U.S.A 6 Slovakia 1 at World Jr. Hockey Championships
millbank replied to millbank's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Relegated at World Junior Hockey Championships means relegated to play in consolation rounds and not move on to playoff rounds. It is all a moot point as Team U.S.A beat Sweden in overtime to earn place in playoff round, where today they beat Finland and now will move on to play team Canada in Semi- Finals , the winner will play against the winner of Russia vs Sweden for World Junior Championship. The team has pulled it together nicely, to have been relegated to consolation round would not have looked good on U.S.A hockey. They are now two wins from being Champion. -

Coach Knight most wins 880 The crowd already was on its feet and the cheers turned louder. Knight did a television interview, then My Way by Frank Sinatra blared, a not-so-subtle reminder of Knight's personal and professional credo. Soon, red confetti fell and a ceremony began. Knight singled out Alan Voskuil, who made a key play down the stretch, then tapped the chin of forward Mike Prince, the player who Knight made contact with in a game earlier this season, and then motioned to his wife, Karen, to join him on the court. "The first 15 minutes of the game was Karen's game plan," he said of his wife, a former high school coach. "The rest of it was mine, unfortunately. I just say thank you."

GM receives Goats Head Palermo is third in the Italian league standings and having one of its best ever seasons. But Foschi didn't think the head was from the mafia. "I don't have anything to do with that stuff, those are things you see in films," Foschi said. "I've lived in Palermo for five years and I've never received any threats. I feel safe in Palermo. I don't have anything to fear. - Does sound like an offer he can't refuse. Time will tell...

clearly you should be hung as well, nail you right up on a wall and throw things at you.... I gather your teacher discussed this distinction as there were times she wondered which would be best for you, given what I imagine to be a precocious young man, ( no change now)

World Jr. Hockey Championships Jonathan Toews and Darren Helm each scored twice Wednesday to lead Canada to a 6-3 win over the U.S. at the world junior hockey championship. Canada tops Pool A with its second win in as many days for six points. The Americans have only one point after opening the tournament with a shocking 2-1 overtime loss to unheralded Germany.

Kevin Gilbride to take over Giants Play calling
millbank posted a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kevin Gilbride takes over Giants play calling With his offense sputtering, his players in need of a spark and his team playing a must-win season finale, Coach Tom Coughlin today announced that quarterbacks coach Kevin Gilbride will call the offensive plays when the Giants visit the Washington Redskins in the regular season finale Saturday night. The 7-8 Giants have lost six of seven games, but can virtually clinch an NFC Wild Card playoff berth by beating the Redskins in FedEx Field. Gilbride assumes the play-calling duties from offensive coordinator John Hufnagel, who has called the plays since he joined the team with Coughlin in 2004. Hufnagel will continue in an administrative role with the offensive staff. “I’m hoping it sparks us to win a game – win a football game,” said Coughlin, who made the decision to change play callers on Sunday night after the Giants' loss to New Orleans. -

It is interesting that many Americans and media pay so little attention or give any respect to arguably hockeys most important and competitive tournament.

World Jr. Championships Goaltender Carey Price stopped 31 shots for the shutout in Canada's 2-0 win over host Sweden to open the world junior hockey championship Tuesday. Price extended the country's shutout streak at this tournament to 211 minutes 50 seconds, as Canada hasn't give up a goal since its final round-robin game of the 2006 world junior tournament in Vancouver. Moncton Wildcats defenceman Luc Bourdon and Val-d'Or Foreurs forward Brad Marchand scored for Canada. Val-d'Or defenceman and Canadian captain Kristopher Letang each had two assists. The Canadians played a textbook road game by scoring first to quiet the Swedish crowd at Ejendals Arena, winning the battle on special teams and getting quality goaltending from Price of the Tri-City Americans. The Bourdon and Marchand goals came on power plays and Canada's penalty killers held the Swedes scoreless on seven man-advantages. The tournament opened with stunning upsets as Germany got by the U.S. 2-1 in overtime in a Pool A game in Leksand and Belarus stung Finland 4-3 in Mora in Pool B. Next Up: Wednesday at 1:00 pm Canada - U.S.A

Our area is home to numerous church groups all who as groups of children and adults visit the area homes to Christmas Carol. Its always nicer when family travel about via horse drawn sled , this year not possible given the mild weather. Still it is always special to have so many visitors caroling. Thus the last songs I heard today came from a group of beaming children between 6 -10 years old.

NHL Changes being considered * A reduction in the number of divisions from six to four. There would still be an Eastern Conference and a Western Conference, but there were would one eight-team division and one seven-team division in each conference. * The top two teams in each division would be guaranteed the top four playoff seeds within the conference with four wild card playoff berths going to the teams with the next highest point totals. * The four new divisions would be configured primarily along the lines of time zones. The theory is not only would this benefit teams in terms of travel, but could also boost TV ratings because game times in the same time zone would be more favorable. * The current Northeast Division (Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Buffalo and Boston) would remain intact and add two other teams to form a seven-team division. Sources say Pittsburgh is one of those teams that would join the Northeast teams. * The current Atlantic Division (the three New York area teams plus Philadelphia) would be melded together with four teams from the current Southeast Division (all but one of Washington, Carolina, Atlanta, Tampa Bay and Florida). * The eight-team division in the Western Conference would feature all teams in Pacific or Mountain time zones (Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Anaheim, Los Angeles, San Jose, Colorado and Phoenix). * The seven-team division in the Western Conference would feature teams that are in either the Central or Eastern time zones. * As for the schedule, it is said to be a little more complicated than it currently is, because of the uneven number of teams in the divisions, but each team will apparently play its division rivals six times each and its conference rivals either three or four times each and non-conference teams once each.

A few days now, sore throat, headaches, sore legs, Mexican five step, ache from top of my head to tip of my toes, still have to milk the cows though. Apple cider vinegar helps somewhat with the throat, swish around the strongest combination of vinegar and water then swallow it quick

Miss USA given second chance by Trump Donald Trump said Tuesday he will allow Miss USA Tara Conner to keep her title. Miss USA Tara Conner had come under fire amid reports she has visited bars, though she is not yet 21. Conner turned 21 on Monday, the legal drinking age in New York. In a statement last week, Paula M. Shugart, the president of The Miss Universe Organization, owned by Trump and NBC, said officials would evaluate Conner's "behavioral and personal issues to see what we can do to work with her and what we will do about her reign going forward." The Miss Universe Organization is owned by Trump and NBC. Trump said at a news conference Tuesday that though Conner had made bad mistakes, she deserves a second chance. She would undergo therapy for her problems, Trump said.
