  1. McFarland ??? He was cut before the season started. You mean Pennington? Gandy is weak. Need an upgrade at both guards, but that's a position you can upgrade via free agency...don't know if I'd spend a high pick on a guard. Pennington needs work, but looks to have potential. Would like to see Merz get some time. Has Butler played a down?
  2. I wouldn't get too carried away on this one, but I will say the coaching staff picked the right game to unleash JP. I think he's been handcuffed against the better opponents so as not have a negative impact on his confidence. This game was a huge boost to JP's confidence, as well as the O-Line. Hope JP and the offense can build on this one.
  3. Pennington vs. Mario Williams...when Pennington was one-on-one with Williams he held his own. Not bad for a 7th rounder vs. the #1 overall pick. Pennington is gaining valuable experience. I like the youth movement.
  4. Preseason offense is always vanilla. The first team offense and defense looked like they were struggling with new playbook. Holcomb was atrocious. The starting O-line remains a serious problem that I can't see improving much before the opener. I liked Losman's mobility. With a turnstile for a line, they're going to need a more mobile quarterback. Looks like we may see a little more from the TE's this year. I liked that...more options. Seemed like there were a lot of openings in the middle of defense in the cover-2. If that's by design, opponents will have no problem exploiting that defense. Kyle Williams was relentless at times. Looks like a good player. I thought Lionel Gates played pretty well. Sam Aiken played well on both offense and ST. Other than that, not much more to get excited about. Hopefully, we'll see improvement next week. I think we've all lowered our expectations. I certainly have.
  5. Link: Monday Morning QB "After talking to Buffalo GM Marv Levy, I'm thinking there might be a bit of a learning curve for him. When Levy took the job, he told owner Ralph Wilson, 'I've never done this before. I've got a lot to learn.'' Those can't be comforting words for Bills Nation. I'll tell you what Levy can do that would help the coaches he hires: Be the buffer between Wilson and the head coach. Let's just say that Wilson's phone calls to Tom Donahoe and the last couple of Bills coaches -- sometimes many calls per day -- took up a lot of time that could have been used for football. I asked Levy what he was looking for in a head coach. "Let's see,'' he said. "Vince Lombardi? I'm not looking for a defensive guy or an offensive guy. I'm looking for the best coach.''
  6. Unfortunately, this is weak free agency year for O lineman.
  7. This has to be one of the dumbest posts of the entire year. Go back in your hole please.
  8. Interesting tidbit from KFFL (Profootballtalk.com) on Modrak...take it for what it's worth. Apologies if this has already been posted. MODRAK A NO-GO IN BUFFALO? Our suggestion that Tom Modrak might succeed Tom Donahoe as the G.M. in Buffalo has drawn a harsh reaction from one league insider. "He is one of the biggest frauds in the league," the source said of Modrak. "All he is is an extension of Donahoe. Can't think for himself but he sure knows how to bullsh-t and he may be stabbing Donahoe in the back. "He is also a very lazy scout," the source opined. "Never does his research. Looks at one tape and forms an opinion. In my view a total joke, but then again, Ralph Wilson has a history of hiring jokes to be his G.M." The source also predicts that former Modrak colleague Bobby DePaul would not go to work for Modrak, since Modrak once fired DePaul when they both were in Philly. kffl.com
  9. Traded for a 3rd round pick and a dime bag. Travis Trade
  10. News out of NYC today via WFAN that Quincy Carter has re-entered drug rehab this weekend. Heard it on the radio this morning, but can't find a link. I'd pass on this guy.
  11. Misleading stats look great on a resume... "... Before coming to New Orleans, Sheppard spent the 2001 season as the offensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills. Under his guidance the Bills finished 13th in the NFL in total offense..." Rumor had it that Donahoe was in the box helping him call plays on gameday when he was here. Pathetic. Good luck New Orleans. New Saints OC
  12. Went to Maui on my honeymoon. Spent 10 days there. Lots to do and great food. Rented a convertible and took in the scenery. My wife and I loved it. We'd go back there again.
  13. I'll agree that I'm in denial...While a move of the franchise is definitely a possibility, how many cities are left that can support an NFL franchise? All the major market cities are taken except for LA. If LA doesn't get an expansion team (expansion teams pay huge franchise fees to NFL owners), then Buffalo is a possiblity for relocation to LA, but are Arizona, San Diego, New Orleans, and Indy less of a possibility that Buffalo?
  14. He didn't get the screen pass right either....he went left and the protection went to the right. Don't remember the exact point in the game when it happened. The play had potential for good yardage.
