I was going to dismiss it - but looking at it closely, it is not so bad.

The main reason it is not so bad is that the Bills are likely to pick around 30 next year while the Panthers should pick around 40 - so the move up this year is only at the cost of moving down about 10 slots. Stated like that it appears we are the ones fleecing. Of course we give up a first rounder with a a 5th year guaranteed - that evens things up a bit. Otherwise, trading future firsts is like waving a red flag to a bull (and I am one of the bulls).

OP - if you add this analysis to your post, folks here may be a bit kinder in their evaluations:)

Those were my thoughts exactly! Although I didn't necessarily convey them like you did here. It's obviously risky and there's almost a zero percent chance of it happening.

    I wouldnt do this.

there are going to be so many players in next years draft due to the extra year of eligibility due to covid.

I want to have as many picks as possible for next year

We'd still have the same amount of picks and with more players coming out. The talent drop off would probably be comparable from the trade down next year to the trade up this year

The mere mention of future 1sts kills this discussion immediately. Off the table. Not an option.

I wouldnt mind giving up most of the remaining picks this year to move up and get a guy tho.

    I'd do this:

Bills receive        Team X (Carolina) receives

    39                        61

    73                        93

                                161

                                174

                                213

                                236

I don't hate it but then those picks absolutely need to be impact players. If it were for friermuth and then a CB2 whoever drops wouldn't be bad. I'd like to keep a 5th and 6th if possible for a 1t and a speedy offensive player

giving up future firsts has to be for better stuff than moving up in the 2nd IMO

I mean we'd be moving up in the 3rd too and getting an early 4th.

I just feel like there might be a huge drop off in talent and this would prevent us from missing out

  5. The way the draft is looking I think it would be beneficial to trade up in the 2nd and 3rd rounds to ensure the Bills get contributors.

How this gets accomplished is a bit of a conundrum.. so I got to thinking how to make this work.

    The idea that sprung to mind was to trade next year's 1st, this year's 2nd, 3rd, 5ths, and 6th for a 2nd next year, and a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th this year.

It would have to be after a few picks go in the 2nd tonight but I think the value is close.  It would look something like this when it's all said and done

Bills receive        Team X (Carolina) receives

    39                        61

    73                        93

    113                      161

                                174

                                213

    2022 2nd            2022 1st

The draft is light on talent this year with all of the opt outs and next year should have higher end players available in the second compared to this year.  So the drop off isn't as significant losing a first next year since more (better) players will be available.  The likelihood of this happening is probably negligible but a man can dream

  6. I'd love to come away with either Freiermuth or Meinerz in the second and one of Adebo, St Juste, or Melifonwu in the third.

Then on day 3 pick up Marvin Wilson, or Tyler Shelvin, then Amon Ra St brown, Simi Fehoko, or Anthony Schwartz.  Maybe a safety prospect after that and I'd be ecstatic

Somehow managed to trade down and still get Jaelan Phillips (probably fell because of injury concerns). Considering I lucked into 2 top DE prospects, I think Hughes or Addison would get cut after this draft. Would have preferred to get a corner a bit higher, but I think Dane Jackson looked good enough to wait until the later rounds. I got a ton of late picks who can duke it out for roster spots, considering this year we'll have OTA's and an actual preseason.

Honestly I like the trade down for jaelin phillips but the rest of it is kinda meh and there's no way the draft 15 players

Really like this one. Everyone in the first 3 rounds was great value and really I just liked the way this one fell

I feel the opposite. I think Motor will surely get the bulk of the carries in the first 4 games.  After the first 4 games is when moss will be more experienced and on a more level playing field.

I think we’re going to see a carry share similar to what we saw in Carolina with Williams and Stewart.  I always thought Williams was the better back and deserved the lions share of the carries.  While Williams usually got more, is wasn’t by a lot, partly because of injuries and partly because (I’m assuming) he was only 207lbs, like motor.

2020, I think Motor is the guy with Moss increasing his reps throughout the year. 2021 could be closer to a split, but I think motor will be the go to guy.

i think we nailed it drafting them back to back years in rd 3.  Both very dangerous RBs

Williams and Stewart was an awesome backfield. If Singletary and Moss can give that type of return no one would complain about that!

