  1. I agree in part. That is a large factor in the conservative nature of the offense. However, it doesn’t explain the lack of identity, or ridiculous play calling decisions. Daboll has a tendency of trying to outsmart himself. I saw his philosophy compared to Mike Martz on this forum by others, and I agree. He’s over complicating things, as opposed to doing what makes sense. He called a better game on Sunday, but there were still some ludicrous red zone play calls. The type of calls that result in losses against better opponents.
  2. I’d feel far more confident about our ability to improve if I had any belief in Daboll. Sadly, the more I see of him the less I believe, and I’m not convinced this offense can improve much with him calling it.
  3. It’s just tough because you need offense to win playoff games. During the McD years we usually have a solid defensive game plan, but you need to score. Typically playoff team comes equipped with offense that can score points. Our offense is below average, and regardless of the D, what playoff team are we beating when we can’t score? I’m simply enjoying the ride to the playoffs. We are likely playoff bound, and after all the drought years that feels great. It’s just disheartening to see so little improvement being made on the offensive side of the ball. Our fate as a one and done playoff team feels sealed at this point without improvement, and to personally that takes away some of the suspense of the season.
  4. I agree with Daboll being a major issue. I just don’t think it’s fair to act like Jackson doesn’t deserve more credit when compared to Josh. Every team in the NFL takes bad losses such as the Ravens loss to the Steelers. Fans and media simply remember signature wins against quality opponents more than one off bad losses to subpar teams. Allen has yet to pull off a win that makes anyone outside of Buffalo take notice. Plus, Jackson has been better than Allen this season, but that’s a separate debate in and off itself.
  5. I’ve been a big Josh Allen fan since last season. I didn’t like the draft pick, and he slowly won me over after seeing him play in a Bills uni. I have no agenda against Allen. I want to see him succeed, and he has all the tools to be an amazing QB. That’s what separates him from our past failures such as Losman, Edwards, Fitz, and Manuel. He certainly has potential, but at some point you need to see the guy show ability to carry a team to victory. How long do you get to proving that ability? He looked unprepared for the big stage against the Pats, and I look forward to seeing if that changes in future big games. You’re correct, his story has yet to be written. I simply think many people, myself included become nervous considering our past failures at the QB position. Allen simply needs to start showing something. Conservative game plans such as the one against Washington don’t give him that chance, but he will eventually be forced to win a game. That’s what will teach us more about what we have going into the offseason.
  6. Results aren’t identical when you look at who they beat. The Ravens are capable of winning in the playoffs, does anyone really believe this Bills team is? This is 2017 all over again.
  7. For a guy who so many TBD’ers say can’t throw the ball, those numbers vs Allen’s do say a lot.
  8. I still like Allen’s potential, but I don’t understand the common TBD narrative that Allen is somehow at Jackson’s level. It’s not a matter of whether Jackson is doing it with his arm or his legs, it’s the fact that he’s leading a dynamic offense. I question if Jackson’s style can ever lead a team to a Super Bowl title, but it’s absurd to compare Jackson and Allen at this point. Jackson is doing it his way, but the results are clear. If Allen ever realizes his true potential, he could be an elite championship caliber QB. Allen has the ability to be a dominant passer, if the mental aspect of his game ever comes together. Jackson is simply a fun to watch, and can succeed in an offense built for him. I’m not convinced he will be remembered as an elite QB. However, he can win games and has been dynamic. The moment never appears too big for him. Allen has miserably failed every big test, and looks like an over amped up deer in the headlights against the Pats. Jackson has it together mentally, and never looks intimidated. That’s why Jackson is receiving so much praise, while Allen goes unnoticed. The Bills could be 7-1 and tied for the AFC East lead had we beat the Pats. If Allen played big in a victory against the Pats, maybe the media would give him credit. Until Allen gets some signature victories, there is no reason why Jackson shouldn’t be held in higher esteem.
  9. I’ve actually been an advocate for a more conservative game plan to help Allen grow, but I’m starting the same thing. It’s not a matter of being a running team vs a passing team, but more about what I see in his decision making. Allen simply looks like he’s playing not to lose at times, and I don’t like that. I’d need to watch the film as McD would say, but being at the game I noticed Allen looking for short check downs, and missing downfield opportunities a few times. That was not who Allen was last season.
  10. Good thing, it might take some work to get him back upright if he didn’t.
  11. If we lose to the Redskins, it wouldn’t be a “Chicken Little” scenario at all. It would be a rational concern that this team is going nowhere, but rather than worry about that potential, I’ll just stay confident this team should beat Washington. In that scenario, all is well.
  12. His body language was terrible both on and off the field during his time in Buffalo. People are entitled to their own opinion, but that’s what I saw too. He was far from being a terrible player while here, but a positive attitude often results in more success. Being on an improved team with a better attitude would explain the improvement he has made with the Pats.
  13. Yeah, but I’m willing to bet many “Eagles Fans” at the Ralph were Western NY/Upstate NY bandwagon type fans. Those kinds are always the worst.
  14. That was a great moment, and I’m not sold on McD as a championship coach. I think he’s an overly conservative coach who can lead average teams to the playoffs, but I’m not sure he’ll ever become a winner in January. The McD philosophy is about minimizing risks, and typically some boldness is required to be a champion caliber team. With that said, in no way is Chan Gailey a better coach than McD. Gailey is a lower tier head coach, who would have only been hired by the drought era Bills. McD’s coaching is vastly superior to that of 08 and 11. Chan was a mess. The myth of Fitz and Gailey is vastly overrated around here because they won a couple big games together. People forget about all the terrible losses to weak opponents.
  15. This^ Almost a carbon copy of the 2017 Bills, but with better talent and more hope for the future.
  16. John Brown and Cole Beasley are the only guys who seem to be thrown the football when Knox isn’t dropping it. That means they have good reception numbers. Brown has been really good, but is he really a game changing WR? He’s played great, and I love him as a number two, but Brown isn’t someone who’s going take a game over.
  17. This is one of those rare times I agree with everyone posting. We need better QB play, Allen becomes a bust if he doesn’t improve big time before the end of the season imo, we also need a legit number one WR, and Daboll needs to learn how to be an NFL level OC. All of those things are problems right now.
  18. You just nailed the bigger than Brown as the number one. The big issue might be Beasley as number two. Bease is a great slot guy, but placing him number two after Brown is far from ideal. Who is our number two? Because this roster has no one I’d consider a legit number two WR.
  19. A guy who can make contested catches, who can be an underneath or a deep threat. John Brown has number one stats this season, but that’s because he’s been placed in that role. Stats don’t show the kind of passes a QB can make to a guy with more versatility than Brown. Brown would be an awesome number two.
  20. I agree, they are both decent receivers. It would just be nice to move them down the depth chart one spot. Our WR corps is subpar as is, add a real number one, and I’d have a different opinion.
  21. Haven’t seen one of our receivers do that since Moulds. So, it’s been a long time.
  22. I have no clue who Allen is better than at this point, and how much it is has to do with subpar receivers.
