  1. There is a misconception that the U.S. Constitution applies only to U.S. citizens. Some passages and phrases in our laws explicitly state only “citizens” are afforded certain rights, such as the right to vote. When the terms “resident” or “person” is used instead of citizen, the rights and privileges afforded are extended to protect citizens and non-citizens alike. Moreover, protections under the 14th Amendment ensure that no particular group is discriminated against unlawfully. Do I like it? No, but either you follow the Constitution on everything or nothing.
  2. Calling shareholders "investors" has to stop too. Buying a share of stock puts absolutely no money into the company, but it always draws a dividend(if offered). The actual "investing" happens long before a company becomes public. The shareholders are all part owners. I know it's just semantics, but it makes the simp arguments appear much better than they actually are.
  3. On it's face, it surely appears to be excessive, but only from the tilted 2-tiered justice point of view that favors the wealthy. I'm almost certain that isn't going to change anytime soon.
  4. I just told you how to make it work better. You can agree or disagree with that.
  5. When across the street is exactly the same, and run by a different member of the oligopoly, then there really isn't much freedom of choice at all. Like everything, corporate greed needs checks and balances. The free market and competition doesn't work when there is collusion at the top with no organization of the workers at the bottom to check it.
  6. I'm fairly sure any judge is going to find that him not wanting to sell off assets to pay his fines is a ridiculous argument, especially considering he tried to move assets to Florida after he was instructed not to. Alina Habba is a hack, but this is likely just a political move by trump to garner more sympathy.
  7. The only problem with your argument is that it's punitive in that it's to punish the behavior as well as compensate the victim. Sort of the same issue as there is with bail. Would a $5000 fine punish trump or curb the behavior? A $5000 fine would, however, cripple anyone living check to check. So the question is, what really is "excessive"? One could argue that because his wealth is excessive, the damages are not excessive to him.
  8. There are programs for this already, and I've worked with some of these people. Ultimately, that burden lies on the workers who have to work with these people, and the owner gets credit for being a good community businessperson and maybe a lil subsidy to boot.
  9. Do you dispute that the topic is in bad taste? How about a topic called, 'has your kid been killed in a school shooting yet?' C'mon man.
  10. There hasn't been much details other than that he wants to change the language of the aid to be a loan for Ukraine.
  11. There's also a cultural issue. There's always been a percentage of kids too cool for school, but that group seems to be larger now. Dangerous minds gave us insight into this 30 years ago. The parents in the community need to be the catalysts, so again it falls back into the laps of the parents. The kids with disabilities have special resources, and health-care(thanks libs) to help deal with their disabilities. Capitalism isn't going to be kind to them no matter what.
  12. Do you think workers are immune to the innate greed, that you're saying exists? When they do express it, the oligarchs have conditioned the not so smart workers to exclaim, COMMUNIST! When that method fails, they start a war.
  13. If a thread wasn't made in bad taste, it wouldn't be an NC thread.
  14. Sadly, wages were increasing with inflation, but that was short lived. It's almost like people held out as long as they could, and are now taking what they can get. The average worker, with a low income, has absolutely no power over any of his conditions. This is why THEIR government needs to step in. Unfortunately, the oligopoly has taken over their government, leaving them powerless.
  15. Trickle down isn't working. They've figured out how to stop the leaking. The only way to make trickle down work is unions, that force it to trickle. We had the wage and wealth gaps before the pandemic. Capitalism can only hide behind covid for so long. When profits start suffering, that's when I'll start worrying about the poor corporate oligarchs and their shareholders.
  16. Imagine being so dumb, that you think the government shouldn't be able to keep national security issues, such as nuke codes, off of social media. LOL Luckily even the conservatives on the court realize this. I'm actually surprised that a few dummies brought this issue to court, rather then let it play out for the dummies through Fox news instead.
  17. Stop asking why we have inflation, and start asking why wages aren't keeping up with it, while profits soar. Wealth gap anyone?
  18. I think you said you were in the same boat as me in that your vote is pretty much worthless, because you're not in a swing state, so AGAIN, don't blame me. At first I HATED Lutz for what he was doing to politics. I've since realized don't hate the player, but hate the game.
  19. Pretty sure I said from the get-go I thought he wasn't doing a good job?? My only point was he didn't invent the immigration problem, he just amplified it. It doesn't need to be standalone. Johnson is now looking at the aid package, and is just tweaking the language to be a loan for Ukraine. Why it's not a loan for Israel is beyond me, but he could have changed the language weeks ago and got this done already.
  20. You're just not smart enough to get it. I should have known. I remember the Jetsons, when we dreamed about robots making cars. Now you're arguing that we won't have jobs if machines make the cars. LOL
  21. Do you know who Frank Lutz is? This is nothing new at all. It's been going on for like 40+ years. Not only do they find their voters by what issues they present, but also the best way to present the issue to get the voters. Again, it seems you're blaming me for the reality of the situation.
  22. All the blame for the leftists, and none of the blame for the "profit" businesses who are making money hand over fist and could EASILY pay a minimum wage, which has been PROVEN to be possibly the greatest labor tool ever produced by man, aside from safety restrictions. Now go cry SOSHULIST! from the mountaintops, because that's EXACTLY what they want a good simp to do. You know who ends up paying for their under-paid drivers needs, while they live high on the hog? YOU, so you end up with socialism either way. If you want to know what the cherry on top is, they lobby your politicians for TONS of money: The General Services Administration, the procurement arm for the federal government, granted the five-year contract to Uber and Lyft, the companies confirmed. The contract is worth up to $810 million, though it’s unclear how much each company will receive.
  23. I think we're past discussing that Biden has done a lousy job, and are onto what can be done to fix it. Unless of course if you want to keep harping.
  24. True, but that's how politics works, and this is PPP.
  25. So how long do you expect tariffs to keep automation from happening? Do you realize horse ranchers probably were saying tariffs for automobiles at one point? How'd that work out? So not only will the consumer be paying more for "hand-made" cars, but also paying a tariff on it? You'd be a great businessman.