If we’re talking everyone’s 100% healthy motor runs away with carries, yards, but Allen is still gonna snipe some touchdowns in the red zone.
I’ll estimate motor at 1150 yards rushing 350 receiving with 6 rushing touchdowns and 2 receiving. Top 10-15 for the season.

Those numbers would certainly be sweet. 1500 total yards and 8 TDS I guess it depends on his carries and usage but I could definitely see him hitting it. I'm not sure what that leaves for Moss. If he put up and 600-800 on the ground and 200 receiving this year, to go along with 6 tds, we're looking at a top backfield.

  10. The first four games will probably give us the answer. If Singletary balls out early on the season there's no reason to think Moss would eat into his workload.  On the other hand if he looks average and/or Moss just explodes on the scene it might play out differently.

Either way I'm excited to see how the backfield looks this year. By the end of the year I think the Bills will be talked about as a potentially explosive offense and a lot of the credit will go to the running game

  11. Personally, I think Zack Moss will end up having a pretty impressive season, not sure if it'll be enough to dethrone Singletary though. Devin really started to come on strong late last year and he could follow it up with a big year.  Also, I could see Wade getting some action and breaking off some big gainers not that he'll really take any significant carries away from the other two.

You realize that NFL players are just people, right?  You are missing the point completely.  Maybe someone doing their political grandstanding on their employers platform might not bother you as an individual, but if it causes a problem for the business, its not fair to the employer.  There is a time and a place for everything, especially when you are representing a business for compensation.

I'm not missing the point in the least we just have different perspectives on it. The NFL as an employer gives it's employees the opportunity to express opinions by grandstanding themselves and making a spectacle of the whole ordeal. People would still watch if there were no anthem or flyovers.

The NFL, in particular, and major league sports, in general are completely different beasts than your average employers. The NFL as an organization isn't a fair model for it's employees where players are treated like cattle and drafted by teams they might not want to play for, all for the 'privilege' to continue their employment.

The visibility of the platform that these athletes perform on is absolutely astronomical.  So yes, while they are still people, the impact they have due to their  profession is much greater than almost all other people around the world.

What are you saying?  You are elevating NFL players to a higher standard than the middle class, or "regular people" in general?  To be "the pinnacle" of any profession requires exceptional effort, not just for people that play a game for a living.  Its also a privilege.  So I guess what you saying, is if your out to eat and your waiter wants to promote Trump, your'e good with that?

Yes if my waiter or waitress whether lgbtq decides to promote anyone they wish it would not affect the 'quality' of the meal I ordered.

Also is the waiter's or waitress', in question, performances being scrutinized by millions of people worldwide..

Realistically yes someone who is world renowned should be held to a different standard than someone who is only truly known by his or her close family and/or friends

So you are fine with the anthems and the fly pasts but not with a protest you disagree with?

Exactly.  People like to think these things are mutually exclusive so they can have one without the other.

It baffles me how many people equate their jobs/professions with that of an NFL player.  They train tirelessly for their entire lives to reach 'the pinnacle' of their profession yet (you) as a middle class (insert profession here) believe that the conduct of you both  should be held to the same standard

The biggest point of this came from kneeling a few years ago. I think it is great the players have a cause they feel so much about. Their choice of kneeling gametime alienated many people. After their work hours have at it, but not when the fans that pay to see the game and relax (get away from it all) are there. If people want to enjoy the game but gameday the NFL and players are pushing it, where is the enjoyment for the fans?

So what you're saying is that, essentially a minute and a half of someone expressing an opinion, that you don't like, completely ruins a 3+ hour (180+ minute) event for you!?

YOU and people like you are the problem

I would say the opposite. Bowden to me is a lower ceiling version of Gibson. I'm not particularly interested in either. Gibson is a 4th-5th round guy to me. I don't think I'd really draft Bowden at all; I just don't see it with him. Equally raw but less explosive with the ball in his hands.

Really I wouldn't want either one before the  4th, preferably 5th. It's tough gaging how the draft is going to shake out with everything that's going on and all of the playmakers in the draft this year

  17. I think a similar player with more upside is Lynn Bowden.  He was poised to have a breakout season on the biletnikoff and hornung watchlist, injuries to the top 2 QBs on the Kentucky roster forced him to play QB.

His stock dropped but he mostly played as a running back while throwing occasionally.  From what I've seen I believe he's going to come in and make a huge impact.  Hopefully for the Bills
