things 'felt' similar.

As much as the next guy/gal I want to see the Bills take the next step to win a championship and win a Superbowl it wasn't their year.

    It sucks.

We've all here spent countless hours on TSW and are frustrated. However, saying this team can only follow a specific path to glory is asinine. The team has talent and with some upgrades here and there (OL, WR, etc) will be in the thick of things for years to come.

How many people have said 1 B4 I die!? Unless your 70+ years old what kind of sick joke is that. I want to see 50+ before I die and hope I live past 80 years old so I can see them all!

So many Bills fans are so scared to let go of the past and it's infuriating.  If you can't let go of the past how can you grasp

     the future.

The Bills didn't live up to expectations this year, how many of you can say the same.

Watching the Cincy game its clear Burrow isn't as talented as Allen but there's such structure to the play calling.

True. Dorsey certainly doesn't do Allen many favors with the playcalls, a lot of times it's kind of 'go out there and make a play Josh' instead of 'here's an easy 7 yard completion for you'. It would be nice to have a more balanced attack with more runs sprinkled in but I think it's baked into the offensive philosophy of let Josh be Josh. Give him the opportunity to make plays and more often than not, he will.  When you run the ball or have those designed plays to hit a 5 yard out it takes away those opportunities for Josh to make magic happen.

Thats the thing.  They keep committing bone headed mistakes and the coaches doing head scratching things.  It's been going on for too long.  It's an issue and for me it feels like inadequate coaching is the root.

We are squeaking out wins against inferior teams.

I mean you could technically consider most, if not all, teams inferior to the Bills, as even before the season they've been heralded as Superbowl favorites and have finished as the 2* seed in the AFC.

Every team they play against is giving maximum effort to get up for the Bills this season. The mistakes they're making are certainly frustrating but that's on the players moreso than the coaches. It's predominantly execution error rather than play calling that's the main issue. McDermott might not always challenge the plays that you want or call inopportune timeouts, but no coach is perfect.

To say that the coaching is an issue disregards the fact that they've won 13 games this year and were a cancelled game away from the 1 seed which was the  goal for the regular season. Despite all of the adversity they faced.

At this point it's a new season and the Bills are 1-0 playing against a division rival with a ton of bad blood. I'd imagine that the Dolphins know the Bills better than any other team in the league.

There's so many factors that go into each game and every week presents new challenges, and I'm confident that the Bills can weather any storm and will be in a position to win every game they're in

  16. 11 minutes ago, White Linen said:

They aren't God awful but the team seems more disjointed than coming together for a super bowl.

Fair enough, I'm in the opinion that they clean up the crappy turnovers, the smoke pick and josh fumble (I consider the Beasley pick more random chance than the others) they win this, and most other games going away.

  17. 9 minutes ago, appoo said:

Yea agreed without those Turnovers this just isn’t a game.

But the Bills do struggle woth protection, and long term if you struggle with that, you turn the ball over

For sure. The Bills haven't played a clean game in too long, as long as they keep winning imo it doesn't matter. The Bills are a gritty win at any cost team and it has shown through the current win streak. Anyone who thinks the Bills are an 'easy out' or will be a walk in the park are frankly idiots. They will be in the game with a chance to win until the very end regardless of circumstance.
